Very Sketchy Bridge

A while back, the Hammond Pond Bridge washed out, and somebody, probably not the DEC, built this very sketchy bridge out of chip board and 2x4s. I felt the bridge swagging when I crossed it, and I'm a bit concerned about the chip board getting wet and breaking down, but that's the current status of the bridg.

June 14, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. πŸ‘¨‍πŸ’» Back to work again, although today is a remote work day from home. I thought about going in the office, with the cold and rain today,  Three weeks to Hottest Time of the Year πŸ˜…. Pouring rain with a few claps of thunder, around 61 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌩 There is a east-southeast breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. A pretty good thunderstorm this morning. The dew point is 60 degrees.

I wanted to go out for my walk this morning, 🚢‍♀️ but when I first got up it was pouring rain. And then it started to rain even harder. 🌧 It seems like most of today will be a pretty wet day. At least it waited until the work week to get nasty out, although yesterday afternoon was surprisingly hot. πŸ˜… I was going to go with Dad to the Gas Up 🚜 but then Dad decided he wasn’t feeling good with the heat, so I ended up skipping that and going out to my parents house for Sunday dinner then a walk up on Wolf Hill 🐺 on Sunday evening until about dusk. It was kind of a nice evening, I had chicken at my parents house πŸ— and then hiked. Not a lot of wildlife up there, just a few birds in the trees. 🐦

Today will have showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 4pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 71 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1892.

I really need to get to the store today, πŸͺ as I am pretty much out of food. πŸ›’ I have made due most of the past work week but you can only stretch the things you have in the pantry so far until the missing items become a problem. πŸ₯« Plus I don’t like breaking out the canned stuff I have for camping, because that tends to be more expensive and means a lot more trash. I might go to Wally World, as I like their selection of bulk foods and I also really need to get some more undershirts πŸ‘• as the ones I have a pretty darn worn out.

It looks this week will have some snow 🌨 but the question remains how much. Nothing yet this morning but maybe some later on today. Only time will tell. Do we get just a dusting or a few inches from the storm on Wednesday evening? I am not really sure but I’m leaning towards less snow β›„ and more cold. Even if we get snow I’m not seeing it last because I think there is a warming trend ahead. But what do I know, I’m biased as I want to camp during Christmas holiday πŸŽ„ in the Adirondacks.

As I was running πŸƒπŸ» a bit late, I did my morning walk over at the Swift Preserve. Spotted a red tail hawk which almost grabbed a chipmunk 🐿 there but he got away. 🐦 No bluebirds today but a bunch of house sparrows were hanging out in the preserve today. It’s nice having that little area so close to home, even if it’s just some wetlands that a developer wasn’t allowed to develop.
