March 12, 2020 Night

Good evening! Clouding up and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south-southeast breeze at 11 mph. 🍃. You could actually see the stars ✨ for a while when I went for my evening walk after going to the library. 🚶 Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around noontime. ☃️

I went down to the library to do some research for Save the Pine Bush. 📚 Quiet at the library because they’ve canceled all community events. Smelled a bit like ammonia from all the cleaning fluid as everything does this day. 😷 Every time you hear a cough you have to cringe a bit. But I think it’s kind of silly. Just got to live your life and if you die, so be it.

I also uploaded that graphic comparison of the routing of the Mid Crosstown Arterial that I find quite fascinating. 🚧 I don’t know about you but I’m very fascinated by dragging the slider back and forth and seeing the comparison. As I explained earlier it’s not difficult to do, once you get things geo referenced. The GIS software does all the hard work. I also have some Google Maps to show but I can’t seem to get my new and improved uploader to work properly with them. I got to play with that broken code more.

Tonight will rain, mainly after 2am. 🌧 Low of 42 degrees at 3am. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 28th. Southeast wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1885.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter 🌗 Moon with 84% illuminated. The moon will rise at 10:42 pm. The Worm 🐛 Moon is on Friday, March 27. The darkest hour is at 1:06 am, followed by dawn at 6:45 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:13 am in the east (94°) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:50 am with sun in the east (100°). Tonight will have 12 hours and 10 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain before 7am, then showers, mainly between 7am and 1pm. 🌦 High of 59 degrees at 2pm. 17 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 18th. Maximum dew point of 45 at 11am. 🏖️ Breezy, with a southeast wind 13 to 23 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2012. 22 inches of snow fell back in 1993.❄

I think I’ll open up my windows tomorrow. 🔳 That’s a good thing because I left a gallon of milk 🐮 on the counter top when I went to work and I can still smell the racid milk despite dumping it out. I was very sad 😔 the milk went bad, it’s the first time I’ve done that in years – I didn’t catch it in the morning when I confirmed the stove was off.

In four weeks on April 9 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (281°) at 7:30 pm,🌄 which is 32 minutes and 13 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, thunderstorm and temperatures between 65 and 41 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 55 and 35 degrees. The record high of 77 degrees was set back in 1991.

With all this talk about Coronavirus, I’m thinking about a weekend trip to Schoharie County or maybe Madison County with a case of Corona beer 🍻 to enjoy next to a campfire 🔥 for one night of self imposed quarantine. Exposure to natural bacteria and fresh air can be quite healthy. ⛺ Snow is gone outside of the Adirondacks although things might be muddy with the warm weather and rain expected tomorrow. Might be cold with the wind, 🍃 and while I’m not that concerned because everything is wet I don’t want a shit ton of sparks ✨ going everywhere because it’s cold and windy. Pine Bush literature drop I had planned for the weekend has been canceled due to older members concerns about going door to door 🚪 in a community that’s already has a known spread of Coronavirus.

I am thinking of getting a box of plastic bags 🛄 like the grocery stores 🏬 used to have before the plastic bag ban. You can get 1,000 plastic shopping bags for under $20 — they really are dirt cheap and it would be great to carry in case you run low on bags in the store or while camping if I don’t want my reusable bags to get dirty. And then they’re great for camp trash – gone in seconds. 🔥 Goes good with the foam plates I used to use a lot while camping. Fire is more fun and easier than washing. I’ll get the plastic bags by summer. I still have plenty used plastic bags from before the ban.

Looking ahead, Easter 🐰 is a month away and Flower Moon 🌕 is in 8 weeks.

🇺🇸🦅Only 10 weeks remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!🦅🇺🇸
