March 6, 2019 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Last Wednesday when the sun will set before 7 pm until mid September. ๐ŸŒ†. Partly sunny and 13 degrees in Delmar. There is a west-northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The current wind chill is 2. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground but many patches are bare. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at Friday around 2 pm. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ I expect after Sundays rain โ˜” a lot of the snow will be gone. Hopefully it won’t be replaced by ice which has been much too common these days.

Easy waking up again this morning as sun was bright ๐ŸŒ… and rose quite early. I know next week with flip the clock ๐Ÿ•’ ahead an hour it will make getting up more difficult although I’m hoping the fact that I’ve been getting to bed early over the past month ๐Ÿ’ค will help. Honestly I haven’t set my alarm โฐ all week long but I’ve been up at seven each day. I doubt that will be possible next week with the time change.

This morning I tightened up the button on the correct pair of pants ๐Ÿ‘– that I was afraid to have pop off, cooked waffles with peaches and ironed my clothes for work. I was doing okay ๐Ÿ‘Œ for time until I wasn’t but I ended up making the bus ๐Ÿš in time โŒš with a minute or so to spare.

Today will have a chance of snow showers, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 21 degrees at 1pm. 19 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 4 at 10am; Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1974. 10.5 inches of snow fell back in 1887.โ„

The sun will set at 5:51 pm with dusk around 6:19 pm, which is one minute and 12 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for snow showers, clouds โ˜ ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 19 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 7. โ˜ƒ๏ธ There will be a west-northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 30 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of snow showers, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 8 degrees at 4am. 14 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -1 at 4am; West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Going to be a cold night ๐ŸŒƒ for March. In 2018, we had cloudy in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1950.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of snow showers after 8am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 26 degrees at 3pm. 15 degrees below normal. West wind 5 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny. The high last year was 36 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1974. 10.3 inches of snow fell back in 1967.โ„

Today in 1857, Supreme Court of the United States rules in the Dred Scott v. SI have a lot of food, I really should avoid shopping next week not only to save money but also to clean out some of the uneaten fooandford case. ๐Ÿ‘ณ Conservatives still cite the case to this day, as relates to abortion but I’m not fully understanding of its ramifications. ๐Ÿ‘ถI probably should read ๐Ÿ“– up about it.

Yesterday wasn’t a half bad day, I was able to get the 5:55 pm home ๐Ÿก๐Ÿšby six thirty. I got home, cooked up fish ๐Ÿ  and brussel sprouts and rode the excerise bike ๐Ÿšฒ until around eight. Worked on some code for a bit then went out for my evening walk. ๐ŸšถA bit of a chilly evening for sure.

I keep trying to do more excerise each day because I want to be in better shape come spring. ๐ŸŒท I’m not planning to do a lot of mountain hiking ๐Ÿ—ป this year but I do want to do more day hikes back to various fishing ๐ŸŽฃ holes and maybe even some more backcountry camping โ›บ with the hammock. I’ve though ๐Ÿ’ญ about getting one of those battery ๐Ÿ”‹ backup packs that I could use for powering my phone for music ๐ŸŽถ and podcasts on extended trips in the wilderness. ๐Ÿ“ฑ

I programmed in a bunch more messages and improvements to the VMS display I have in my apartment. โ™’ Some are pretty funny, a few are vulgar but who cares only I see them. I also uploaded a bunch more bug fixes that fix little problems with the code. It’s kind of a silly ๐Ÿ˜‹ little thing but I like being wished a good morning, little messages and almanac data.

I checked my pantry and I think I can get away without shopping next week except for a perishables ๐Ÿฑ in other words things like cheese and ketchup that get used up but are essential for good meals. ๐Ÿด I have a lot of food, I really should avoid shopping next week not only to save money but also to eat up some of the uneaten food. ๐Ÿฒ I have close to a full tank of gas so I won’t need to buy gas for a few weeks especially if I don’t head out of town or drive anywhere except out to the folks house on Sunday.

I also discovered another shirt ๐Ÿ‘š in the closet so I can put off buying another shirt for now. Next time I’m out near the Pine Bush ๐ŸŒฒI’ll have to run to the maul and see if they have something that works for me. I really think the quality of the Sears dress shirts declined before they closed. I really liked the comfort of the shirts, they fit me well but they keep wearing out in the elbows and cuffs prematurely in my book. ๐Ÿ“™

I am still thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ my first big trip of the year will be the days leading up to Easter Weekend which is like five weeks away now. โ›บ I don’t think it will be super expensive, I don’t need to buy that much food ๐Ÿฒ and the only other cost maybe is firewood for the first night, gasoline โ›ฝand maybe a thirty rack of cheap beer.๐Ÿป. Oh and I guess some bait for fishing.๐ŸŽฃ

I kind of like the idea ๐Ÿ’ก of a North Country trip but I might not go that far as there are many good trout streams locally. I do want to get away but I don’t want to spend all the time motoring. I’d rather be able to set up campโ›บ and stay in one spot multiple nights relying on the sun โ˜€ for solar power.

Paying all those taxes sucks on April 15th ๐Ÿฌbut I realize it’s kind of good because it means I made dividends and interest last year that were reinvested towards tomorrow. Short term pain now for a better tomorrow. It might take a few decades commitment but I’m looking forward to a better tomorrow. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I got a bunch of relays in, which was the final component I needed for building the smart relay for my truck ๐Ÿšš.I really got to get testing and building things soon ๐Ÿ”œ as spring and camping โ›บ season really isn’t that far away.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† with dusk at 7:29 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2018, we had snow and temperatures between 34 and 30 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 43 degrees. We hit a record high of 70 back in 2012.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, sunny, with a high near 39. Sunday, snow likely before 10am, then rain and snow likely between 10am and 1pm, then rain likely after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Typical average high for the weekend is 41 degrees.

In four weeks on April 3 the sun will be setting at 7:23 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 32 minutes and 30 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 44 and 33 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 53 and 33 degrees. The record high of 79 degrees was set back in 1981.

Looking ahead, 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 1 weeks, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 8 weeks, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 13 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 98 weeks.

March 4, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 40 โ˜€๏ธ! As we head into the spring ๐ŸŒทthings do warm up at an increasing rate, reaching an average high of 50 in only three and a half weeks. Four weeks to April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก. That’s also the first of April and opening day for trout season ๐ŸŽฃin case your not aware. My fishing license expires on April 13th, I might try buying it online this year. It would be easier that way. State budget is also due then, jokes on y’all.

Mostly cloudy and 29 degrees in Delmar. โ˜ There is a north-northwest breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. After last night’s mini snow storm there are 4 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 10 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Not far above freezing but with the sun โ˜€and road salt things are already starting to melt a bit.

It snowed last night ๐ŸŒƒ but didn’t start until relatively late. โ„ I don’t care that much as it’s largely melted off the roads at this point. I skipped my evening walk because I figured I got an hour in on my exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ and didn’t think it was necessary at this point. Plus I was tired ๐Ÿ˜ด. Dimmed the lights retired to bed before ten.

When I first woke up, I turned the heat ๐Ÿ”ฅ up for a bit. No need for it heat by time the sun โ˜€ came up, as things warmed quickly. Expecting a mild day today although not super warm. The south facing windows in my office ๐Ÿข will be nice though with the sun radiating in. Kind of pretty with the fresh snow everywhere, although I’m hoping it’s one of the last.ย Probably not a realistic hope.

Not happy ๐Ÿ˜Š I moved my truck to the grass ๐ŸŒพ, as I don’t think we will get much more snow this week but at least my parking spot will be cleared of snow. ๐Ÿ…ฟ I may want to move it this week so I don’t sink in the soft ground with the warmer March weather (HAH!) ๐Ÿ˜œalthough I did leave it locked ๐Ÿ”’ in 4×4 mode. I do need to get ketchup and dish soap, so maybe I will go out to the store this week and move the truck. Not sure though. Landlord did plow this morning, I was actually a bit surprised, as there isn’t that much snow. Maybe with the new tenants in the house up front, he’s trying to make a good impression.๐Ÿ•ด

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 33 degrees at 11am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 10th. At some point the weather will change and it will feel more like May or June rather than February. Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph. A year ago, we had light snow. The high last year was 38 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1919. 8.3 inches of snow fell back in 1971.โ„

In 1985, Food and Drug Administration approves a blood test for AIDS infection, used since then for screening all blood donations in the United States. ๐Ÿ’‰In 1917, Jeannette Rankin of Montana becomes the first female member of the United States House of Representatives.๐Ÿ™… And in 1957, S&P 500 stock market index is introduced, replacing the S&P 90.๐Ÿ“ˆ

The sun will set at 5:49 pm with dusk around 6:17 pm, which is one minute and 13 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 26 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 14. โ˜ƒ๏ธ There will be a west-northwest breeze at 15 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 24 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Packed up a lunch and dinner ๐Ÿฒ as I figured it’s going to be a long day at work, especially with conference after session. I expect to be at work probably until after sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ but I’m fine with that, I think the bus will still be running ๐Ÿƒ as I doubt I’ll be at work after 11:30, and quite possibly get home much earlier. โŒš

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 9 degrees at 6am. 13 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -2 at 6am; West wind 7 to 13 mph. In 2018, we had light snow in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1948.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of snow showers after 3pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 25 degrees at 2pm. 15 degrees below normal. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light snow. The high last year was 38 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1964. 8.6 inches of snow fell back in 1917.โ„

Yesterday, I hike the rail trail then went over John Wolcott’s house. ๐Ÿ“œ Spent several hours sorting through files, trying to figure out what the old dutch and other documents were all about. I prefer to go over on the weekends, at least while I’m still in town, as it’s more productive to spend a few hours rather then just an hour or two, after work. I’ll have to see though once the nicer weather comes, maybe I can go after work with more sun in the afternoon. The rail trail was nice ๐Ÿš‚ although a bit icy in parts, certainly not snow free. Sat down by the Normans Kill Falls for a while, watching the river. Got a lot of steps in yesterday, for sure.

I put a set of ((parentheses)) around the end of the weekend by watching a video ๐Ÿ“น about the history of LISP. What an odd but useful old computer ๐Ÿ’ป language for sure. Made the half hour on the exercise bike pass by quickly. โณI also watched more of the How Farms Work channel update video I downloaded. I figured I am burning calories, plus learning about a lot of things I don’t know that much.๐ŸšœThe best part about pre-downloading the videos, is I don’t have to watch the commercials for all the commercial products, although I do try to go back to the channels that I like and click the like button, and sometimes run the ads in the background when I’m online so they get their credits and views.๐Ÿšฒ

Reinforced the button โญ• on my pants ๐Ÿ‘–. While that’s a good thing, as they were starting to get loose, it wasn’t the pair I intended to wear today. I wanted to fix it that pair, so it was reinforced. After spending so much time with the needle and thread, ๐Ÿงต it almost made me late to the bus.๐Ÿš But I ended up making it time, so that’s what’s important. I also ordered some more dress pants and another blazer, so I should look sharp, despite the many session days.๐Ÿ•ดI hate having to ration dress pants or wear the ones that don’t fit well. I like being as comfortable as possible at work. I probably should at some point get my jacket dry cleaned, maybe once I get my new one.

Finally took the trash out. ๐Ÿ—‘ It realized it had been inside for a couple of weeks, and I was starting to realize it started to smelled a bit. As I don’t have trash pick up, have a container for the compost, buy in bulk, aggressively recycle and in the summer burn the burnables while camping, ๐Ÿ”ฅ I sometimes forget about taking out the trash while cleaning. It’s actually amazing how little trash I have — three or four weeks of trash easily fit in a single shopping bag. Recycling, especially with those milk bottles takes up a fair bit more space. I wish they had returnables still at Stewarts. At some point, I’ll want to go to the transfer station with the recycling but I usually like to put that off until the end of winter. Much easier in the summer months, when I’m camping and have a fire every day.โ™ป I do find myself always acquiring so many disposable shopping bags, I really should buy some reusable bags. But then again, that might be the law soon. it’s not such a big deal in the summer when I’m camping, as they get used up then, but it’s a annoying how fast they multiply around home in the winter and have to be taken back to the store.

Got the 5 volt โšก linear regulators I ordered from China in the mail โœ‰.ย I am planning to use these for powering the small electronic projects powered my truck, namely the smart-relay I am building and the GPS logger I built last year.๐ŸŒ I used the built-in regulator for an Arduino to power the first version of the GPS logger, but I ended up burning-out the voltage regulator due to the relatively high voltage the truck’s alternator puts out, and the current draw by the GPS and the SD card reader. A linear regulator isn’t ideal for minimizing current draw, but when the truck is running, it doesn’t really matter, as we are only talking a few dozen milliamps. I am still now waiting on the relays I bought from China to do the switching for the smart relay, but I will continue to test and build things on my breadboard.

Pay week this week, which is good, because money is always tight. ๐Ÿ’ฐ My budget is always pretty small, although I try to save money wherever I can — but traveling and camping season is coming soon. Plus I owe the government a shit ton of money come tax day, and my ever escalating truck insurance bill is due the end of the month. It’s my fault, I decided to increase my insurance coverage to protect myself in case I were to get into serious crash, and burned some little child or hit the side of a house. I didn’t think that extra coverage was that much, but it’s kind of added up. I always try to be safe driver, but you never know what shit could happen on the road.๐Ÿž

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Sunday, a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 41 degrees. At least Saturday sounds nice but continued cold next weekend. โ„ Maybe the following week we will get seasonable temperatures? ๐ŸŒธ I’m still hoping to get out for a late winter camping trip soon, but a lot depends on how busy I’m with work and everything else going on in my life. ๐Ÿ• Getting rid of the snow would help too. I don’t drink beer (much) anymore, but I certainly wouldn’t mind a cold one in the wilderness.๐Ÿบ

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก and the start of Trout Fishing ๐ŸŽฃwhen the sun will be setting at 7:21 pm with dusk at 7:50 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 47 and 27 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 77 back in 1986.

Looking ahead, April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก is in 4 weeks, Tax Day ๐Ÿ’ฐ is in 6 weeks, Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ is in 7 weeks, 8 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ is in 2 months, Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 12 weeks, July ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฟ is in 17 weeks, Independence Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 4 months and Last Sunset After 8 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 23 weeks.

Huntersland Hollow

February 27, 2019 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day! Hump Day! HUMP DAY! Two weeks to 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ†. The more you know. Clawdy, oh so clawdy and 10 degrees in Delmar. โ˜ There is a north breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There is some snow on the ground, not a lot, more coming this evening. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at Friday around noontime. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Another chilly and cold late February day. The bright blue skies are gone, I’ll have to turn the lights on when I get to the office.๐Ÿ’ก So be it. At least the winds of earlier in the week are gone. ๐Ÿ’จAt least the bus was on time, and I figure at some point the weather pattern will change and things will warm up. But not today. And we are getting some snow this afternoon to boot.โ„Maybe it will be good for the weekend to do some skiing, although a lot depends if we get snow or rain on Saturday. Otherwise it will be all ice.

Today will snow likely, mainly after 4pm. Before then, cloudy ๐ŸŒจ, with a high of 19 degrees at 2pm. 19 degrees below normal. Half as warm as it should be. Okay, math may not work that way. North wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. I think I’ll be slip sliding my way back home on the bus, although I didn’t bring my boots.๐Ÿ‘ขย  Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny. The high last year was 56 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 1997. 3.6 inches of snow fell back in 2013.โ„

The sun will set at 5:42 pm with dusk around 6:11 pm, which is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for snow to be starting ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 19 degrees. Not a good day to drink before driving home, for sure. Take the bus or an Uber. There will be a east breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 10 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will snow, mainly before 3am. ๐ŸŒจ Low of 18 degrees at 6pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around February 16th. East wind around 6 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. Not a big snow storm, I’m sure the roads won’t be awful come the morning. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became mostly sunny by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 1950.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 28 degrees at 2pm. 10 degrees below normal. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Not real great for melting snow but the sun and breeze will help. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 60 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1903. 9.7 inches of snow fell back in 1948.โ„

Yesterday, much to my surprise, I got to go home by around 5:30. That said, I was pretty tired and after dinner I went to bed around eight. ๐Ÿ˜ดI would have ridden the excerise bike or done my evening walk but I was just so exhausted. The previous night I awoke much too early and came the next day I paid the consequences. When I don’t get enough sleep I’m not only tired but I also tend to get migraines. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I’ve been looking at JC Penny again for pants and because I left their site and came back I got a good coupon. ๐Ÿ˜I’m thinking again about ordering those pants for work, I really should have more pants in my collection for the long session weeks that are coming. I don’t have to have a fresh pair of pants everyday but I kind of prefer it especially in case they get dirty. ๐Ÿ‘–

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, a chance of snow before 1pm, then rain and snow likely between 1pm and 4pm, then snow likely after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Sunday, a chance of snow showers before 7am. Partly sunny, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees. Definitely not a real nice weekend but at least it will melt away the snow we expect to get tonight.

In four weeks on March 27 the sun will be setting at 7:15 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 33 minutes and 4 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 48 and 26 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 49 and 30 degrees. The record high of 78 degrees was set back in 1998.

The past two years we’ve had pretty mild late February into March but this year seems to be an exception. ๐ŸŒทI’m hoping this extended period of cold means that once the ridge breaks down we will have a warm spring. I really want to shut off the heat and open the windows, to say nothing about doing some travel and nights in the wilderness. โ˜บ

Looking ahead, 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 2 weeks, Arbor Day ๐ŸŒณ is in 2 months, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 9 weeks, Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 3 months, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 14 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 99 weeks.

February 25, 2019 9 AM Update

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Next Monday the Average High is 40 โ˜€๏ธ. Most cloudy with a few peaks of sun. and 28 degrees in Delmar. โ„ Only a few gusts earlier, but now it seems like the breeze is picking up a bit ๐Ÿ’จ. Definitely windy come this afternoon, especially in the city with all the buildings for the breeze to blow through The current wind chill is 23 but it fall through the days. The rain and warmer temperatures haven’t been good to frosty, with just piles of snow and a lot of bare ground at this point. โ˜ƒ But the rest of the week should be pretty cold, with things only starting to thaw out at Friday around 11 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

The big story today, at least if the news men are to believed is that it’s going to be a very blustery day.๐ŸŒช Maybe, but it wasn’t too bad walking down to the express bus stop this morning. ๐ŸšA bit chilly, but by the time I got there, I unbuckled my jacket because I was starting to sweat a bit from the calories being burnt.โ™จI heard a few gusts on the bus coming downtown, but for the most part the tree branches are just gently blowing in the wind, and it’s not that windy out for now. But I did leave the heat turned up, so I don’t get stuck with dropping temperatures and a cold apartment when I get home, and the off-chance I loose power tonight, it will make it less cool. I noticed my flashlight isn’t working, but I have another one I can use, worse comes to worse — and if it’s dark tonight, so be it. I’ll just retire to bed early. ๐Ÿ”ฆ

I checked for widow makers over my truck before I parked it last night, and I think I’m good although I guess there is one tree that potentially could fall, but if it did I doubt it would where the truck is parked. ๐Ÿ…ฟ Most of the yard is pretty safe though, as the landlord cut down all the trees.๐ŸŽ‹I made sure the trash can tops were bungees on well this morning before I left, as I’ve had the tops blow off and they can be difficult to find in the neighbors lawn, especially if it snowed like it did that one year. I haven’t been to the transfer station yet this year, โ™ป so the cans are good and heavy, I’d like to say because I’ve worked hard to cut down on waste compared to years past, but it’s probably more to do with the fact I was out of town in the autumn for work, and I was out camping for nine nights in December. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Today will have a chance of snow showers, mainly between 2pm and 3pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 29 degrees at 12pm. Eight degrees below normal. Windy, with a west wind around 30 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 42 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2017. 16.8 inches of snow fell back in 1966.โ„

The sun will set at 5:40 pm with dusk around 6:08 pm, which is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 27 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 11. โ˜ƒ๏ธBlustery, ๐ŸŒฌ with a stiff breeze at 29 mph the west-northwest with gusts up to 53mph. That’s not going to be very fun at the bus stop this evening. ๐ŸŒช Today will have 11 hours and 4 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of snow showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 13 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -1 at 5am; Breezy, with a northwest wind 17 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. I think this is a good evening to stay home and ride the exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ when either watching a video or listening to the podcast. ๐ŸŽง The wireless headphones are great for that, especially now that I got them to pair with the laptop. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became mostly sunny by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of -11 occurred back in 1950.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 20 degrees at 12pm. 18 degrees below normal. That’s ducking cold. Won’t be as windy but still super cold for the last week of March. At least it’s a work day. Maximum wind chill around 5 at 12pm; Northwest wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Granted, it’s better then what a cold day would be like in late December or early January. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1976. 8.4 inches of snow fell back in 1972.โ„

Yesterday I went out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. Picked up some groceries, wasn’t happy that my grocery bill was $55, which is more than I wanted to spend this week but I needed new boxers and they were like $15 for five. ๐Ÿ’ฐ Left the heat turned up today, so there goes more money. At least it seems like the spring will be mild so maybe soon I can turn off the heat until November.

Tomorrow is a session day, so it’s back to wearing the suit and tie.๐Ÿ•ดI was looking on JC Penny’s website for like an hour trying to see if I could order another pair of dress pants to match my blazer, and while I carefully wrote down the label, I am not sure if I could find an exact match — plus they wanted to charge me $9 for the shipping unless I ordered $99 of goods. So many options online, it’s always confusing when your trying to order a matching anything at the store.

I have two perfectly matching pair of pants although one has a tear in a seem , along with two older ones that aren’t a good match, and a newer one.๐Ÿ‘– I don’t wear them all the time, so they’ve held up well but some of the older ones are getting shabbier. I might go to the store during the weekend to pick

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, a chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 30. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees. Doesn’t sound like a really nice weekend, might stay in town as spring can’t be that far away.

As previously noted, next Monday the Average High is 40 โ˜€๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 5:49 pm with dusk at 6:17 pm. On that day in 2018, we had snow showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 38 and 32 degrees. The moral of the story, is average doesn’t mean we have that every week. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1919.

In four weeks on March 25 the sun will be setting at 7:13 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 33 minutes and 15 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had partly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 44 and 28 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 48 and 29 degrees. Looking forward to nicer weather. The record high of 74 degrees was set back in 1910.

Looking ahead, Average High is 40 โ˜€๏ธ in 1 week, April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก is in 5 weeks, Tax Day ๐Ÿ’ฐ is in 7 weeks, Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ is in 8 weeks, Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 13 weeks, July ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฟ is in 18 weeks and Last Sunset After 8 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 24 weeks.

Along the Trail

February 21, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Four weeks to Spring ๐ŸŒท. Ain’t that good news. It was cloudy to start out the day, now partly cloudy but clearing and 36 degrees in Delmar. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground but melting fast. โ˜ƒ It looks like the ice storm they were threatening did not materialize to much, it’s already getting nicer out. Maybe not spring but warm enough to turn the heat back down. ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 11 pm.

Even on a dark mornings like today started out, โ˜ the lights in my bedroom continue to be quite bright making it easier to get up and going. That said, by getting to bed at a proper time and then the earlier sunrise ๐ŸŒ… makes it much easier to get out of bed. โ˜•ย Waffles and coffee for breakfast, took a shower, walked down to the express bus.๐Ÿš

The severe weather turned out to be a bust. โ˜”Some rain coming home but the treated surfaces weren’t bad at all. This morning the roads were fine, and the sidewalks weren’t that slippery but I think they could have used a plow.๐ŸŒจย By morning, it was partly sunny and the roads just wet. I think by the end of the day, the sidewalks will have melted away, with the sun and warmth coming today, along with a wind which will probably expose some bare spots on the ground.

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 43 degrees at 12pm. Seven degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around March 12th. Breezy, with a south wind 6 to 11 mph becoming west 18 to 23 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which cleared to mostly sunny conditions by afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. That’s the record high for the day. This winter though, it seems like winter won’t hit . 11.0 inches of snow fell back in 1929.โ„

The sun will set at 5:35 pm with dusk around 6:03 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 39 degrees. Breezy, 21 mph breeze โ›… from the west with gusts up to 33mph. Today will have 10 hours and 53 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 27 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around March 19th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -08 occurred back in 1963.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 42 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around March 10th. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 40 degrees. The record high of 68 was set in 1997. 14.8 inches of snow fell back in 1893.โ„

After I posted my essay yesterday about not having Internet,ย I got yet another glossy advertisement from Spectrum Cable,ย trying to get me to sign up. ๐Ÿ•ธย I tossed it promptly in the recycling bin.ย โ™ปย I am quite happy not having Internet at home, it’s just obnoxious how they always try to get me to sign up.

I have to say that the Save the Pine Bush dinner last night was one of the most interesting ones I’ve been to in a long time.๐Ÿ“ข Ward Stone was great as was Keith Shue who between the two gave us a good background of the ANSWERS plant’s history and the troublesome future. I was very surprised to learn that should the state put a co generation plant in the ANSWERS facility it will increase emissions by over 50% over the existing steam plant, ๐Ÿญand it will be running nearly all the time compared to the steam plant that only runs part time, especially in modest weather.โ™จ

I really like the improvements to Google Maps on the transit๐ŸšŒ front – I finally upgraded the app which doesn’t happen automatically as I have limited space.๐Ÿ“ฒ I like how the app is cleaner with transit information, tells you in big numbers how long you have to wait, how late the bus is running compared to what it’s scheduled to arrive at. Just update Google Maps and try out the app. Mine doesn’t update automatically, as my phone is always short of memory. I also am finding the battery isn’t a holding a charge very long. I may have to think about plunking down $50 for a new phone come summer. But I will have gotten 2 years out of the Tracphone, which is pretty good for those cheap phones that are just landfill fodder — although even expensive phones these days are basically the same thing.ย ๐Ÿ—‘

I am continuing to work on figuring out on how to build my smart relay for my truck.ย It makes a lot of sense to integrate the GPS logger I built with it now that I think about it more, ๐Ÿ—บย and maybe also bluetooth so I can monitor battery voltages,ย ๐Ÿ”‹ย and the status of the system from my phone when I’m sitting by the campfire. Thenย  I was thinking I could use a hall-effect sensor with it too, and monitor the amperage coming off the solar panel, so I could easily see the power coming off the panel. But then again, that would make the code a lot more complicated. I have ideas, the thing I have build them so they can become more then ideas.๐Ÿค”

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 42. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Going to be great weather for the Save the Pine Bush Hike, assuming the trails aren’t too slushy.ย ๐Ÿ‘ขย Although who knows how much snow will be left come Saturday, and the sand doesn’t always trap the water and muck too much. Sunday, rain before 1pm, then showers likely after 1pm. High near 51. ๐Ÿ’ฆย At least it will keep the heat at minimum over the weekend, assuming it’s not too damp and chilly inside. I doubt though I’ll be opening the windows, but at least I’ll save on heating, which is good because my bills have been kind of high this year Chance of precipitation is 80%. Typical average high for the weekend is 37 degrees. Above average for a few days then, cooling down for next week.

In four weeks, which is one month from now, is theย First Day of Springย ๐ŸŒทย  on March 21 the sun will be setting at 7:09 pm (Daylight Savings Time),ย ๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 33 minutes and 41 seconds later then today. Dusk is at 7:38 PM, which means I might be able to go to the park after work, if it’s not too wet or cold.๐Ÿž In 2018 on that day, we had cloudy and temperatures between 37 and 25 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 46 and 27 degrees. The record high of 78 degrees was set back in 1921. I know I am definitely looking forward to spring, especially once the snow melts and I can start spending more time in the wilderness camping ๐Ÿ•and having a nice fire or two.๐Ÿ”ฅ

Looking ahead, Spring ๐ŸŒท is a month away, Average High is 50 ๐ŸŒธ is in 5 weeks, Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ is in 8 weeks, Easter ๐Ÿฐ is in 2 months, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 12 weeks (cows like to chew their cud when it’s not too warm), Independence Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 19 weeks and August ๐ŸŒป is in 23 weeks.

After Dark

February 20, 2019 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Three weeks to 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ†. Mostly cloudy and 15 degrees in Delmar. โ˜ Calm wind. There are 4.5 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 6 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

This morning when I walked down to Stewart’s to buy milk, โ˜•the air had a tinge of manure ๐Ÿฎ and wood smoke on it,๐Ÿ”ฅduring this most cloudy of mornings prior to the snow and ice coming down later. โ˜ I don’t really live in the country any more but on the outskirts of the suburbs as they start to peter out to the countryside.

After getting milk and having a breakfast of frozen fruit๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ’๐ŸŒ and cereal I walked down to the express bus. ๐ŸšŒย I actually didn’t end up needing the milk today, but maybe tomorrow. Bus was running a little late, which was fine, it showed up but then we hit more traffic heading into the plaza. I don’t care that much about it, I’m not driving.

Today will have a chance of snow, mainly after 3pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒจ, with a high of 28 degrees at 1pm. Eight degrees below normal. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny in the morning, which became partly cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1930. 11.2 inches of snow fell back in 1977.โ„

I’ll take 63 degrees for sure any day now. We are due for a spring thaw anytime๐ŸŒฑ now, maybe a bit later this week although I doubt we will see the sixties anytime soon. But one can hope and maybe God will listen. Trump doesn’t believe in global warming after all.ย But winters aren’t nearly as cold as once where.

Looking forward to the Pine Bush dinner tonight,๐Ÿ it should be really good with the lasagna and Ward Stone speaking. ๐ŸŽค He’s getting up there in the years, so who knows how many opportunities there will be able to hear him in the coming years. He’s an authority on many things, especially things that the state government finds particularly unpleasant like the Coeymans Blue Circle Plant, that was poisoning everything nearby with mercury, at least until they “fixed” the plant with a big upgrade.๐Ÿญ Blue Circle Cement, later known as LaFarge, was built because Governor Thomas Dewey gave them a big tax break to build the non-union plant, to break the cement strike in New York. But we don’t talk about the history anymore.

But actually, Ward Stone is coming to talk about another state proposal, re-powering the old ANSWERS incinerator to work as a micro-grid power plant,ย that will burn natural gas for generations to come, as the climate warms,ย ย ๐ŸŒย to heat and cool the Empire Plaza and other state office buildings, and also generate electricity for the buildings, as an alternative to grid power — and act as a “jump start pack” for the electric grid, which may become more unstableย ๐Ÿ”Œย both when the climate becomes more unstable and more renewables are put on it.

Times change, and sometimes opportunities that once existed suddenly. So definitely come to the Pine Bush dinner, before it’s late.ย ๐Ÿฝ ย 6 PM tonight is the dinner, 7 PM is the free lecture. I think the dinner costs like $12 but I usually end up throwing in $15 or $20 for it.ย  Should be a great evening.

The sun will set at 5:34 pm with dusk around 6:02 pm, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for snow showers ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 27 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be periods of snow and sleet before 11pm, then periods of sleet between 11pm and midnight, then periods of freezing rain after midnight. ๐ŸŒง Low of 26 degrees at 6pm. Sounds like it could be pretty icy later. Well the bus will get me home from the Pine Bush dinner so I’m not that worried about it. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 16th. South wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 2015.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain and sleet before 7am, then a chance of rain between 7am and 10am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 47 degrees at 2pm. 11 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around March 22nd. Breezy, with a south wind 6 to 11 mph becoming west 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected. Not sure if tomorrow I’ll be walking down to the Park and Ride. A year ago, we had mostly sunny in the morning, which became partly cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 2018. 11.0 inches of snow fell back in 1929.โ„

Last night’s commute wasn’t too bad.ย ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš—๐Ÿšƒ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿš๐Ÿš’๐Ÿšš๐Ÿš›ย Traffic actually was pretty light due to the holiday weekend.ย I thought about cooking up some pasta for dinner, but decided on fish sticks and broccoli, as I wanted something different, as tonight is the Save the Pine Bush Dinner.ย ๐ŸŸย Laid back for a while, ate dinner, then hopped on the exercise bike.ย Really wasn’t that hungry,

Then I thought about going down to the library but decided that it would be a would be nice to go for a walk in the evening around 8 pm. ๐ŸšถIn the meantime I decided to ride the exercise bike for an hour while listening to Fresh Air podcast with Andrew McCabe formerly of the FBI and then a video about about Core Memory. ๐ŸŽงย I heard it first on the radio starting, but put on the podcast, so I could listen over my bluetooth headphones while on the bike. I’ll have to ask my neighbor if he can hear the rumble of the bike the next time I see him, but I try not to ride the bike much after 8:30 most nights.

Around 8:30 I went for my evening walk under the beautiful snow moon. ๐ŸŒ• No problem walking in the darkness, plenty of light and the sidewalks were free of ice and snow for the most part. Pretty night but fairly cold but at least the wind had died down. ๐Ÿƒย It was cold, but not that cold.ย That said, I’m certainly looking forward to nicer weather, sitting out back with a cold glass of orange juiceย ๐ŸŠ or maybe ice water with a drop of lemon juice in it.๐Ÿ‹

Came home and laid in bed watching a few YouTube videos๐ŸŽฅ I had previously downloaded, one about thermal storage of heat, ๐Ÿ”ฅย one about stocking rate of cattle on ranches, ๐Ÿฎand one about off grid living. Then I took my contacts out and retired for the night. ๐Ÿ‘I do like how the lights automatically remind me when it’s time for bed, automatically dimming at 10:10 pm๐Ÿ˜ด.ย It really helps when you get to bed at a proper hour for boosting your sleep.ย I always try to bed down by the time the lights start dimming at 10:10 pm. It really is a good reminder.

I am definitely looking forward to those longer nights in a month with dusk not being until after 7:30 pm๐Ÿ•— and hopefully for some warmer nights when I can sit out back, looking up at the stars. โœจย Usually I work on a blog post out back in the warmer weather, although now that I’ve built a system for downloading videos, I might actually watch one of the videos from the channels I’ve downloaded. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of staring at a screen, but I listen to them, and are learning a lot about many different topics, expanding my knowledge and hopefully my future.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Sunday, rain likely before 1pm, then showers likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Typical average high for the weekend is 37 degrees.

NOAA seems to think this weekend will be quite sunny, at least for the Save the Pine Bush hike.ย I am not sure I totally agree, but it will be mild for the ski trip. ๐ŸŽฟI know Sunday still looks to be quite wet, which looks like it will melt the snow, hopefully melting it away the rain and not turning to ice. I am a bit worried about ice again, so if your joining us, bring your microspikes. Skis might not work well.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† with dusk at 7:27 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2018, we had snow and temperatures between 34 and 30 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 43 degrees. We hit a record high of 70 back in 2012.

In four weeks on March 20 the sun will be setting at 7:07 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 33 minutes and 49 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had cold, partly sunny and temperatures between 37 and 15 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 46 and 27 degrees. The record high of 78 degrees was set back in 2012.

Looking ahead, 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 3 weeks, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 10 weeks, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 15 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 23 months.

Setting Sun

February 14, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Valentines Day โค๏ธ! Five weeks to Spring ๐ŸŒท. I think I’m loving that fact more Valentines Day. Snow flurries and 29 degrees in Delmar. โ„ Breezy,16 mph breeze from the west ๐ŸŒฌ . The current wind chill is 17. I don’t think it’s that bad right now in Delmar, I didn’t notice that much of chill walking down to the express bus but shrug, I was walking quickly again. ๐ŸšŒ One of my contacts was bothering me so despite having an early start I stated becoming a bit late. ๐Ÿ‘€There are 5 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 11 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Hopefully that will help with the snow on Big Red. I thought about cleaning off the solar panel but that didn’t happen yet.

Today will have isolated snow showers before 9am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 38 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 26th. I like mild weather. West wind 13 to 18 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had cloudy. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1946. 23.5 inches of snow fell back in 1914.โ„ย I can’t imagine how much Albany would struggle with that much snow today. The city isn’t that prepared for very heavy snows.

The sun will set at 5:26 pm with dusk around 5:55 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 37 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 10 hours and 33 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 41 seconds over yesterday. I noticed on my sign in my bedroom that come another month, we will be up to over 11 hours and 45 minutes of daylight — a big jump, as we inch closer to the first day of spring.

Tonight will have a chance of snow showers after 2am, mixing with rain after 4am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 27 degrees at 12am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 19th. Won’t need to crank the heat up tonight — which is good, because I had my first 3-digit utility bill last month, at $104. I don’t know why my bills have increased so much lately. It’s not like the amount of energy I’ve used has gone up. A bit of a breeze, with south wind 5 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became mist by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of -22 occurred back in 1943.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain and snow showers before 7am, then rain showers likely. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 50 degrees at 3pm. 15 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around March 28th. South wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy. The high last year was 53 degrees. The record high of 55 was set in 2006. 9.0 inches of snow fell back in 1894.โ„

Wednesday wasn’t too bad, I got out of work at five ๐Ÿ•”made it home around the normal time, cooked up some pasta and then worked on a soldering project then went for my evening walk๐Ÿƒ. Listened to more of the Bagman Podcast about Spiro Agnew. ๐ŸŽงย Nice evening, lots of stars.

Got back, hopped on the exercise bike, watched one of the videos from My Self Reliance that I had previously downloaded from YouTube๐Ÿšฒ followed by a video by that farmer down by Whitney Point as he was exploring some tractors at another tractor dealership. Snowmobiles are tricky beasts, especially when your trying to tow heavy loads on trails not well packed. Then took a sleeping pill, retired to bed, and then the lights dimmed and I went to bed.๐Ÿ˜ด

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration. But standards are low in February. It’s actually going to be a bit cool but at least sunny. Saturday, isolated snow showers before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 34. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 31. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees. I am still undecided if I will go out on Saturday to camp overnight in the wilderness, but if I do, it won’t be a bit trip for sure.

In four weeks on March 14 the sun will be setting at 7:00 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 34 minutes and 31 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had snow showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 35 and 29 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 43 and 25 degrees. The record high of 75 degrees was set back in 1946.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Spring ๐ŸŒท when the sun will be setting at 7:09 pm with dusk at 7:37 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2018, we had cloudy and temperatures between 37 and 25 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 46 degrees. We hit a record high of 78 back in 1921. I’ll take some weather where it’s at least 46 degrees. Expectations fall by this time of year for a nice day. Probably be as busy as shire the work at that point though but then April rolls around. ๐ŸŒฑย Maybe even see a bit of green by late April? Or maybe that’s May or even late May in the Adirondacks.

Looking ahead, Spring ๐ŸŒท is in 5 weeks, Average High is 50 ๐ŸŒธ is in 6 weeks, Palm Sunday ๐ŸŒด is in 2 months, Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ is in 9 weeks, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 13 weeks, Independence Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 20 weeks and August ๐ŸŒป is in 24 weeks.
