Good morning! Happy Sunday. ⛪Next Sunday is Regular Time 🛥️. That means another perfectly good hour to waste. Does that mean I get burn it? 🔥 Maybe the weather will be nice enough for me to go camping. ⛺ Heavy rain and 48 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☔ Breezy, ️16 mph breeze from the southeast 🌬 with gusts up to 29 mph 💨💨💨. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 4 am. ☃️

Feeling better today for the most part. ☺ Maybe not perfect but not aching or as sore as yesterday. A bit of congestion but hardly sick as I was only a few days ago. Slept in a bit today and will try to get to bed by 9 pm tonight. 🕘 Going to be wet so if my neighbor is or I’ll probably ride the exercise bike 🚲 for a while to get some exercise in. I do need to get some YouTube videos to watch, maybe when I’m at my parents house later for Sunday dinner. 📹

Today will rain. 🌧 Going to pick up midday so be aware then stop later on. 💦 High of 52 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 5th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 3pm. 🏖️ Southeast wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 43 degrees. The record high of 79 was set in 1963. 1.7 inches of snow fell back in 2016.❄ I don’t remember that storm, we just had rain when I was in the old North Syracuse, a town most famous for the Plank Road that is just asphalt these days and mostly bypassed by Interstate 81.

Continuing to go through my pictures from Dolly Sods 📷 and have been wore on organizing some of the files 📂 on my computer 💻. I finally got around this morning to fixing the missing screw on the old hard drive and reformatting it so I can move some of my videos and other less speed critical stuff ⏳ like videos I’m just playing back or music files. I mean I got have to mean I have to have places to put my Dick Curless records 🎸 and videos of folks combining farm fields. 🚜

Heading out to the folks house 🏡 for Sunday dinner 🍲. Apparently they have the same cold that I have. Hopefully they are feeling better. I wonder if they got it from me or I got it from them. Hard to say, it’s not like I spent much time in their house while I was there housing their dog 🐶.

I still haven’t had a chance to Early Vote ❎ but I want to think a bit more about a few of the candidates 💭 and will vote after dinner on Monday. I bet that will be a relatively quiet time at the polling place. Just have to be on line in the polling place by 8 pm but I’ll try to be there closer to seven. I don’t think poll workers like to have to work late.

The sun will set at 5:55 pm with dusk around 6:24 pm, which is one minute and 25 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for rain to be tapering off 🌧 and temperatures around 52 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 32 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over yesterday.

Yesterday was quite a nice. 🗻 I wish th sun ☀ could have stayed out a little longer while I was at the tower but there was still a decent amount of color up there. It was not a mistake to head home after hiking – it would have been a pretty wet morning for taking down camp ⛺ and I would have to unpack this morning. Plus I had no idea how I would have felt by morning.

Tonight will be scattered showers, mainly before 9pm. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 48 degrees at 4am. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 25th. Northwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1974.

I got to think about getting Big Red inspected now that’s its November. 🔍 My tires will pass inspection this year but probably not next year. ⚫ Not sure if need an oil change I should check Big Red’s DIC. I did add a half quart of oil which is not unreasonable consumption over two thousand miles. Been doing a lot of travel.

Governor Ronald Reagan in 1964 delivers a speech on behalf of the Republican candidate for president, Barry Goldwater. 💬 The speech launches his political career and comes to be known as “A Time for Choosing”.🏯 Politics is such silly business but it pays good and beats shoveling shit for little money. 💰 Plus now I get to go home now from my new windowless office at five each day now.

As previously noted, next Sunday is Daylight Savings Time Ends 🛥️ when the sun will be setting at 4:46 pm with dusk at 5:15 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2018, we had rain and temperatures between 57 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 53 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.

Good evening! Rain showers and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☔ Calm wind. 0.03 inches of rain is expected before it ends tomorrow around 1 am. Not a big storm just enough to wet the pavement.

I am feeling slightly better. 😒 Not as achy and I’ve pretty much done well hiding how sick I’ve felt all day. Final day on one chapter in life, another one next week. New adventures are always fun 🎢 and it’s a great chance to advance my future. Sometimes though this week I have the chills. And the amount I sweat 😰 at times even in my bedroom with the heat off makes me sure I have a fever. But this week I couldn’t afford to just hide under my covers and be sick all week. I packed lunch but with my sick stomach and the fact that I left my fork 🍴 home I didn’t eat it until I got home.

Tonight I went to the presentation 🎥 of Extinction Rebellion at the Bethlehem Public Library. 📚 I had no idea what the group was about but I knew it involved climate change 🌎 and I thought it would be interesting on Friday evening. Should I have stayed home and rested? Surely. But I learned a lot about this civil disobedience group👮 and was reminse once again how dire the crisis is and how content we all are plug our ears. 🙉 Dramatic action is needed but families are busy 👪 and they don’t want to give up their television 📺 and cars 🚙. But maybe protests will get people talking. I do hate it when they delay my commute home and I’m hungry through.

Tonight will be sprinkles likely before midnight, then a chance of light rain between midnight and 2am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 44 degrees at 4am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 4th. Light northwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 27 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1952.

Tonight will have a Waning Crescent Moon 🌘 with 1% illuminated. The moon will rise at 5:10 am. The New Moon will be tomorrow with a chance of showers. The Beaver Moon 🌝 is on Monday, November 11th. The sun will rise at 7:20 am with the first light at 6:51 am, which is one minute and 13 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 13 hours and 23 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 42 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 58 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 21st. North wind around 6 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1963. There was a dusting of snow in 1997.❄

The plan tomorrow is to Early Vote on Saturday around 11 am and then head up to Troy to canvas ✊ for David Bissember. ☑ If there is a line at the polling place I’ll come back Monday. Then maybe walk along the Mohawk Hudson Bike 🚲 trail I’m thinking 💭. I don’t plan on getting an early start as I want to get as much rest as possible. 😴

In four weeks on November 22 the sun will be setting at 4:27 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 30 minutes and 50 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had we cold weather, sunny and temperatures between 19 and 8 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 45 and 30 degrees. The record high of 70 degrees was set back in 1931.

Looking ahead, November 🥧 is in 1 week, Buy Nothing Day 🛍️ is in 5 weeks, Saint Nicholas Day 🎅 is in 6 weeks, Christmas 🎅 is in 2 months, Latest Sunrise of the Winter 🌄️ is in 10 weeks and 5 PM Sunset 🌆 is in 3 months.

October 22, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Two weeks to Election Day 2019 🗳️. Gray and cloudy and 50 degrees on Delaware Avenue catching the late bus into work 🚍. Kind of a normal late October day in Upstate NY. ☁ Dark and gray and smelling like cow shit. 💩 Well, at least out in the country, the corn is chopped, 🌽 they gotta fertilize before the put in the cover crops. 🍀 There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The skies will clear tomorrow around 8 am.

Nice mild morning, dark but that’s expected this time of year. 🌅 It little more sun and less gray would have been nice, but it certainly was mild drinking coffee. I barely needed the heater this morning, it was 47 degrees by the time the sun broke.☕ Enjoyed my coffee as I sat out back with the dog, having some cereal as I took down camp.🍜

This morning I was running late, caught the late bus in, 🚌 as I took down camp at my parents house. Going to rain tonight, so I figure I wouldn’t want to camp in the backyard and tear up the ground unnecessarily.🏕 I don’t want to tear up the grass any more or compact it, and it’s my last day out there come tomorrow. I am glad, as I really don’t like driving. There is always school buses, 🎒 construction, 🚧 and generally traffic and delays to deal with. I used to drive a lot more, but now I really don’t like it.

Today will have a chance of rain, mainly after 4pm. Damn, should have brought my rain coat ☔. Maybe I’ll get wet going home. I can always change. Cloudy 🌧, with a high of 59 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 19th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 5pm. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1979. There was a dusting of snow in 2005.❄

The sun will set at 6:02 pm with dusk around 6:31 pm, which is one minute and 31 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 Won’t be long until the time change, less then two weeks, then it will be dark an hour earlier. At sunset, look for rain showers 🌧 and temperatures around 57 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 46 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 43 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. 🌧 Low of 50 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 23rd. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 42 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1969.

Today in 1897, using a filament of carbonized thread, Thomas Edison tests the first practical electric incandescent light bulb (it lasted 13 1/2 hours before burning out).💡 This was the technology widely used for decades, until the florescent bulb came out and later the vastly superior LED lighting. It’s hard to remember even when incandescent bulbs were common. Been a long time now that LED technology has been quite widely adapted, and even the old florescent fixtures are being replaced with LEDs. Some LED bulbs can last for decades, although the capacitors in the power supplies may fail before the LEDs themselves are buried in the landfill, or burnt in the incinerator or burn pile.🗑 Too bad it’s so hard to recycle ♻ these somewhat rare earths but they don’t do that much.🌍

I keep hearing different reports for the weekend. 🤔 Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 54. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Other models, namely Weather Underground says more rain coming in early on Sunday.🌦 Typical average high for the weekend is 56 degrees. I am inclined to go out to Charles Baker or maybe Stoney Pond in Madison County, but only if the weather is nice. I haven’t been there for a while. I would probably leave work on Friday around 2 or 3 PM, that way I can get set up before dark. But on the other hand, I wouldn’t mind a quiet weekend at home, maybe doing some more canvasing for David Bissember 👊✍✅ on Saturday and then hike in the afternoon. Maybe next weekend will be nicer. Early voting starts on Saturday, so I could vote this weekend if I wanted to git ‘r dun and avoid the election day crowds. Maybe Monday evening would best for me though. Ballot is a shit-ton long., although few are competitive unless you like casting protest votes like I do.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Election Day 2019 🗳️ when the sun will be setting at 4:43 pm with dusk at 5:13 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2018, we had rain showers, partly sunny and temperatures between 48 and 31 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1994.

Christmas in October?

October 16, 2019 Night

Good evening! Rain and 51 degrees in Dormansville, NY. ☔ Breezy, ️17 mph breeze from the northeast 🌬 with gusts up to 31 mph 💨💨💨. I can hear the rain on my truck cap but not the wind yet. The dew point is 49 degrees. The skies will clear Friday around 10 am.

I skipped the Pine Bush dinner because I was feeling under the weather. 😫 I feel like I am getting a cold and my eye was irritated. Maybe the problem is the low air pressure due to the storm and the humidity. Or not sleeping well in the truck. At least it is going to be mild the next few days despite the driving rain tonight into tomorrow. If I feel sick, I’ll take tomorrow off from work.

I was feeling under the weather so while I was at my parents house watching the dog 🐶 I figure I’d watch some YouTube movies. Those old trucker songs are great including the ones I posted earlier tonight. Also did you see that video 📹 I posted earlier about that Adirondack sect? Odd but kind of neat.

Tonight will rain. The rain could be heavy at times. 🌧 Low of 45 degrees at 6am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 4th. Breezy, with a northeast wind 17 to 25 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible. Going to be a wet one. ☔ Two inches of rain is a lot for a day in Albany, outside of extreme weather like a hurricane. 🌀 Bombogensis is a pretty significant weather pattern regardless. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1940.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon 🌖 with 83% illuminated. The moon will set at 10:44 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Sunday night. The Beaver Moon 🌝 is on Monday, November 11th. The sun will rise at 7:10 am with the first light at 6:41 am, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 12 hours and 58 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain, mainly before noon, then showers likely after noon. The rain could be heavy at times. 🌧 High of 47 degrees at 11am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 10th. Breezy, with a west wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 57 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1947. There was a dusting of snow in 1970.❄

In four weeks on November 13 the sun will be setting at 4:35 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 37 minutes and 3 seconds earlier then tonight. October 16, 2019 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? 🐪 Fords don’t have it of course, Three weeks to the Day After Election Day. 🛀 November is coming, even in Trump’s America. Maybe they’ll impeach him in November so it will make for great conversation around the Thanksgiving tables across America. Mostly cloudy and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south-southeast breeze at 10 mph. 🍃.

I stayed over at my parents house last night ⛺ and sat out back for about an hour with a cup of coffee ☕ next to the heater. It was a nice morning but now the clouds have pushed in. ☁ Nice morning but it meant I got a little bit of a late start heading home and had to rush to the bus.🚌

I listened 👂 to the democratic debate for a while last night on NPR. It’s nice that they finally broadcast the debate on the radio 📻 for those of use who don’t own a television. I guess I could also download it from YouTube and watch it but I don’t think I dare about their faces – I don’t own a television so I don’t care if they are pretty or ugly. Their look won’t cause indigestion of they get elected.

Today will rain, mainly after 2pm. ☁ Clouds now but it will be quite wet this evening. ☔ High of 63 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 9th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 5pm. 🏖️ South wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Today will have 11 hours and 2 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. The rain could be heavy at times. 🌧 The first Nor ‘Easter is coming. Low of 46 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 29th. Southeast wind 10 to 18 mph becoming north after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1940.

Wet today and probably tomorrow but not bad for the weekend. A picture perfect autumn weekend on tap. 😎 Get out and enjoy it gone and snow is here. Saturday, sunny, with a high near 60. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Maximum dew point of 48 at 3pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 59 degrees. I kind of wish I didn’t have my Pine Bush hike because I would be a nice weekend to get out of town. 🌲

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Day After Election Day 🛀 when the sun will be setting at 4:42 pm with dusk at 5:12 pm (Standard Time). I’m sure farmers will be slinging manure on that day as they do a lot of that in November. 💩 🐮 On that day in 2018, we had drizzle showers, cloudy and temperatures between 54 and 44 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 73 back in 2015.

Swamp Along the Adirondack Northway

October 15, 2019 Night

Good evening! Clear and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind.

Tonight seems a lot warmer than last night 🌃 without the wind but the mercury is dropping fast. I listened to the radio 📻 for the Democratic Presidential Debate but quickly lost interest. Lots of moonlight this evening for sure. Sat out back for a while next to the heater and it was quite nice but I wish I was in the woods where I could have a fire. Maybe in two weeks if the weather is nice.

Not a bad day but a busy one at work. 💼 Getting caught up after vacation. I do like the regular nature of work, the schedule and taking the bus downtown. 🚍 It just gives me a set chance to sit, listen to music 🎶 and blog. 📄

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 39 degrees at 5am. Typical for tonight. Light southeast wind. In 2018, we had light rain in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 36 degrees. The record low of 25 occurred back in 1978.

Maximum dew point of 52 at 6pm. 🏖️ Southeast wind 6 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Later in the evening there could be more severe weather. ☔ A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 56 degrees. The record high of 88 was set in 1947. There was a dusting of snow in 2009.❄

I think tomorrow night will be a wet and wild evening.💦 Might be bad driving conditions tomorrow after dark. I’m not sure if I’m going to the Pine Bush Dinner 🍲 even after I said I was. I have to drive out to my parents house after work and don’t want to be driving in really bad weather. 🚙

In four weeks on November 12 the sun will be setting at 4:36 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 37 minutes and 50 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had mostly cloudy and temperatures between 47 and 29 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 49 and 33 degrees. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 1909.
