Good morning! Happy National Drink Wine Day 🍷! It’s pay day but I don’t drink wine unless I get it for free. I’m more of a Bud Heavy in an aluminum can next to a fire type guy. 🍻 Though as you push forty, drinking ain’t as much fun. Four weeks to St. Patrick’s Day 🍀. Cloudy and 28 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. ☁ Not a session day so I can walk down to the Express bus. 🚍 There is a south-southeast breeze at 10 mph. 🍃. There is a inch of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Things will start to thaw out at around 10 am. 🌡️

Today will have a chance of snow before 11am, then rain and snow likely between 11am and 1pm, then rain likely after 1pm. Cloudy 🌧, with a high of 40 degrees at 4pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 4th. South wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1981. 6.3 inches of snow fell back in 2000.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 35.6Β° from the due south horizon (-35.2Β° vs. 6/21). The golden hour 🏅 starts at 4:52 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (248Β°). 📸 The sunset is in the west-southwest (255Β°) starting at 5:28 pm and lasts for 3 minutes with dusk around 5:59 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 The best time to look at the stars is after 6:33 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 39 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 42 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 43 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be scattered showers, mainly before 7pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 30 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 27th. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 4 degrees. The record low of -7 occurred back in 1878.

Tonight I want to run to the store 🏬, wash my truck 🚿 and then tomorrow morning get a hair cut 💇. Before it gets too long and shaggy like the emoji. 💈 I also need to drop off my jackets for dry cleaning. Then I have the Pine Bush dinner 🍲 on Wednesday.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, sunny, with a high near 40. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 45. Typical average high for the weekend is 36 degrees. I would like to get out of town this weekend but I am sure the forecast will change and they’re probably still a lot of snow around so that complicates things. β›„

🌹🌻🌼Only 30 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

All I can say, is that spring at least as far as the calendar 📅 is concerned is just around the corner. But if course there can be snow in the Adirondacks until the black flies start biting in mid May. 🐜 The black flies have me thinking it would be almost more fun to camp up in Rensselaerville than the Adirondacks for Memorial Day Weekend.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 when the sun will be setting at 7:04 pm with dusk at 7:32 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2019, we had mostly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 36 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 45 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.

Good morning! Happy Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day 🥛! Milk is good. But you don’t want to spill it on yourself of your carpet because it can stink when it rots. What is good for growing plants might not be so good spilled on your jacket or shirt. But that’s true with most things in life. Next Tuesday is National Drink Wine Day 🍷. I don’t drink much wine except at some of those legislative receptions I sometimes go to. Not a big drinker of alcohol these days, although I’ll have a beer or three while camping sometimes next to the fire. Rain showers and 34 degrees at the CDTA Bus Stop #10595. β˜” Calm wind. There is a inch of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 8 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

Kind of a gray and damp day outside. β˜” I didn’t bring my umbrella as I’m going to John Wolcott house after work and didn’t want to forget it as looking at some serious rain come Thursday. My jackets could use a dry cleaning, no session days next week so I’ll have to drop them off at the dry cleaner over the weekend. Monday next week is Presidents Day so I’ll have it off from work.

Today will have a chance of drizzle before 9am, then a chance of rain between 9am and 4pm. Patchy fog before 2pm. Otherwise, cloudy 🌧, with a high of 41 degrees at 4pm. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 7th. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 33 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1981. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1933.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 33.2Β° from the due south horizon (-37.6Β° vs. 6/21). The golden hour 🏅 starts at 4:42 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (245Β°). 📸 Neither fact matters today as their ain’t much sun.

The sunset is in the west-southwest (252Β°) starting at 5:19 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 5:50 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 The best time to look at the stars is after 6:24 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ and temperatures around 36 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 23 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 36 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 27 degrees at 6am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 19th. West wind 8 to 15 mph. 🌹🌻🌼Only 37 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

I am increasingly thinking my next trip will not be until March or April. β›Ί But I think that’s fine, money 💵 remains tight and there is lots to do around home. That said, if we have a nice warm weekend in March it will be fun to get away. I’m ready for winter to be done.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is National Drink Wine Day 🍷 when the sun will be setting at 5:30 pm with dusk at 5:59 pm. On that day in 2019, we had snow showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 26 and 13 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 35 degrees. We hit a record high of 63 back in 1981.

Winter

February 7, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Next Friday is Valentines Day ❀️. Rain, mist and 36 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. β˜” There is a northeast breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. There is a inch of snow and ice on the ground. β˜ƒ Going to rain all day until it turns to snow and then gets real cold. Hello, February. ️Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 2 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

I decided to walk down to the express bus 🚍 but it was raining or misting fairly hard. Not a nice day to be outside and it only is going to get worse. Reminds me of that one night I camped up on the Boereas River and NY 28 several years ago in December. β›Ί Icy snow and rain. That was before I had the propane heater and only a very smokey campfire to keep warm.

I knocked the remaining snow and ice off Big Red 🚘 in hopes things won’t be too much of a frozen mess come Saturday. Still not sure if I’m going to drive anywhere tomorrow, it’s going to be pretty bitterly cold with the wind but a fair amount of sun β˜€. I might just stay home and walk down to the library 📚.

Today will rain and sleet before 2pm, then rain and snow between 2pm and 3pm, then snow likely after 3pm. Temperature falling to around 27 by 5pm. β˜”β›„ Windy, with a northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west 19 to 29 mph. Winds could gust as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 48 was set in 2005. 12.4 inches of snow fell back in 1983.❄

I totally expect a miserable and slow icy commute home this evening 💦 but maybe they’ll close the office early or they’ll get a lot of salt on the roads to prevent icing. The good news is that I live in the city so not so far to go. If it’s bad and I don’t see the local coming I’ll take the local home. 🚍

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 32Β° from the due south horizon (-38.9Β° vs. 6/21). The golden hour 🏅 starts at 4:36 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (243Β°). 📸 The sunset is in the west-southwest (250Β°) starting at 5:13 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 5 seconds with dusk around 5:45 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous 🌖 Moon in the east (80Β°) at an altitude of 24Β° from the horizon, 232,013 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 6:19 pm. At sunset, look for snow showers 🌨 and temperatures around 27 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 11. β˜ƒοΈBlustery, 🌬 with a stiff breeze at 30 mph the west-northwest with gusts up to 52mph. Going to be frigid, especially downtown. I turned my heat up a few degrees before leaving home to ensure my apartment isn’t too cold by the time I get home on what will be the most blustery of evenings. Today will have 10 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 30 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of snow showers, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 16 degrees at 4am. Typical for tonight. Maximum wind chill around 4 at 6am; Windy, with a west wind 24 to 29 mph decreasing to 17 to 22 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1950.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 29 degrees at 1pm. Four degrees below normal. West wind 10 to 17 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 52 was set in 1925. 14 inches of snow fell back in 1895.❄

Looking ahead to Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 31. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. β˜€ Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees.

February 3, 2020 8 AM Update

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Iowa caucus day. I bet Bernie Sanders win Iowa but who knows. Next Monday is Clean Your Computer Day 🧹. I bet in rural Iowa that involves fire and maybe a D5 bulldozer. πŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎ Iowa rednecks are the best and they have some mad good dirt to show for it! πŸ’© Light rain and 33 degrees at the Valero. β›ˆ I know I wasn’t really expecting rain.Β  There is a west breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 9 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

Taking an all electric bus downtown. 🚍 Honestly it’s not that different than any other bus although it seems a bit slower at kneeling and electric motor sounds a little different when spinning up and down. Little rougher over the potholes probably because the buses a lot heavier, especially on the roof line. Lacking gears and having strong regen on the hills the stop and go smoother. Do smell a bit of ozone being produced by the motors. ⚑ In a decade it will probably be so ordinary, like the hybrid buses hard to even note these days, except when they blow a lot of black smoke when the engines are malfunctioning.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 45 degrees at 1pm. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 17th. West wind 7 to 13 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 57 was set in 2016. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 2004.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 30.8Β° from the due south horizon (-40.1Β° vs. 6/21). Tonight will be mostly cloudy πŸŒ₯, with a low of 29 degrees at 5am. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 24th. The record low of -13 occurred back in 1978.

While not perfect this weekend looks much better than recent. πŸ™‚ Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 33. Sunday, a chance of rain and snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees.

I am a bit undecided on my weekend plans at this point, πŸ’ a lot depends on how much snow we get this week. I kind of want to go to the Johnstown Outdoors Show but if the weekend is really nice and only a small amount of snow I might go to Madison County and truck cap camp at the horse camp β›Ί. I could go to the Adirondacks if the snow banks aren’t too high but in that case it would certainly be snow tent camping dragging the tent and gear back in the woods.

Helderberg Escarpment

February 1, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy February 🌧! It’s February 2020 if you can believe it, soon Iowa caucus time for those Democrats in Iowa. I’m sure they’re tired of all those Elizabeth Warren radio commercials on the top 40 country station 📻 and embers of Joseph Biden mailers floating off their smoldering burn barrels 🚒 setting their pastures on fire. 🔥 I’m sure it will just make the grass grow greener after they spread more hog shit on them come spring. It is Iowa after all, God’s country, a free place.

I don’t care, I’ll probably vote ❎ for Bernie Sanders come the spring. I think democratic socialism has a lot of good ideas, especially limiting the power of the state in the criminal justice system and his idea of universal health care is good if I want to eventually retire early so I can focus on improving my own land. 🚜 Plus he’s from Vermont and probably toured a barnyard or two and isn’t afraid of dirt roads or the woods. 🌲Unlike the pretty boy 👦 in the White House who talks about loving coal while he poops on a toilet 🚽 made of gold.

Cloudy and 31 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁Calm wind. We got a dusting of snow but it sure is gray today. Must be because they haven’t removed the incumbent from the White House yet. Things will start to thaw out at around 8 am. 🌡️ Great more mud. 🐷

I made up pancakes and coffee β˜• for breakfast 🍳. A pretty good breakfast. Listening to Weekend Edition. Not a very nice day, very gray for sure. I’m chewing over walking out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center 🐸 but I don’t know. I want to do some soldering projects, 🔬 finish up on the John Wolcott index 📇 and some other projects.

Today will have a slight chance of snow showers, mixing with rain after 11am, then gradually ending. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 37 degrees at 12pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 23rd. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 18 degrees. The record high of 65 was set in 1989. 15 inches of snow fell back in 1898.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 30.2Β° from the due south horizon (-40.6Β° vs. 6/21). The golden hour 🏅 starts at 4:27 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (240Β°). 📸 The sunset is in the west-southwest (247Β°) starting at 5:05 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 9 seconds with dusk around 5:37 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter 🌓 Moon in the south (173Β°) at an altitude of 59Β° from the horizon, 248,379 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 6:12 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 58 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 20 seconds over yesterday.

The fact that the sun is above 30 degrees angle and the calendar β˜€ gives me a great deal of hope. I really want to spend more nights in the wilderness but it has to be reasonably pleasant out, with the snow banks low enough that I can find a place to park. 🅿 I really miss the fires and camping in the wilderness. β›Ί It’s just not the same sleeping at home with the windows shut and just walking around the neighborhood🚶. Spring is coming! 🌸 But God willing maybe I’ll get out for a weekend in the wilderness as soon as next week, but only time will tell.

Tonight will have isolated snow showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 26 degrees at 4am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 16th. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to -2 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1961.

One month 📅 from now will be March 🌨 when the sun will be setting at 5:45 pm with dusk at 6:13 pm.

January 29, 2020 Night

Good evening! Clear and 20 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. The current wind chill is 8. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Things will start to thaw out at Friday around 11 am. 🌡️

It was pretty bitterly cold ❄ after going out with some of my colleagues after work and having some drinks and wings 🍻 and then waiting for the bus to go home. 🚍 The 49 cent wings – ten for $4.90 are a great deal 🍗 and are really good tasting at Public House 42. Plus my colleagues picked up the tab for my birthday 🎂 which was really nice of them to do. I offered to pay but they were really nice. I don’t go out much but it was nice especially at the new Pinto and Hobbs where it was pretty quiet. I hate drinking beer where the crowds and noise are so loud you can’t hear a person five feet away. Even Public House 42 was pretty quiet, they were playing Peter Paul and Mary for a walk.

Tonight will be clear 🌃, with a low of 6 degrees at 4am. Nine degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -1 at 5am; North wind 3 to 8 mph. In 2019, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 1 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1965.

There was at least one if not two homeless people on the street last night at the bus stop. 🚏Seemed like an awful cold night to be on the street. I’ve spent a few single digit nights in the wilderness in the single digits but that’s with warm clothes, a rip roaring fire 🔥 and my propane heater in a hot tent 🎪. The homeless action network was giving out blankets and tarps to the people and probably asking them if they wanted to go to the shelter. One was asking if anybody had keys 🔑 or a knife🔪 to open 🔓 the bag that they were blanket they got came in. I said no because I didn’t know if my key would be sharp enough and I didn’t want to have it stolen and not be able to get in my own house. 🏡 The guy flagged down the homeless van and got in any they helped him open it.

Just reminds me how privileged I am even if it seems like I have very little money 💵 in my bank account at the end of the month. My rent check was withdrawn yesterday. That’s good, I hopefully won’t get evicted for at least another month. 🏡 Done so much damage to my landlords building 🏢 although not all of it is my fault – it’s had moisture problems since I moved in and things were old and thread bare ready to wear through. Plus my muddy boots and gear didn’t help. That said, over the past 12 1/2 years I’ve paid like $80k in rent, always on time and only called the landlord over a handful of times. 💰The rent check cleared while I was drinking to remind me how poor I truly am.💸 At least it was my birthday.

The Snow ❄ Moon is on Sunday, February 9. The darkest hour is at 12:09 am, followed by dawn at 6:44 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:14 am in the east-southeast (114Β°) and last for 3 minutes and 10 seconds. Sunrise is 57 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:56 am with sun in the east-southeast (121Β°). Tonight will have 14 hours and 7 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 16 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 32 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around January 31st. Light and variable wind. With the sun it will feel even warmer. Next week might be closer to 50 on Monday. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 28 degrees. The record high of 56 was set in 2013. 11 inches of snow fell back in 1966.❄

Tooth cleaning appointment in the morning. 🦷 I should have done a better job at flossing over the past six months but I’ve been busy and I’m sure I’ll get yelled out gently by my dental hygienist. He’s actually a good guy and very friendly and just tries to nudge me to better dental health. Figuring I didn’t take care of my teeth for a long time it’s good I’m at least getting regular cleanings now.

In four weeks on February 26 the sun will be setting in the west (259Β°) at 5:40 pm,🌄 which is 36 minutes and 19 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 24 and 15 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 38 and 20 degrees. The record high of 63 degrees was set back in 1976.

After I got home I researched the Rensselaer Biotech facility that is supposed to be one of those mechanical biological treatment facilities 🚮that shreds mixed garbage and supposedly breaks it down into compostable materials and recoverable metals. I think the biggest concern is it will process mixed waste rather than source separated organics. I’d rather see much higher prices on mixed waste and that sent to landfills with a priority on source separated organics recovery and dual stream recycling. β™» Having more bins is a pain but it may be necessary for clean waste recovery.

January 27, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. The current wind chill is 24. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 11 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

Not a half bad day, relatively quiet at work. 💼 As I was in late according to the time clock 🕒 I had to wait until 5:08 to clock out. Which was fine but also super pointless as I probably spent most of the final eight minutes staring at the clock because it was too late to really get started on the project that dropped on my desk five minutes to five. I did manage to catch the express bus back home 🚍 but for some reason it seemed so pokey with the traffic 🚦, especially past the lane restriction by the Capitol but the whole commute was sluggish, probably because I’m used to catching the express from Peter Kieran Plaza as it gets onto Water Street and the expressway. But that wasn’t going to happen as I had to stay late to make the time clock happy. πŸ™‚ Needless to say I’m going to get to work earlier tomorrow.

I am cooked up a big pan of tuna fish 🐠 salad up 🍲. Probably not the healthiest meal 🍴 ever with all that mercury rich tuna and fatty mayonnaise but oh so good. It did have nearly 3/4 lb of broccoli in it and lately I’ve been eating like four pounds of broccoli a week 🌿 so you gotta pick your fights. I rode the bike 🚲 for a hour or two after. Finished off the mayonnaise and I had to wash out the jar for recycling. What a pain. I tell you when I own land out in the country, things like that are prime candidates for the burn barrel to clean up. 🔥 Recycling is good, especially in the cities where there is lots of people and lots of garbage β™» but it can be such a pain in the ass compared to tossing it in a fire.

Its a pretty mild evening when I went out for my evening walk earlier. 🚶 Certainly really cloudy though. ☁ I also rode the exercise bike 🚲 for an hour or two while cooking dinner than listening to music 🎶 and then watched the latest from Arms Family Homestead with them birthing goats 🐐 – “wife is coming home soon….. I got to wash the after birth off my hands 👐 before I cook dinner.” Now that’s a line, knowing how livestock after birth can smell. Maybe he should have taken a shower 🚿 too. I really enjoy watching YouTube and learning about farm life from birthing and preg testing through butchering. 🚜

Regardless I got home and read 📖 for 45 minutes before killing the lights. πŸ’‘ Almost done with that book on the News Corp that I’m reading. I do keep my room dim at night but now it’s completely dark with the goal of being completely asleep by ten 🔟.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 30 degrees at 3am. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 27th. Maximum wind chill around 22 at 4am; Northwest wind around 9 mph. In 2019, we had snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 2005.

The Snow ❄ Moon is on Sunday, February 9. The darkest hour is at 12:09 am, followed by dawn at 6:45 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:16 am in the east-southeast (115Β°) and last for 3 minutes and 12 seconds. Sunrise is 52 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:58 am with sun in the east-southeast (122Β°). Tonight will have 14 hours and 11 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 12 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a high of 36 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 19th. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 22 degrees. The record high of 56 was set in 1916. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1897.❄

That kind of sucks. ☁ While this winter has been quite mild the sun hadn’t shown all that much. I guess it doesn’t matter that much in my basement office 🏢 but it still is pretty dreary, especially on the weekends.

In four weeks on February 24 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (258Β°) at 5:38 pm,🌄 which is 36 minutes and 25 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 42 and 34 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 37 and 19 degrees. The record high of 74 degrees was set back in 2017. I do remember how warm and misty that year truly was.
