March 28, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 50 ๐ŸŒธ! That’s a real sign of spring. Three weeks to Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ. Partly sunny and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind.

I don’t think it was a bad idea ๐Ÿ’ก to stay home this weekend. Last night was beautiful ๐ŸŒƒ but it got chilly around eleven, though I’m sure it wouldn’t have been bad by a campfire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Hoping for better weather next week, and maybe taking a three day weekend. Heck, maybe I can even work one day from camp if it’s sunny and quiet out. โ›บ

Today will rain likely, โ˜” mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 53 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 3rd. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.โ„

The plan for today is to walk ๐Ÿšถ at Schodack Island State Park โ›ฒ, return the broken MIFI adapter and pick up the work laptop, ๐Ÿ’ป get the Reszin Adam’s newspaper clippings ๐Ÿ“ฐ from John Wolcott, come home and work on my DEIS comments ๐Ÿ“ regarding the proposed Crossgates Development in the Pine Bush.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-20.2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:40 pm with the sun in the west (269ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (275ยฐ) starting at 7:15 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:45 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west-southwest (256ยฐ) at an altitude of 40ยฐ from the horizon, 246,203 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:19 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 47 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 42 degrees at 4am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 28th. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. At least that should get the salt off the roads and help things from getting too dried out, but it certainly won’t help with the mud. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 44 degrees. The record low of 0 occurred back in 1923.

Tomorrow morning early on, I’ll run to the laundromat ๐Ÿ‘š and go grocery shopping. ๐Ÿ I am probably not going to see my parents this weekend but we’ll see. I’ll call them and see how they go they’re doing. ๐Ÿ“ž I’ve been pretty isolated this week but you never know and they should stay away from senior citizens.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ when the sun will be setting at 7:41 pm with dusk at 8:10 pm. On that day in 2019, we had cloudy skies, rain showers and temperatures between 58 and 46 degrees. Albany hit a record high of 90 back in 1976.

March 27, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Two weeks to Good Friday โœ๏ธ. I am thinking of I get Good Friday off that would be nice to tack another day on the weekend for you road / camping trip. โ›บ I normally socially distance when I travel and camp as I like having big fires ๐Ÿ”ฅ , listening to music ๐ŸŽถ and shooting guns ๐Ÿ”ซ and I can wear gloves when I pump gas. โ›ฝ Trust me, you know my preferred music type, you want to social distance me.

Partly cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a north-northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Incredibly beautiful morning. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Such a nice morning. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Too bad it’s a work day and while I’m not stuck in an office I am sure projects will be coming my way so I can’t get too far from my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ and laptop. I am actually getting a work laptop for official duties which is good because I am not a big fan of using my personal laptop as I don’t like mixing work and personal stuff. I certainly don’t want to use a work VPN on my personal computer for obvious reasons. ๐Ÿ’ป

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 58 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 14th. Northwest wind around 8 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1998. 6.7 inches of snow fell back in 1959.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-20.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). First above fifty degrees in the sky – that should lead to some nice warm spring days. A six foot person will cast a 5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:39 pm with the sun in the west (269ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (275ยฐ) starting at 7:13 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:44 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (261ยฐ) at an altitude of 30ยฐ from the horizon, 248,511 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:18 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 31 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 29 degrees at 6am. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 26th. I’m surprised the average low is now thirty – true sign that spring is coming. ๐ŸŒธ Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 3 occurred back in 1923.

Tomorrow will rain likely, mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds โ›… , with a high of 54 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 5th. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, rain before 8am, then showers likely, mainly after 11am. ๐Ÿ’ฆ High near 51. Southeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 50 degrees.

I seriously thought about heading out of town this weekend โ›บ but I think Saturday will be quite cloudy โ˜and I would be taking down camp in the cold rain. Plus I really should work to save money – between car insurance and rent I have $1,100 leaving my bank account today,๐Ÿ’ธ although fortunately next Tuesday is a pay day.๐Ÿ’ฐ That said, I owe New York State over $300 in two weeks ๐Ÿ’ต between the quarterly tax payment and the usual credit card bill, as I rarely use cash ๐Ÿ’ณ.

That said, maybe next weekend. ๐Ÿ’ญ The long range looks very good for Friday through Sunday, a week from now โ›บ and trout season ๐ŸŽฃ will be open. Question is how busy I’ll be during those days. Not sure, but if it’s relatively quiet around the office ๐Ÿข, we’ll home office I could take next Friday off.

But as previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Good Friday โœ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm with dusk at 8:01 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 50 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 56 degrees. That might also be a good weekend to camp โ›บ. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Calm wind. The snow is basically gone except from some sad snow men. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing around 1 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Wasn’t sure how cold โ„ it would be on my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ but it turned out to be a fairly reasonable night. Little more traffic tonight than recent nights – it’s been so quiet lately when I go for my evening walk. Maybe because it was a little later. Ran into some random person smoking pot on a dark part of the street but I social distance him so no real concerns there. ๐Ÿšฌ People get it, they appreciate it when you give them distance. ๐Ÿ…

Today went by quickly, it was a pretty quiet day at work. ๐Ÿ˜‚It does save a lot of time not commuting and I kind of like working out of my truck. ๐Ÿ’ป That said, conference calls and even Zoom Meetings aren’t like being in person, although I do like the mute ๐Ÿ”• button โšซand being able to flip to other browser tabs. Plus work done at home without social media distractions is much more productive. I’ve discovered how truly much more energy efficient the DC car charger for my laptop is compared to the AC charger plugged into my inverter. ๐Ÿ”Œ

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 28 degrees at 6am. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 23rd. Light and variable wind. Not all that much longer before the average night is above freezing in Albany. Then I’ll definitely be able to have heat off. โ™จ In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1960.

The darkest hour is at 1:02 am, followed by dawn at 6:22 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:50 am in the east (87ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:27 am with sun in the east (93ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 32 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 58 degrees at 4pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 14th. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Should be a really nice day. I won’t mind working down a Five Rivers in my truck tomorrow for sure. Beats working in the dungeon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 1986. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 1899.โ„

I ordered a new pair of boots ๐Ÿ‘ข because the ones I’m wear are showing holes through their bottoms. I found I can order my size online and get free shipping, so no digging through the store to find their not in stock. Still having trouble with the state tax department website. ๐ŸฌDidn’t get a chance to do any more research into screened in tents for camping during Black Fly Season or some of my longer trips for rainy days ๐ŸŽช but I should do that tomorrow.

I also got to think about where I want to go for my April road trip. โ›บ I am thinking Madison and Chenango Counties for good trout fishing ๐ŸŽฃ opportunities but the Adirondacks are still a possibility. ๐Ÿ—ป Depends on how much snow there is. That said, while the state forests camping areas are quite large compared to campgrounds, I kind of want to be as far away from others as possible in this era of social distancing.๐Ÿ‘พ Plastic gloves while pumping gas โ›ฝ, hand sanitizer and just staying as far away from others as possible, as it seems like the apex of the Coronavirus crisis in New York will be about the week I’m planning my trip.

Took another sleeping pill ๐Ÿ’Š so I sleep well because otherwise I wake up during the night and turn on the BBC or NPR Morning Edition ๐Ÿ“ป and the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ is so sad and worrying. ๐Ÿ˜ข Coronavirus is a disaster and it’s only going to get worse before it gets better. It’s a crazy wind driven wildfire that is out of control, going to jump every fire break we put up against it. ๐Ÿ”ฅ I am not convinced that social distancing is going to have a big impact – it feels good to spray the out of control fire with water ๐Ÿ’ฆ – but it’s not going to stop burning until Coronavirus naturally burns itself out. I bet Texas won’t get hit as hard as New York even though they’ve done far less. My science friend who is on the front lines says Coronavirus is blowing right towards the big nursing homes ๐Ÿ‘ด in New York City and while they are doing everything they can to stop the march ๐Ÿ‘พinto the facilities, it’s going to arrive shortly and it will lead to a shocking number of casualties. ๐ŸขIts endlessly sad and I think it’s very dishonest of the politicians to act like their is much we can do at this point. ๐ŸŽค

In four weeks on April 22 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (288ยฐ) at 7:45 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 55 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, warm and temperatures between 74 and 51 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 61 and 40 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 1985.

Looking ahead, April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก is in 1 weeks, Pink Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 2 weeks, Tax Day ๐Ÿ’ฐ is in 3 weeks except its not due to Coronavirus, Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ is in 4 weeks, Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 2 months, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 13 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 43 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 57 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

March 25, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Climbing the Hump, coasting to the weekend. Not going to be a real nice weekend though. Next Wednesday is April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก. You know, I don’t actually miss the late nights at work that much working on the state budget. I’m quite fine working 9-5, even if I’d does mean I’m working out my truck during Coronavirus. ๐Ÿš Strangely enough, I actually miss the routine of taking the bus to work and the quiet time it gives me to work on my blog ๐Ÿ“ and think while I ride to work.

Mostly cloudy and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Calm wind. There is maybe an inch of wet globby snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 9 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Most of the snow from yesterday is gone at least in the city. But I’m sure the ground is really sloppy at this point. At least the fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ danger is low for the next few days although the long range is calling for below average precipitation for early spring before things green up. Campfires are exempt from the Pete Grannis burn ban, as long as they’re under 3 foot by 4 foot (no bonfires until after May 15th) but commonsense matters. It’s really easy to start a grass fire this time of year and have to be stomping it out.

Today will have isolated sprinkles after noon. Mostly cloudy โ›… , with a high of 45 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 18th. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. We aren’t getting the rain their getting down in Pennsylvania as the front is stalled south of us but I’m not hopeful of much sun. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 46 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 1910. 1.9 inches of snow fell back in 1960.โ„

So I have that Zoom Meeting online conference training session ๐Ÿ’ป at one o’clock today so I’ll probably go to Five Rivers for that. It should be relatively quiet there and afterwards I’ll go for a walk on one of the drier trails. ๐Ÿšถ Not expecting much snow to be left come the afternoon. I wish we would have more sun, it would be more pleasant and provide more solar power but I can’t control the weather. I am glad Zoom Meeting has Linux software as much as I don’t like installing closed source binary programs. โ‡

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 49.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-21.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:37 pm with the sun in the west (267ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (274ยฐ) starting at 7:11 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:42 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (268ยฐ) at an altitude of 9ยฐ from the horizon, 251,596 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:16 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 41 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 27 degrees at 6am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 21st. Calm wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1960.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 54. Sunday, rain likely before 8am, then showers, mainly after 8am. High near 49. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Typical average high for the weekend is 50 degrees.

It doesn’t look like a real nice weekend but at least it will be fairly mild โ˜ and maybe the forecast is improving. I don’t have any plans for the weekend at this time, possibly the following weekend I’ll take a week or part of a week off for camping โ›บ and trout fishing ๐ŸŽฃbut that’s to be determined. Except for pumping gas โ›ฝ I doubt I’ll have much in social interaction, I can always wear some of those nitrile gloves while pumping gas I have for butchering ๐Ÿ”ช game. Honestly I’m not that worried ๐Ÿ˜ฏ, they’re is only so much one can do to prevent getting Coronavirus.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก when the sun will be setting at 7:21 pm with dusk at 7:50 pm. On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 42 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 77 back in 1986.

Clouds

March 13, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west breeze at 15 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 25 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. Honestly, I don’t think it’s that windy out but what do I know. Earlier on I had my windows open and the fresh air was great! Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Such odd times we live in these days. ๐Ÿ‘พI don’t watch the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ as I don’t have a television ๐Ÿ“บ and have little interest in hearing about the hysteria on the radio but truth be told, I’ve scrolled through enough social media to here that most of the public institutions are shutting down in New York. My reaction: buy a case of Corona beer ๐Ÿป and some lyme and maybe head out camping in Madison County or Schoharie County. โ›บ Actually that’s not a done deal as it might be kind of cloudy in Madison County โ˜ and I still have a bit of a sinus infecti that I’ve had for two weeks now that don’t want to get worse. You know these days, it’s harder to suck it up and go to work when you’re sinus are plugged or you cough due to choking on water ๐Ÿ’ฆ and everyone looks at you like you’re a super spreader of Coronavirus.๐Ÿ˜ท

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 33 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 3rd. West wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1948.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter ๐ŸŒ— Moon with 75% illuminated. The moon will rise at 11:56 pm. The Worm ๐Ÿ› Moon is on Saturday, March 28. The darkest hour is at 1:06 am, followed by dawn at 6:43 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:11 am in the east (93ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:48 am with sun in the east (99ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 7 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 55 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 52 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 1st. West wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1946. 17 inches of snow fell back in 2017.โ„

It does sound like a nice day but windy ๐Ÿƒ. I am also concerned about the roads being pretty sloppy and some ice hanging around. I thought about heading to the Brookfield horse ๐Ÿด camp but despite it looking like there isn’t much snow in Hamilton I’m concerned about snow banks blocking the road. Plus with that wind, even with a fair amount of rain today, I’m a bit worried about sparks. ๐Ÿ”ฅ You can have a campfire but it has to small and controlled. Small and fire ain’t a thing for me especially if it’s going to be a cold night with the wind and I have a lot of accumulated goodies to burn.

And money ๐Ÿ’ต is tight again and I should be doing more research for Save the Pine Bush tomorrow. Being responsible versus having fun. Plus it’s a lot of work to pack and unpack for one night. And Grace wants to join me with an expert in the Pine Bush on Sunday. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒThat said, no going to the library this weekend – closed due to Coronavirus hysteria. ๐Ÿ“š

In four weeks on April 10 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) at 7:32 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 32 minutes and 10 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 50 and 32 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 56 and 35 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 1922.

In four weeks, that is the week after Easter ๐Ÿฐ I’m thinking of taking off a week or at least part of a week for some social distancing, that is a road trip. I’ll be in the wilderness, doubt I’ll see many people. Maybe the Finger Lakes although a spring Adirondacks trip would be fun. I haven’t really decided, a lot depends on how much snow there is up north. The Adirondacks often hold snow into May. Another option is to do a fishing ๐ŸŽฃ and camping trips to Madison and Cortland County.

Looking ahead, Spring ๐ŸŒท is in 1 week, Good Friday โœ๏ธ is in 4 weeks, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 7 weeks and 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 12 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 69 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Looking Out the Lean-To

March 12, 2020 Night

Good evening! Clouding up and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south-southeast breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. You could actually see the stars โœจ for a while when I went for my evening walk after going to the library. ๐Ÿšถ Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around noontime. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I went down to the library to do some research for Save the Pine Bush. ๐Ÿ“š Quiet at the library because they’ve canceled all community events. Smelled a bit like ammonia from all the cleaning fluid as everything does this day. ๐Ÿ˜ท Every time you hear a cough you have to cringe a bit. But I think it’s kind of silly. Just got to live your life and if you die, so be it.

I also uploaded that graphic comparison of the routing of the Mid Crosstown Arterial that I find quite fascinating. ๐Ÿšง I don’t know about you but I’m very fascinated by dragging the slider back and forth and seeing the comparison. As I explained earlier it’s not difficult to do, once you get things geo referenced. The GIS software does all the hard work. I also have some Google Maps to show but I can’t seem to get my new and improved uploader to work properly with them. I got to play with that broken code more.

Tonight will rain, mainly after 2am. ๐ŸŒง Low of 42 degrees at 3am. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 28th. Southeast wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1885.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter ๐ŸŒ— Moon with 84% illuminated. The moon will rise at 10:42 pm. The Worm ๐Ÿ› Moon is on Friday, March 27. The darkest hour is at 1:06 am, followed by dawn at 6:45 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:13 am in the east (94ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:50 am with sun in the east (100ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 10 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain before 7am, then showers, mainly between 7am and 1pm. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 59 degrees at 2pm. 17 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 18th. Maximum dew point of 45 at 11am. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Breezy, with a southeast wind 13 to 23 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2012. 22 inches of snow fell back in 1993.โ„

I think I’ll open up my windows tomorrow. ๐Ÿ”ณ That’s a good thing because I left a gallon of milk ๐Ÿฎ on the counter top when I went to work and I can still smell the racid milk despite dumping it out. I was very sad ๐Ÿ˜” the milk went bad, it’s the first time I’ve done that in years – I didn’t catch it in the morning when I confirmed the stove was off.

In four weeks on April 9 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (281ยฐ) at 7:30 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 32 minutes and 13 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, thunderstorm and temperatures between 65 and 41 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 55 and 35 degrees. The record high of 77 degrees was set back in 1991.

With all this talk about Coronavirus, I’m thinking about a weekend trip to Schoharie County or maybe Madison County with a case of Corona beer ๐Ÿป to enjoy next to a campfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ for one night of self imposed quarantine. Exposure to natural bacteria and fresh air can be quite healthy. โ›บ Snow is gone outside of the Adirondacks although things might be muddy with the warm weather and rain expected tomorrow. Might be cold with the wind, ๐Ÿƒ and while I’m not that concerned because everything is wet I don’t want a shit ton of sparks โœจ going everywhere because it’s cold and windy. Pine Bush literature drop I had planned for the weekend has been canceled due to older members concerns about going door to door ๐Ÿšช in a community that’s already has a known spread of Coronavirus.

I am thinking of getting a box of plastic bags ๐Ÿ›„ like the grocery stores ๐Ÿฌ used to have before the plastic bag ban. You can get 1,000 plastic shopping bags for under $20 โ€” they really are dirt cheap and it would be great to carry in case you run low on bags in the store or while camping if I don’t want my reusable bags to get dirty. And then they’re great for camp trash – gone in seconds. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Goes good with the foam plates I used to use a lot while camping. Fire is more fun and easier than washing. I’ll get the plastic bags by summer. I still have plenty used plastic bags from before the ban.

Looking ahead, Easter ๐Ÿฐ is a month away and Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 8 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 10 weeks remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

March 12, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Mostly cloudy and 34 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. โ˜ Calm wind. Without a breeze doesn’t feel really cold. I haven’t bothered to turn my heat back on again. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 11 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 50 degrees at 5pm. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 28th. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 38 degrees. The record high of 69 was set in 2012. 30.4 inches of snow fell back in 1888.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:06 pm with sun having an altitude of 44.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-26.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. That said, the your not going to see much of a shadow today. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:22 pm with the sun in the west (260ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (267ยฐ) starting at 6:56 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:26 pm, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:00 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 48 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 47 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 40 degrees at 6am. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 22nd. Southeast wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1885.

Today in 1933, was the first of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s fireside chats. ๐Ÿ“ป Now we just have the president’s tweet storms at five am to run the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ narrative of the day. Although nobody seems to care about the presidents thoughts ๐Ÿ’ญ while he’s on the toilet ๐Ÿšฝ today, it’s all about Coronavirus. ๐Ÿ‘พ

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 47. West wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 43. Typical average high for the weekend is 43 degrees. That wind might make it a bit chilly especially after the fun goes down. We’ll see but there is still a lot of spring time left

๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผOne week remains until the first day of calendar spring!๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผ

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be Easter ๐Ÿฐ when the sun will be setting at 7:34 pm with dusk at 8:03 pm.
