March 30, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. ๐Ÿ’ผ Final day of March! No buses to catch just clock in at nine o’clock. ๐Ÿ•’ Hopefully this won’t last forever but I don’t mind working out back when the weather gets nicer. Four weeks to Arbor Day ๐ŸŒณ. Cloudy with some breaks of sun, damp, a bit windy and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a south breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear Wednesday around 8 am.

Today will have showers, mainly after 3pm. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 47 degrees at 1pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 25th. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 71 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1986. 4 inches of snow fell back in 1911.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 51.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-19.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:42 pm with the sun in the west (270ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (276ยฐ) starting at 7:17 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:47 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west-southwest (238ยฐ) at an altitude of 60ยฐ from the horizon, 240,649 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:22 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 39 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain showers likely before 4am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 35 degrees at 4am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 8th. Northeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 35 degrees. The record low of 12 occurred back in 1923.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. โ›… Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 57. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees. I am continuing to watch the forecast, might do some social distancing in the wilderness โ›บ and maybe do some fishing. ๐ŸŽฃ I am thinking Schoharie County but I’m a bit undecided.

Also thinking about calling the repair shop ๐Ÿช and seeing if they can fix the alignment issue on Big Red. I’ve noticed that the uneven wear on the rear drivers side wheel and while it’s not severe, I really should get it fixed before the summer driving season. ๐Ÿ”ง I’m thinking with everything shutdown now would be the time as I’m working from home so picking up before five isn’t a big deal and I’m getting that government stimulus check in a few weeks.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Arbor Day ๐ŸŒณ when the sun will be setting at 7:51 pm with dusk at 8:21 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 50 and 40 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 63 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1962.

Roundtop Mountain

March 29, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Next Sunday is Palm Sunday ๐ŸŒด. I suspect most churches โ›ช won’t be giving away palms next week although maybe some churches will have drive through palm delivery I guess. Rain, a bit lighter than before and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a southeast breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear Wednesday around 7 pm.

Down at the laundromat doing my wash this morning. ๐Ÿšฟ I figured it’s best to get it done as early as possible to avoid the crowds and so I’m not rushing around later. Today looks like a pretty much stay at home day, not a great day for doing anything up in the woods. I’m glad I didn’t decide to camp out this weekend, as the rain started early on Saturday and around day break this morning it was absolutely pouring. โ›บ Maybe next weekend although lately the forecast has been trending down hill.

Today will rain, mainly before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 49 degrees at 2pm. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 27th. Southeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1946. 5.6 inches of snow fell back in 1984.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 51ยฐ from the due south horizon (-19.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:41 pm with the sun in the west (270ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (276ยฐ) starting at 7:16 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:46 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west-southwest (249ยฐ) at an altitude of 50ยฐ from the horizon, 243,536 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:20 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 47 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 36 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 41 degrees at 4am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 25th. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 42 degrees. The record low of 7 occurred back in 1970.

As previously noted, next Sunday is Palm Sunday ๐ŸŒด when the sun will be setting at 7:26 pm with dusk at 7:55 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 42 and 25 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 54 degrees. We hit a record high of 82 back in 1928.

NiMo Right of Way

March 28, 2020 Night

Good evening! Rain and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. It was pouring earlier but has let up. The skies will clear Friday around noontime.

Schodack Island State Park โ›ฒ was packed which shouldn’t have surprised me with everything else closed but it did because it was raining out by the end of my hike and cold and cloudy โ˜all day. You don’t expect to see many people out in the woods on such dreary days except maybe the opening day of hunting season. I really enjoy sitting quietly in the woods and there was a ton of mostly common birds ๐Ÿฆ when I was observing ๐Ÿ”ญ.

I am impressed by the amount of food that I got from Aldi’s and the whole shopping ๐Ÿช experience. Really spent what I normally would at Walmart for a lot more meals ๐Ÿด and options. Those chicken tenders were really good – far better than microwave chicken paddies plus I have two more meals in the freezer. And I ton of yummy ๐Ÿ˜‹ fruit and veggies. ๐ŸŒฝ

I got the clippings from John Wolcott house ๐Ÿก. It was nice to see them but it felt so odd stepping back when I was handed the box ๐ŸŽ and talking real briefly while social distancing. I put hand sanitizer on both before and leaving and left them in my truck overnight ๐Ÿ“ฐ before looking at them in the morning. I think with the cold overnight and the fact that I doubt they’ve been exposed to the virus the clippings should be safe to review later on tomorrow.

Tonight will rain likely, mainly after 3am. Patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 42 degrees at 12am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 28th. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 44 degrees. The record low of 0 occurred back in 1923.

Its definitely a very quiet night with the rain on the roof ๐Ÿ’ฆand no traffic on the roads as everything is all but shutdown. I thought about riding the exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ but decided against it as my neighbors are home. I watched an Off Grid video and a Big Clive Electronics video this evening that I downloaded earlier in the week. ๐ŸŽฆ

I also finished my eight book of the year, The Big Tiny about this woman who built a ๐Ÿก on a construction trailer like you might see for demolishing a building, towed by a pickup truck and lived in it. The Tiny House movement is fascinating, although I think I’d want home slightly larger although maybe smaller my current one bedroom apartment. There are a lot of options out there, and while I wouldn’t necessarily want to build something, I am very interested in some of the off grid hunting camps I’ve looked at that are pretty rustic but certainly not in New York and probably not in the Salt Belt.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 19% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the west (270ยฐ) at an altitude of 27ยฐ from the horizon, some 246,074 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 1st. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บAin’t going to see it with the rain. The moon will set in the west-northwest (295ยฐ) at 11:37 pm. The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Tuesday, April 7. The darkest hour is at 1:01 am, followed by dawn at 6:16 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:45 am in the east (85ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:22 am with sun in the east (91ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 24 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain. ๐ŸŒง High of 48 degrees at 1pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 25th. Southeast wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1946. 5.6 inches of snow fell back in 1984.โ„

The next few days are going to be quite rainy. ๐Ÿ’ฆ I’ll probably run to the laundromat tomorrow morning early and call ๐Ÿ“ž the folks to see how they are doing. I probably should skip Sunday dinner to be safe – at least that’s what the experts say. I’ll talk to them and get their thoughts but maybe it’s best to stay away for a few more weeks. I’m hoping by Easter ๐Ÿฐ things will calm down with the virus and things will be better again. It’s just scary times we live in.

I got the laptop from work today and will be able to use that instead of my personal computer ๐Ÿ’ป for work stuff, although I was told it doesn’t have Microsoft Office on it yet but they will install it soon. So I won’t have to use the library Wi-Fi on rainy days from my truck which is nice. First half of the week looks bad so I might be stuck at home which kind of sucks but maybe it will further help starve the virus for now. I’m just getting so tired ๐Ÿ˜ด of day after day of Coronavirus, filled with scary stats and numbers ๐Ÿ”ข.

Latest long range forecast for next weekend looks increasingly rainy โ˜” but it’s a long ways off and I’ll take it one day at a time. Things aren’t so muddy and I’m thinking this rain may do a number on the snow in the Adirondacks which opens up further options such as NY 8.

In four weeks on April 25 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (289ยฐ) at 7:49 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 54 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 66 and 38 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 63 and 41 degrees. The record high of 89 degrees was set back in 2009.

Looking ahead, Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ is in 3 weeks, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 7 weeks, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ is in 8 weeks, Last Day of Session ๐Ÿ› is in 12 weeks and Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 12 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 54 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Long Point

March 28, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 50 ๐ŸŒธ! That’s a real sign of spring. Three weeks to Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ. Partly sunny and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind.

I don’t think it was a bad idea ๐Ÿ’ก to stay home this weekend. Last night was beautiful ๐ŸŒƒ but it got chilly around eleven, though I’m sure it wouldn’t have been bad by a campfire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Hoping for better weather next week, and maybe taking a three day weekend. Heck, maybe I can even work one day from camp if it’s sunny and quiet out. โ›บ

Today will rain likely, โ˜” mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 53 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 3rd. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.โ„

The plan for today is to walk ๐Ÿšถ at Schodack Island State Park โ›ฒ, return the broken MIFI adapter and pick up the work laptop, ๐Ÿ’ป get the Reszin Adam’s newspaper clippings ๐Ÿ“ฐ from John Wolcott, come home and work on my DEIS comments ๐Ÿ“ regarding the proposed Crossgates Development in the Pine Bush.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-20.2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:40 pm with the sun in the west (269ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (275ยฐ) starting at 7:15 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:45 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west-southwest (256ยฐ) at an altitude of 40ยฐ from the horizon, 246,203 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:19 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 47 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 42 degrees at 4am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 28th. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. At least that should get the salt off the roads and help things from getting too dried out, but it certainly won’t help with the mud. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 44 degrees. The record low of 0 occurred back in 1923.

Tomorrow morning early on, I’ll run to the laundromat ๐Ÿ‘š and go grocery shopping. ๐Ÿ I am probably not going to see my parents this weekend but we’ll see. I’ll call them and see how they go they’re doing. ๐Ÿ“ž I’ve been pretty isolated this week but you never know and they should stay away from senior citizens.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ when the sun will be setting at 7:41 pm with dusk at 8:10 pm. On that day in 2019, we had cloudy skies, rain showers and temperatures between 58 and 46 degrees. Albany hit a record high of 90 back in 1976.

Agency Buildings

March 27, 2020 Night

Good evening! Clear and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ I’m sitting out back and it’s a pretty nice starry โœจ evening but it’s getting cold quickly. Temperatures will drop below around 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

So it was a pretty nice day for a work day. โ˜€ Hard to argue against working from home when the sun is shining. That said, everything is so up in the air these days, I miss the old days. I spent a few hours at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center working on some stuff on the internet and uploading some new content to the blog and then I went for a walk up Bennett Hill. ๐Ÿšถ Some people are a little annoyed but most are friendly when I step way back for social distancing on the trail. You hear how bad Coronavirus can be for some one even my age, and I really want to avoid it as long as possible ๐Ÿ™† but I’m also not going to lock myself in my moldy nasty apartment when there is fresh air outside to breathe in away from others. Sat out back for a while after my evening walk. ๐ŸŒƒ Read for a while under the bright ๐Ÿ”† 100 watt bulb out back. Lots of stars tonight and the moon is pretty.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 29 degrees at 4am. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 26th. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 3 occurred back in 1923.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 12% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the west-northwest (284ยฐ) at an altitude of 6ยฐ from the horizon, some 248,314 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 2nd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Tuesday, April 7. The darkest hour is at 1:01 am, followed by dawn at 6:18 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:46 am in the east (86ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:24 am with sun in the east (92ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 27 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain, mainly after 4pm. ๐Ÿ’ฆIncreasing clouds โ›…, with a high of 53 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 3rd. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.โ„

I am thinking about an early morning walk ๐Ÿšถ at Schodack Island State Park and then swinging by the office to pick up the laptop and return the broken network adapter ๐Ÿ”Œ then get the box of files ๐Ÿ“‚ for the Reszin Adam’s documentary from John Wolcott that I’m working Cynthia Pooler on. I’ve been listening to her Focus on Albany podcast lately, it’s really good. I’m not going to really visit much with John though – he’s pretty frail so his doctor ๐Ÿ˜ท is recommending a very strict isolated for him. It’s understandable – if he gets the bug he’s not likely to survive.

I haven’t really decided if I will visit my parents this weekend. ๐Ÿ‘ช It would be nice to join them for Sunday dinner but probably safer if I stayed away. Hopefully only a few more weeks before the risk drops significantly with the warming weather and the peak of the virus infecting all the easy targets. Plus I’ve gotten the allegeries bothering me again. Maybe from mold from cleaning the bathroom ๐Ÿšฝ although lately I think it’s something outside that’s been irritating my nose ๐Ÿ‘ƒ and throat. Been flaring up and then going away for two weeks now, although Claradin D helps a lot.

I’ve been studying the numbers ๐Ÿ”ข and the curve compared to where it is and despite rising there seems to some leveling off with Coronavirus at least in Upstate NY. I am hopeful that we can reach the peak relatively soon, herd immunity will build up and life can return to normal. ๐Ÿ“Š That said, the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ is going to get devastatingly bad over the next few weeks, we all are expected to loose at least a few loved ones and friends from Coronavirus but hopefully not too many people. Projections aren’t reality and expodential curves can and do bend by breaking chains ๐Ÿ”— of transmission but it’s still a disaster. And that doesn’t even include the chaos in all other parts of the economy or how our civil society is falling apart and corruption is surging at all levels of government all thanks to an opportunistic strain of RNA that’s hijacking the bodies of humans across the world.

In four weeks on April 24 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (289ยฐ) at 7:48 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 54 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly cloudy and temperatures between 61 and 42 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 62 and 40 degrees. The record high of 81 degrees was set back in 2001.

Looking ahead, Good Friday โœ๏ธ is in 2 weeks, Arbor Day ๐ŸŒณ is a month away, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 5 weeks and 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 10 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 55 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Snake Mountain

March 27, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Two weeks to Good Friday โœ๏ธ. I am thinking of I get Good Friday off that would be nice to tack another day on the weekend for you road / camping trip. โ›บ I normally socially distance when I travel and camp as I like having big fires ๐Ÿ”ฅ , listening to music ๐ŸŽถ and shooting guns ๐Ÿ”ซ and I can wear gloves when I pump gas. โ›ฝ Trust me, you know my preferred music type, you want to social distance me.

Partly cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a north-northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Incredibly beautiful morning. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Such a nice morning. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Too bad it’s a work day and while I’m not stuck in an office I am sure projects will be coming my way so I can’t get too far from my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ and laptop. I am actually getting a work laptop for official duties which is good because I am not a big fan of using my personal laptop as I don’t like mixing work and personal stuff. I certainly don’t want to use a work VPN on my personal computer for obvious reasons. ๐Ÿ’ป

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 58 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 14th. Northwest wind around 8 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1998. 6.7 inches of snow fell back in 1959.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-20.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). First above fifty degrees in the sky – that should lead to some nice warm spring days. A six foot person will cast a 5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:39 pm with the sun in the west (269ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (275ยฐ) starting at 7:13 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:44 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (261ยฐ) at an altitude of 30ยฐ from the horizon, 248,511 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:18 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 31 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 29 degrees at 6am. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 26th. I’m surprised the average low is now thirty – true sign that spring is coming. ๐ŸŒธ Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 3 occurred back in 1923.

Tomorrow will rain likely, mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds โ›… , with a high of 54 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 5th. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, rain before 8am, then showers likely, mainly after 11am. ๐Ÿ’ฆ High near 51. Southeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 50 degrees.

I seriously thought about heading out of town this weekend โ›บ but I think Saturday will be quite cloudy โ˜and I would be taking down camp in the cold rain. Plus I really should work to save money – between car insurance and rent I have $1,100 leaving my bank account today,๐Ÿ’ธ although fortunately next Tuesday is a pay day.๐Ÿ’ฐ That said, I owe New York State over $300 in two weeks ๐Ÿ’ต between the quarterly tax payment and the usual credit card bill, as I rarely use cash ๐Ÿ’ณ.

That said, maybe next weekend. ๐Ÿ’ญ The long range looks very good for Friday through Sunday, a week from now โ›บ and trout season ๐ŸŽฃ will be open. Question is how busy I’ll be during those days. Not sure, but if it’s relatively quiet around the office ๐Ÿข, we’ll home office I could take next Friday off.

But as previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Good Friday โœ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm with dusk at 8:01 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 50 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 56 degrees. That might also be a good weekend to camp โ›บ. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a south breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Laying out back in my truck cap, reading ๐Ÿ“– a book about tiny house living. Nice evening. The snow is gone once again but we could some day once again have snow in the closing days of March or April. But I’m not urging it on. โ„ Honest, I want the snow to be home so I can travel and camp. At least it won’t be cold for a while. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

It was another pretty quiet day at work, ๐Ÿ’ป I went down to the library for a while to do some research I couldn’t just do on my phone. I then came home and sat my phone and nothing further came in. I ended up sitting out back, working on some blog posts and doing some reading ๐Ÿ“– until it was time to clock out. ๐Ÿ•’ Things have been so disorderly since the mandatory work from home started and while it’s good to be employed – unlike the millions that aren’t – it’s scary times for sure. ๐Ÿ‘พ I just keep reading the headlines and I get the numbers game society is up against and both the crushing economic challenges we face and the near impossibility of stopping a virus that doubles every six days, which means every six day you raise it to the n-th power.

I just want things to return to normal. ๐Ÿš Get up every morning, catch the bus downtown, take the express bus home at five o’clock, ๐Ÿ•”head out of town in the summer to camp โ›บ, not excessively worry about washing one’s hands or touching a public door knob. ๐Ÿšช Simple things that are gone from our lives today. Old routines everyday at work, a predictable future ๐Ÿ”ฎ. It does save time working from home and I can sleep ๐Ÿ˜ด in late but I liked the old routine, visiting my family ๐Ÿ‘ช and seeing my colleagues at work.

Later on in the evening, I walked down to the park โ›ฒ. Odd to go down there on such a nice night and see nobody there except some outlaw teens playing basketball ๐Ÿ€ at least until the cops ๐Ÿ‘ฎ see it and tell them to go home. I thought ๐Ÿ’ญ about bringing my book down there to read ๐Ÿ“– but truth be told I didn’t really want to sit on the park bench and sitting on grass is not a good idea as I’ve picked up ticks there before and this is a bad tick year. ๐Ÿœ

Honestly I don’t want to get Coronavirus if I can all avoid it – I’ve been very socially isolated and when I’m out walking ๐Ÿšถ I try hard to maintain distance. The last public place I was in since Saturday was Stewart’s and in the past two weeks the only other two public places outside of the woods or my truck is North Greenbush Shop Rite ๐Ÿช and Stewart’s Gas. โ›ฝ

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 41 degrees at 6am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 25th. South wind 5 to 9 mph. I closed the windows โฌœ but the heat remains off. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 22 degrees. The record low of 11 occurred back in 1975.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 6% illuminated. At 8 PM, the moon was in the west (268ยฐ) at an altitude of 16ยฐ from the horizon, some 250,323 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 2nd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บGoing to take a while to get there if you obey the dictims of the Albany. At least once your there, you’ll have a hell of a social distancing going on. But then again, your probably not going to get Coronavirus through your space suit. ๐Ÿ‘ฝThe moon will set in the west-northwest (283ยฐ) at 9:32 pm. The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Tuesday, April 7. The darkest hour is at 1:02 am, followed by dawn at 6:20 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:48 am in the east (86ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:25 am with sun in the east (92ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 29 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 57 degrees at 4pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 12th. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Should be another real nice day. A year ago, we had sunny skies. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1998. 6.7 inches of snow fell back in 1959.โ„

In four weeks on April 23 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (288ยฐ) at 7:46 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 54 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, warm, rain showers and temperatures between 75 and 50 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 62 and 40 degrees. The record high of 87 degrees was set back in 2007.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 8 weeks remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I am looking forward to that holiday weekend, and hopefully by then the worse of Coronavirus will be done ๐Ÿ‘พand things will have a chance to return to the normal swatting at black flies. Yes, I really should plan on speeding more time in researching a screened in picnic table tent to make black fly season camping โ›บ a lot more fun.
