October 17, 2020 Evening

Good evening! Clear and 34 degrees at the Cherry Ridge Camping Area. ๐ŸŒŒThere is a south-southwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Cool but clear, I have a big ol roaring fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ tonight to stay warm.

While I was kind of hoping I’d have the whole camping area here to myself ๐Ÿ‘ค so I could listen to music ๐ŸŽถ as loud as I wanted to, there are a few campers down the way and they seemed to have gone inside pretty early because of the cold. I know that I usually prefer to camp at a roadside site that is more spread out but there aren’t many options nearby.

It was a nice day, lots of blue skies and fall colors ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒž but as to be expected in higher elevations they had very much faded away. Spent the bulk of the day at Glimmerglass State Park ๐Ÿž and then poked around Cooperstown for a while, which was really hoping but I didn’t want to spend too much time there with the pandemic. ๐Ÿ‘พ Of course, because I’ve been traveling my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ wants me to install the state’s COVID-19 tracking app but honestly that’s creepy and it’s not like I’ve been indoors or near anybody except for a brief stop at Hannaford on Daunesburg to pick up some groceries. ๐Ÿช

All day was kind of cold โ„ although part of it was I’m unwilling to accept winter is coming and I was just wearing a t shirt ๐Ÿ‘š with my vest. The colors were really good down by the lake and up here by camp. โ›บ

I really like the rough cut lands ๐Ÿšœ๐Ÿš๏ธ of the backroads of Otsego and Madison County, the mud and manure, the run down farm houses and the earthy smell of livestock. ๐Ÿฎ The junk cars and rusty tractors, the goats ๐Ÿ staked down in front yard, the deer ๐ŸฆŒ hung from the tree, the pig pen ๐Ÿฝ in the corner of the yard.

In a few years I plan to live in a place like that. ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ– I’m making good money at my job now ๐Ÿ’ต but I’m really trying to save every penny I can, so I can eventually own land out in the country, live in small town. But not New York State – I don’t want to have to beg some judge for a pistol ๐Ÿ”ซ permit and I want to be able to have burn barrels ๐Ÿ›ข and have fires to burn debris and brush whenever I want and not spend all my money on property taxes. In other words rural living minus the New York State part. Kind of like Pennsyltucky minus the high taxes although there is a lot to like about the state especially in the Pennsylvania Wild Region although many other parts of the state have wooded hills above the fertile valleys. ๐ŸŒ„

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 30 degrees at 3am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 13th. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Tonight will have 13 hours and 3 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over last night. Always amazing how fast winter comes when it gets well underway. Nights are so long now and it seems like nine 9โƒฃ o’clock is the middle of the night now.

Tomorrow will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a high of 56 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 25th. South wind 9 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 52 degrees. Corner

October 1, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 58 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒ• Calm wind. Sitting out back, although a few clouds are pushing in. Nice evening not super cold. Bright out with the Harvest Moon ๐ŸŽ‘ but already the clouds are pushing in. ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

First day of October ๐ŸŽƒ came and went quickly. Busy but rather uneventful and it was nice enough I could sit outside and work for a while. ๐Ÿ’ป Remote work has its benefits when the weather is nice for sure. I was looking at the back of my truck thinking it would be nice to get out camping soon โ›บ but not this weekend, I have too much going on and I don’t think it will be that nice of a weekend.

Finally got shopping ๐Ÿ›’ this evening but I came close to getting into a crash on my way home. ๐Ÿ’ฅ Never saw the car coming ๐Ÿš˜ until both of us slammed on our brakes. It was a busy day and I hadn’t had dinner yet and I was tired ๐Ÿ˜ด and distracted. Such a busy day and my mind was wandering. I shouldn’t have been driving. ๐Ÿก I am glad when I work downtown there is the bus ๐Ÿš to take me home.

It’s been such a busy past few days at work. ๐Ÿ’ผ It doesn’t help that I’ve gotten into the naughty habit of staying up much too late so I’m not preforming my best and I’ve struggling to keep my eyes open ๐Ÿ‘€ between the emails. ๐Ÿ“ง My phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ first rang at 9:01 am and kept ringing except for a few minutes when my phone pinging from email. ๐Ÿ”ข. Some of the stuff today was painfully difficult number crunching too. Tonight I’m in bed ๐Ÿ› and will be sleeping by 11 tonight. I’ve been making the excuse that I can sleep in the mornings as I don’t have a bus ๐Ÿš to catch but that’s a lousey excuse because I still wake up early with the sun. ๐ŸŒ…

I went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and that was non eventful except for a car I walked past that was pulled over with a headlight out. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ I wonder how many police officers will be without a job come Election Day. ๐Ÿšจ While politicians can’t fire civil servants that endorse their opponents I think it’s obnoxious that so many of the units are going so strongly for Trump and the fear of crime thing. ๐Ÿ˜จ It’s stupid messaging when crime is so low and local government budgets are so tight. ๐Ÿ’ต

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 4am. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 48 degrees at 4am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 25th. Light northwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It was humid. It got down to 49 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1972.

Tonight is the Harvest Full ๐ŸŒ Moon. At 10 PM, the moon was in the east-southeast (123ยฐ) at an altitude of 31ยฐ from the horizon, some 251,648 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by April 10th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Hunter ๐Ÿน Moon is on Saturday, October 17. The darkest hour is at 12:46 am, followed by dawn at 6:26 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:54 am in the east (94ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:31 am with sun in the east (100ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 18 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 60 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 15th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 11am. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. It became humid as the day progressed. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1927. There was a dusting of snow in 1899.โ„

I have a Zoom Meeting tomorrow so I’ll probably work from the library. ๐Ÿ“™ It’s pleasant now that the weather is cooler. I also have an updated theme and look and feel for the blog that I will make live tomorrow. I’ve been testing it for a week now. ๐Ÿ’ฃ It’s mostly just CSS style sheet changes but I think you’ll like it.

Think I heard the first mouse in my apartment this year. ๐Ÿ Nights are getting cold. With the mice as bad as they are in the woods maybe I should try a drowning bucket trap this year to see how many I can catch. Or get a cat. ๐Ÿ™€ My last neighbor had a cat, never had any mice then. I don’t like pets but when I have a hobby farm I could see having a cat to control rodents in the barnyard ๐Ÿ but I do worry about the impact on the birds ๐Ÿฆ.

In four weeks on October 29 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (252ยฐ) at 5:51 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 44 minutes and 29 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly cloudy, warm, rain showers and temperatures between 64 and 53 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 55 and 36 degrees. The record high of 77 degrees was set back in 1946.

And only 13 weeks until we say goodbye to 2020. It’s been a fun year, as John Lindsey would say.

Looking ahead, Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 2 weeks, November ๐Ÿฅง is a month away, Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ is in 8 weeks, December ๐ŸŽ„ is in 2 months, 7:15 AM Sunrise โŒ›๏ธ is in 10 weeks, Christmas Eve ๐ŸŽ… is in 12 weeks, New Years Eve ๐ŸŽ† is in 13 weeks, New Years Day 2020 ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 3 months, Coldest Week of the Year ๐ŸŒฌ is in 15 weeks, Wolf Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 17 weeks, February ๐ŸŒง is in 4 months, Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day ๐Ÿฅ› is in 19 weeks and National Drink Wine Day ๐Ÿท is in 20 weeks.

Scenic Driving Last Friday

October 1, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy October ๐ŸŽƒ and Harvest Moon ๐ŸŒ•! Two weeks to Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚. Partly cloudy and 53 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a south breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 49 degrees.

Well Happy October. ๐ŸŽƒ How fast the seasons change. ๐Ÿ‚With the colder nights lately the leaves are changing fast, earlier than many years. I bet with the rain and wind ๐Ÿƒ soon they’ll be pretty much gone from the higher elevations of the Adirondacks.

I stayed up much too late and I’m paying for it this morning. ๐Ÿ’ค I tried to sleep in without much luck but I skipped my morning walk. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป Pancakes ๐Ÿฅž for breakfast this morning. And lots of coffee โ˜•. I had enough milk but I’ll need to get more later on.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 69 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 24th. Maximum dew point of 52 at 10am. South wind around 7 mph becoming west in the afternoon. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. It became humid as the day progressed. The high last year was 78 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1927. There was a dusting of snow in 1946.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:46 pm with sun having an altitude of 44ยฐ from the due south horizon (-26.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:00 pm with the sun in the west (260ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (266ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:38 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:04 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east (92ยฐ) at an altitude of 1ยฐ from the horizon, 251,534 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:38 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 66 degrees. The dew point will be 48 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 43 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly after 4am. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 48 degrees at 6am.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 60. West wind 3 to 7 mph. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 61. Maximum dew point of 42 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 65 degrees.

It is so tempting to get out of town this weekend ๐Ÿ• but I don’t think so as I just got back from the Adirondacks and I have too much work to do this weekend. Good for hiking though.

As promised no more paper recycling dumpsters at the park and ride. ๐Ÿ“„ โ™ป That’s disappointing because it seems like I always have so much paper trash that now I’ll have to take to the transfer station. Maybe I can roll ๐Ÿฅ it up into logs and burn in campfires to supplement purchased or gathered wood ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ although my experience is that paper – especially those glossy circulars that they flood your mail box with ๐Ÿ“ฌ have loads of clay and don’t burn well. ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 6:12 pm with dusk at 6:41 pm. On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 62 and 39 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1897.

Tinker Falls

September 27, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy More Night then Day ๐ŸŒŒ! Dreary start to the darker part of the year with the skies cloudy and gray but it’s supposed to clear later. Next Sunday is Last Sunset After 6:30 PM ๐ŸŒ†. Even darker come October. I better work to get that lantern ๐Ÿฎ up to full brightness again. It was good until it plugged with carbon again Cloudy with a few drops of rain and 59 degrees at the Lake Pleasant. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ There is a south-southwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 59 degrees. The skies will clear around noontime.

The leaves have gotten really colorful around camp ๐Ÿ‚and are really starting to fall. With the rain and inevitable wind over the next few days I’m sure most of them will be gone by next weekend although that’s not at all surprising for the Adirondacks. I’m actually a bit surprised at the reports of good color in the Catskills at this point, usually that’s a bit later around Columbus Day Weekend โ›ต.

Today will be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny โ›…, with a high of 75 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 10th. Maximum dew point of 60 at 9am. South wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2017.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:49 pm with sun having an altitude of 44.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-25.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:09 pm with the sun in the west (262ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (268ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:47 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 56 seconds with dusk around 7:13 pm, which is one minute and 48 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the southeast (136ยฐ) at an altitude of 16ยฐ from the horizon, 243,384 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:49 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 72 degrees. The dew point will be 60 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 56 seconds over yesterday.

I am thinking about hiking Pillsbury Mountain today or going back to Pillsbury Lake โ›ฐ๏ธ but I’m afraid that the firetower will be crowded and no parking up there. I might park at Sled Harbor ๐Ÿ…ฟ and walk from there – the dreary weather might decrease the popularity. The thing is that I don’t know that many very scenic hikes around here that aren’t really popular that I haven’t done a million times before. ๐Ÿ‘ช I just spend a lot of time up here because I have decent cellphone and internet access in this area for work.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers after 2am. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 59 degrees at 5am. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around August 26th. Maximum dew point of 62 at 10pm. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 54 degrees. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1947.

Thursday is October 1st so after that I can camp โ›บ at Stoney Pond in Nelson without a camping permit. ๐ŸŽซ I am thinking about a fall trip out to Central NY and I could do Zoom Meetings from either the Cazenovia or Hamilton libraries.๐Ÿ’ป I don’t want to go out there Columbus Day Weekend but if I go too late in October it will be bow season ๐Ÿน and I want to have the woods largely to myself to small game hunt. ๐Ÿ”ซ I also might do some fishing ๐ŸŽฃ at Nelson Swamp off the bridge. Maybe three nights at Stoney Pond and a few at Cherry Ridge ๐Ÿ’ in Brookfield.

As previously noted, next Sunday is Last Sunset After 6:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 6:32 pm with dusk at 7:01 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 59 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1891.

 Dredging The Lake

September 26, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 62 degrees at the Lake Pleasant. โ˜๏ธThere is a south-southwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 59 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 am.

I can’t believe how dark end dreary it got after a nice day. ๐Ÿ˜• Clouds just kind of pushed in and it got dark early. The nights are already pretty long but are even longer in this lousy weather. But at least tomorrow should be nicer. A few drops of rain ๐Ÿ’ง this evening but nothing major so far.

Today was a nice day with lots of color exploring Watch Hill on Indian Lake and Sawyer Mountain โ›ฐ which I was less impressed with. I thought about also hiking back to Rock Lake but it was already getting late and sunset is so early this time of year. I think if I did it again I’d either have skipped Sawyer Mountain – which is best enjoyed in the morning hours due to the overlook location – or spent less time at the Indian Lake library uploading photos slowly ๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธon the very sluggish Wi-Fi that is common in the Adirondacks.

Spent some time laying in the hammock for a while and had a small fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ, listening to podcasts until around 10 pm. Nights are long this time of year so it’s difficult to stay up particularly late. A bunch of loud motorcycles ๐Ÿ came through but after the thunderous rumble they were gone as fast as they came. While no Moose Festival this year in Indian Lake it was packed with motorcyclists when I drove through town.

Tonight will have isolated showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 57 degrees at 3am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 2nd. Maximum dew point of 59 at 8pm. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had patches of fog in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1947.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 78% illuminated. At 8 PM, the moon was in the south-southeast (159ยฐ) at an altitude of 23ยฐ from the horizon, some 240,582 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by March 28th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Hunter ๐Ÿน Moon is on Thursday, October 1. The darkest hour is at 12:50 am, followed by dawn at 6:22 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:51 am in the east (91ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 56 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:28 am with sun in the east (98ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 4 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 58 seconds over last night.

I think it’s the camp grittle that is attracting mice to my truck cap. When it’s not in the camper there doesn’t seem to be a mouse problem. ๐Ÿญ Of course tonight I spilled some rubbing alcohol everywhere and my truck cap smells like a doctor office ๐Ÿข so no mouse would dream of going near my truck cap. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I usually bring it to help clean my hands ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป especially now with old Coronavirus being such a worry. ๐Ÿ‘พI doubt the smell ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป will last for long though. Alcohol is very volatile and evaporates quickly.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers before 9am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 73 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 15th. Maximum dew point of 61 at 4pm. South wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2017.

Not sure what my plans are for tomorrow ๐Ÿค”, been thinking about parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ at Sled Harbor ๐Ÿ›ท and hiking back to Pillsbury Lake. I don’t want to have to find a space to park in what is certain to be packed parking lot at the end of Old Military Turnpike. โš”

In four weeks on October 24 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (254ยฐ) at 5:59 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 47 minutes and 28 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 68 and 35 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 57 and 37 degrees. The record high of 75 degrees was set back in 2017.

Looking ahead, Northern Zone Regular Season ๐ŸฆŒ is in 3 weeks, Halloween ๐Ÿฆ‡ and the Blue Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 5 weeks, Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ is in 2 months, Small Business Saturday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 9 weeks, Repeal of Prohibition Day ๐Ÿบ is in 10 weeks, Boxing Day ๐ŸฅŠ is in 3 months, Static Electric Shock Day ๐Ÿงผ is in 15 weeks, National Cheese Lovers Day ๐Ÿง€ is in 17 weeks, 5:30 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† is in 4 months, Save the Pine Bush Turns 43 ๐Ÿฆ‹ is in 19 weeks, 5:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 21 weeks, and Snow Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 22 weeks.

Orchard Road

September 25, 2020 Evening

Happy Weekend! Mostly clear and 67 degrees at the Mason Lake. There is a southwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 54 degrees.

A nice day today but busy one. ๐Ÿ’ผ But I did get out for a nice walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and the leaves were quite pretty. Laying back in the hammock and eventually I’ll get a fire started ๐Ÿ”ฅ once it gets a bit darker.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 50 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 21st. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1947.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 68% illuminated. At 5 PM, the moon was in the southeast (134ยฐ) at an altitude of 8ยฐ from the horizon, some 237,259 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by March 24th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Hunter ๐Ÿน Moon is on Thursday, October 1. Sunrise is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:27 am with sun in the east (97ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and one minute of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 58 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have isolated showers after 2pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 77 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 4th. Maximum dew point of 55 at 11am. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 2017.

I am thinking that I will get a pretty early start in the morning ๐ŸŒ„ and do some hiking before the crowds. I’m thinking about hiking up and over Watch Hill over Indian Lake. ๐Ÿ—ป I do expect it it will be crowded by midday but I’ll probably head back to camp relatively early.

In four weeks on October 23 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (254ยฐ) at 6:01 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 47 minutes and 55 seconds earlier then today. September 23, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 55 degrees. ๐ŸŒ†

A nice night. ๐ŸŒŒ Even a bit warm at least inside. I am getting packed and ready to head to the Adirondacks before work in the morning and will spend the work day in Spectulator. โ›บ Should be a nice colorful autumn weekend ๐Ÿ‚ with temperatures in the mid 70s even up north.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 52 degrees at 5am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 16th. Maximum dew point of 55 at 9pm. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight. In 2019, we had rain in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 56 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1963.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 48% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the south-southwest (213ยฐ) at an altitude of 17ยฐ from the horizon, some 232,223 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by March 18th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The moon will set in the west-southwest (237ยฐ) at 11:10 pm. The Hunter ๐Ÿน Moon is on Thursday, October 1. The darkest hour is at 12:48 am, followed by dawn at 6:17 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:45 am in the east (90ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:22 am with sun in the east (96ยฐ). Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. It was sticky. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 2017.

Should be a great day in the Adirondacks. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿฆ‰ Looking forward to working from that park up by Lake Pleasant and the library up there and then setting up and having a nice campfire โ›บ come evening. It does get dark early this time of year so I should think whether or not I need to buy firewood ๐ŸŒณ on the way up there, less than 50 miles from my destination.

Dropping off paper ๐Ÿ“„ to the recycling dumpsters at the Park and Ride, โ™ป I saw that the town will be discontinuing the paper recycling service come October. I guess I will have to start going to the transfer station more regularly. It’s probably good to be making more regular trips, I should be recycling more plastics and getting rid of accumulated broken shit. ๐Ÿ—‘ Yes, I can probably use some of the paper to start campfires but it seems like so much trash is paper or cardboard. ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐ŸŒฒ I can’t wait until I own land out in country and can just burn it or use it for livestock bedding but truth be told, paper doesn’t burn that great and leaves a lot of ash and residue.

In four weeks on October 21 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (256ยฐ) at 6:03 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 47 minutes and 7 seconds earlier then tonight.
