May 29, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy, damp and 72 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 66 degrees. Kind of a muggy summer night. The skies will clear tomorrow around 9 am.

It Sasa hot and sometimes rainy and often steamy day. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Some big rain drops from the storms. I did get my wash done but it was hot working in the truck. The fan and the reflective board made working in the truck quite bareable. There was a few projects that didn’t get done while I was at the library but I got a lot done that I had planned to do while I was down there.

With the humidity and general stickiness this evening I decided to get out my trimmer, set the blade to half inch and pretend to be a barber ๐Ÿ’ˆ trimming my hair down. Is it straight? Is it perfect? Probably not but what do I care in the era of social distancing. It’s going to grow back but for now shorter if not a bit more uneven hair is fine and a heck of a lot more comfortable in the heat. If it’s not perfect we’ll, who cares, Zoom meetings are low resolution at any rate. After my hair cut ๐Ÿ’‡ I took a shower ๐Ÿšฟ because I was itchy from all the pieces of hair everywhere. Now I feel a lot cooler and my hats should fit well with less hair. I might touch it up further in the morning.

As I mentioned earlier, today was a busy one. ๐Ÿ‘š I did get down to the laundromat but not to the store ๐Ÿฌ. I’ll have to do that tomorrow. Maybe Aldi in Rensselaer, I like their products and quick in and out which is good during the pandemic. I can always order most other things like personal care products from Walmart online. ๐Ÿ Maybe I can combine that with hiking and bird watching at Schodack Island if I can figure out what to do for lunch. Or maybe kayaking in Schodack Creek and the Hudson River? ๐Ÿšฃ Intriguing possibility.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 64 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 66 at 11pm. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 59 degrees. The record low of 33 occurred back in 1967.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 51% illuminated. At 11 PM, the moon was in the west-southwest (255ยฐ) at an altitude of 34ยฐ from the horizon, some 228,075 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by November 18th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Strawberry ๐Ÿ“ Moon is on Friday, June 5. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 4:49 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:23 am in the east-northeast (59ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 22 seconds. Sunrise is 34 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:05 am with sun in the east-northeast (66ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 22 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers before 10am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 77 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 10th. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6am. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1987.

Definitely sounds like a nice day tomorrow once the rain pushes off and not as hot ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I’m thinking a fairly quiet day tomorrow but my pantry is so bare I need to get shopping soon ๐Ÿ”œ. Been kind of a busy week with camping in the Adirondacks and work picking up lately. Do I’m ready for a break.

I got in the mail the propane tree for the lantern ๐Ÿฎ like we had at Boy Scouts allowing me to mount the lantern right on the tank without having to run a rope to hang the lantern. The reviews were mixed on these and they can be unstable when the tanks are empty but I needed one if I wanted to use the lantern in the screen house ๐ŸŽช or campsites where no trees are nearby for hanging a rope. I got the type with a metal male connector to the tank so hopefully it won’t crack and break off. While I have electric at camp the lantern uses very little propane and works even if I trip on a wire or there is an under voltage condition.

In four weeks on June 26 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:37 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 12 minutes and 55 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had hot, humid, mostly sunny, thunderstorm and temperatures between 87 and 61 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 81 and 59 degrees. The record high of 99 degrees was set back in 1952.

Looking ahead, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 1 week.

Waterfall on the Long Path

May 27, 2020 10 PM Update

Good evening! Partly clear and 78 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 62 degrees. Warm maybe a tad bit muggy but not too bad.

Back home after five nights in the woods ๐Ÿก and really six full days as I was up to camp on Friday before nine and worked from camp and Speculator, the same true today, Wednesday. I wasn’t planning on staying as long as I did but I decided I’d rather ride out the heat wave up north. It’s already cooled off a lot this evening. ๐Ÿ˜ด Tired because I don’t know I don’t sleep as well at camp although I think ultimately it does help restore my sleep. Plus I’ve been staying up too late most nights and the sun is out after 5 something am.

I have most of the gear unpacked from my truck โ›บ and washed up and ready to go to the attic for storage. The screen tent is great during black fly season but it’s so bulky and heavy I doubt I’ll use it except on extended camping trips.

It was a working day ๐Ÿ’ผ so while I did spend some time in the hammock and at the Speculator Beach, ๐ŸŠ and got covered with sand lying there and splashed in the water a bit, most of the day was devoted to sending emails, running reports and phone calls. ๐Ÿ“ž Left Speculator after five, got home around seven. I’m already missing being in the woods but summer ain’t over yet.

As soon as I started driving through Guilderland, ๐Ÿš˜ and all of the suburban sprawl with the yuppie houses, I was reminded this ain’t really my home, just a place to get the mail. โœ‰ I really want to get to Madison County soon ๐Ÿšœ but there aren’t many roadside campsites up there except the camping area that is closed. Not heading out of town this weekend but maybe next. Some point I hope to never come back to Delmar, owning land in a freerer state.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 66 degrees at 4am. 15 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 62 at 9pm. South wind around 9 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 33 occurred back in 1994.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 28% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the west (271ยฐ) at an altitude of 31ยฐ from the horizon, some 232,220 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by November 19th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Strawberry ๐Ÿ“ Moon is on Friday, June 5. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 4:50 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:24 am in the east-northeast (60ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 21 seconds. Sunrise is 38 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:06 am with sun in the east-northeast (67ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 59 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 30 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers after noon. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 81 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 26th. Maximum dew point of 65 at 1pm. South wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 57 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 2016. There was a dusting of snow in 1902.โ„

In four weeks on June 24 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:37 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 14 minutes and 31 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 85 and 56 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 80 and 59 degrees. The record high of 96 degrees was set back in 1943.

Looking ahead, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 4 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 34 weeks.

Reflections

May 27, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? A Beautiful Hump Day, of course. Four weeks to Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ†. Mostly sunny and 77 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. Calm wind. โ˜€ The dew point is 64 degrees.

Final day up in the Adirondacks for a while. ๐Ÿ—ป I’m going to stay up in the Speculator area until five o’clock with my phone and laptop then head home and eventually get unpacked. My clothes are dirty, my coolers are pretty bare and out of ice. While I had to work Memorial Day I managed to get a six day camping trip out of it by working from camp during the pandemic. I’m sure it’s been a lot cooler up here then back home.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 85 degrees at 4pm. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 65 at 9am. South wind 3 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1914.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:56 pm with sun having an altitude of 67.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:46 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (294ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (301ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:29 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 25 seconds with dusk around 9:02 pm, which is 54 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west (260ยฐ) at an altitude of 41ยฐ from the horizon, 232,318 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:47 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 76 degrees. The dew point will be 62 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 6 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 34 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 59 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 22nd. Maximum dew point of 62 at 8pm. Southwest wind around 6 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 33 occurred back in 1994.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 9 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Saturday, showers likely, mainly before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6am. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 61. Maximum dew point of 41 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 73 degrees.

It’s going to be a nice weekend ๐Ÿ˜Ž but I’ll probably stay closer to home this weekend after my fun in the Adirondacks. I’m hoping within a few weeks I’ll be able to go up to the potholers. Piseco Powley Road was starting to be repaired last autumn by the town but repairs were delayed by the pandemic. Nothing like that potholers on a hot sunny day. ๐ŸŠ That said that swimming hole down by House Pond Campsite hits the spot too and you can walk there from that campsite and not have to drive. I’m also hoping soon that Cherry Ridge Camping Area in Madison County reopens so that’s another possibility. And then maybe Mine Kill Pool. I know their is issues with life guards getting Coronavirus from CPR and possibly the bathrooms but the pools are chlorinated and safe themselves. That said, I don’t think they use mouth to mouth breathing anymore but I guess rescues could involve close contact. ๐Ÿš‘

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:42 pm with dusk at 9:18 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 85 and 56 degrees. Just another nice summer day, one of many to come as we all adapt to both the good and bad of the pandemic. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1943.

 Albany

May 26, 2020 Night

Good evening. Clear and 74 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. ๐ŸŒƒ Light south breeze. The dew point is 62 degrees. A beautiful night, after laying in the hammock for a while looking at the stars I decided to start a small campfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ just to sit by and look at while starring up at the skies. I’ve dimmed the lights for the evening, and it’s very starry ๐ŸŒŸ on this final night of camping. Saw one intensely bright shooting star fall from the sky – kind of burned up with a bright flash. Made a wish and looked in disbelief that suddenly its 2020.

Tonight should be a nice night, partly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 61 degrees at 4am. ๐ŸŒƒ 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around July 3rd. Maximum dew point of 62 at 9pm. Doesn’t feel that muggy here. But then again, I’m just hanging out by the fire and it’s a small one. Dry enough I will put it out cold before bed. A lot of dry grass around this campsite even as the green grass grows back up around it. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1969.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 18% illuminated. Nice strong moon shadow tonight too. At 9 PM, the moon was in the west (272ยฐ) at an altitude of 33ยฐ from the horizon, some 234,985 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by November 21st. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Strawberry ๐Ÿ“ Moon is on Friday, June 5. The darkest hour is at 12:56 am, followed by dawn at 4:49 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:24 am in the east-northeast (59ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 25 seconds. Sunrise is 42 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:06 am with sun in the east-northeast (66ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 54 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 36 seconds over last night.

A fairly quiet but busy work day from camp. โ›บ Lots of phone calls ๐Ÿ“ž and emails โœ‰ sent, lots of client business done. Memos written ๐Ÿ“ questions ๐Ÿ™‹ answered. Kind of like working from home only more scenic. Very quiet up here now that the holiday weekend is over, I think I saw maybe three cars all weekend.

Tomorrow after I take down camp I’ll work from the Lake Algonquin Park and Speculator Beach or library if I need more bandwidth then I can do over my phone. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Maybe get a burger ๐Ÿ” or something for lunch and ice cream for the heat ๐Ÿฆ, possibly dip my feet in at the beach and when work is done at five, head home ๐Ÿก. Honestly, I think I’m just as productive remote working from the Adirondacks ๐Ÿ—ป and a whole less stressed. And by the time I get home the heat wave ๐ŸŒŠ should be largely broken.

Had some rain showers today โ˜” and a few claps of thunder โšก but nothing to dramatic. One shower probably could be heard a bit on a client call ๐Ÿ“ž but I’ll chock it up to rain on the roof – of the screen tent. By no means does the tent ๐ŸŽช block all the rain but with the tarp I used to create shade it worked well enough.

Food today ๐Ÿฒ was kind what I had leftover, I packed food and clothes for a maximum of four days and I’m day five of the trip. Lunch was tuna fish salad with breakfast sausage and pasta, while dinner was creamed corn, refried beans, pasta with mayo and cheese along with breakfast sausage. ๐Ÿ‘ A garbage plate, yes but I wanted to eat up what I had before it went bad.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 85 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 65 at 8am. Going to be sticky by the time I awake but this night is real pleasant. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1914.

In four weeks on June 23 the sun will be setting in the northwest (304ยฐ) at 8:42 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 15 minutes and 41 seconds later then tonight. The sun doesn’t set much later then it does now – only a fifteen minute gain. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 84 and 55 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 80 and 59 degrees. The record high of 96 degrees was set back in 1888.

Tonight is the last night camping โ›บ for my Memorial Day Weekend remote working trip, but it has inspired me to do more similar adventures in the future as long as I plan places that have good cell phone reception and sun for the solar panel. Over the past five days I’ve used over 1,000 watt hours of solar power camping, mostly for my laptop and phone charger for work and some camp lighting and starting battery ๐Ÿ”‹ topping but that’s not been a lot quite honestly compared to keeping the laptop charged for work. I’m thinking a possible weekend next in Schoharie County may be next, but that’s a few weeks off and remote work may end sooner than later and it’s back to the old dungeon office ๐Ÿข. And riding the CDTA bus ๐Ÿš to work every day. How novel public transportation seems these days. I do kind of miss the days of yore but I like the wilder side of life too during the pandemic. Maybe if they reopen Cherry Ridge ๐Ÿ’ I can camp and remote work from the wilds of Madison County and do a nice day trip down to Rogers Center on the weekend for bird ๐Ÿฆ watching.

Looking ahead, Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 4 weeks, Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 23 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 23 weeks.

Upper Blenhium Reservior

Wisdom of a quarter mile between campsites

As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to realize that beauty of the state’s policy of keeping dispersed and wilderness campsites at least a 1/4 mile apart.

While that leads to fewer camping opportunities in popular locations, it also means a truer wilderness experience where other campers will not be disturbed by talking, music, chopping wood or other human noise, smoke from other fires or other privacy issues.

Afternoon

I enjoy having my space while camping and having nobody else in sight or sound while in the wilderness.

May 25, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Today is Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ! Next Monday is June ๐Ÿน. Rain showers and 55 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. โ˜” There is a south breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 47 degrees. The skies will clear around 6 pm.

Well, thank you for all those who have served and died for our country. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ While not everything is perfect ๐Ÿ‘Œ in our country and the pandemic is scary, America is largely a free country and a I diverse and wonderful place to live. ๐Ÿ’ฃSoldiers don’t decide on war, they simply implement the wars put down the politicians. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Moved to the new campsite โ›บ and got set up as it started to rain โ˜”. Clocked in and got down to work. Kind of a cloudy and cool day but tomorrow will be hot. I will string a tarp over the screen tent to keep things cool. Hung up the hammock, I’ll probably not use it until the black flies are done for the day.

Memorial Day will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy โ›… , with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. Typical for Memorial Day. Maximum dew point of 55 at 6pm. South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1981.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:56 pm with sun having an altitude of 67.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-2.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:44 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (294ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (301ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:27 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 24 seconds with dusk around 9:00 pm, which is 57 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) at an altitude of 24ยฐ from the horizon, 237,865 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:45 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 67 degrees. The dew point will be 56 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 41 seconds over yesterday.

I may stay up in the Adirondacks until Tuesday or Wednesday. โ˜€ This will avoid some of the heat in Albany and it’s fun working up here. But it all depends on how much sun so I can keep the laptop charged and things moving on.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 57 degrees at 5am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 15th. Maximum dew point of 58 at 2am. South wind 3 to 5 mph. In 2019, we had rain in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It became somewhat humid as the night progressed. It got down to 57 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1972.

Cool next weekend with temperatures running 6 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 68. Maximum dew point of 50 at 6am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Maximum dew point of 37 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 73 degrees.

It’s possible that I go to Schoharie County this weekend. ๐Ÿ’ป I could work from there on next Monday from Duck Pond. Although who knows, it depends a lot on the weather.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Average High is 80 ๐Ÿ– when the sun will be setting at 8:42 pm with dusk at 9:18 pm. On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 80 and 55 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1954.

Waterfall on the Long Path

May 24, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 65 degrees at the Mason Lake. There is a south breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 44 degrees. Definitely a pleasant evening now that the black fly are done for the night. ๐ŸŒƒ

It was a pleasant day hiking along Old Military Road and Jessup River Road. ๐Ÿšถ While I could have certainly driven it I sometimes enjoy walking and carefully observing nature. ๐Ÿธ That said I was disappointed about the number of interesting birds ๐Ÿฆ along the road but there were some scenic views. I’ll post pictures later in the week.

In the afternoon I went down to Speculator and got ice and Apple Juice ๐Ÿ and then paddled a mile or two down the Sacandaga River.๐Ÿšฃ Then I went to Speculator Beach and went for a swim ๐ŸŠ

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 50 degrees at 3am. Typical for tonight. South wind around 6 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1956.

Laying back in the hammock now ๐Ÿ˜ด but I’ll head to bed in my truck bed shortly as I’m a bit tired from all the time in the sun โ˜€ and because I’m planning on getting an early start tomorrow. Just pop tart and coffee โ˜• tomorrow and taking down camp. I’m going to move to the other campsite where I have better reception for my phone and work laptop – and that resets the 3 nights clock ๐Ÿ•’ for camping without a permit.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 5% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the west-northwest (290ยฐ) at an altitude of 14ยฐ from the horizon, some 240,824 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ Pretty little sliver tonight. At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by November 23rd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The moon will set in the northwest (304ยฐ) at 10:30 pm. The Strawberry ๐Ÿ“ Moon is on Friday, June 5. The darkest hour is at 12:55 am, followed by dawn at 4:51 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:25 am in the east-northeast (60ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 24 seconds. Sunrise is 46 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:07 am with sun in the east-northeast (67ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 57 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 43 seconds over last night.

Memorial Day will have a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 71 degrees at 4pm. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 22nd. Maximum dew point of 55 at 5pm. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1981.

At times tomorrow I think it will be quite sunny โ˜€ to help recharge batteries ๐Ÿ”‹ and keep the laptop running. I’ll probably stay at least through Tuesday evening at the new campsite but it depends on how hot it is and how much sun. It might nicer working up here then at home in the heat ๐Ÿ”ฅ but I don’t know that screen tent ๐ŸŽช gets hot in the heat. Plus I only have do much clean clothes and food left. ๐Ÿฒ Remember, my plan originally was to head home on Monday evening.

I’ve started to read a pretty interesting book about welding. ๐Ÿ“™ I actually got it out of the library weeks ago but with due dates extended, I put the book aside and forgot about it. But now that I’m up in the woods for a few more days I’ve had time to read it a bit more.

In four weeks on June 21 the sun will be setting in the northwest (304ยฐ) at 8:42 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 17 minutes and 16 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 78 and 59 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 79 and 58 degrees. The record high of 97 degrees was set back in 1938.

Looking ahead, Strawberry Moon ๐Ÿ“ is in 2 weeks, Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 3 weeks and Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is a month away.
