March 5, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Mostly sunny and 13 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. I don’t know your opinion on this weather, but in my book it’s pretty darn cold for March. Just waiting for God to flip the giant relay switch and with a loud clunk it like the relay in my truck it will be eighty degrees. There are 4 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at Friday around 1 pm. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Seems legit, by then the average high is supposed to be in the forties.

It was a cold start this morning I turned up the heat ๐Ÿ”ฅ before bed last night but with the cold it never caught up. I’m ready for winter to be done so I can shut off the heat and recover the $50-60 in my budget each month. โ˜บPlus I look forward to the fresh air this morning and hearing the birds chirping. ๐Ÿฆ

Today will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a high of 26 degrees at 2pm. 14 degrees below normal. West wind 3 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy. The high last year was 38 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1964. 8.6 inches of snow fell back in 1917.โ„

The sun will set at 5:50 pm with dusk around 6:18 pm, which is one minute and 13 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 25 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 6 mph. It was a nice sunset last night at work but I don’t expect such nice weather for tonight. ๐ŸŒ… Today will have 11 hours and 27 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers before 2am, then a slight chance of snow showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 10 degrees at 5am. 12 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 0 at 6am; West wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. I do not approve. In 2018, we had cloudy in the evening, which became mostly sunny by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 23 degrees. The record low of -21 occurred back in 1948.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of snow showers after 7am. Mostly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 21 degrees at 1pm. 19 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 9 at 1pm; West wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had cloudy. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1974. 10.5 inches of snow fell back in 1887.โ„

Tomorrow is pay day which I’ll leave it to you Google former NYC councilman Dan O’Halloran most famous quote that I have posted in my bedroom. ๐Ÿ’ฐI wish I made sacs of money ๐Ÿ’ต but my budget is always so tight after I invest and save both for retirement and to eventually become a landowner in a freer state then New York. Got to pay the bills in the meantime. I discovered this morning ironing my shirt that the cuffs are getting worn out. More expense, grr. ๐Ÿ‘นI’m going to have to look at look at getting more dress shirts at JC Penny maybe this weekend. I’m annoyed about ordering all those pants ๐Ÿ‘– and the blazer now. I guess it’s only going to be about $50 for two dress shirts but I’m facing a serious fiscal cliff in my budget come late March and early April. Maybe I’ll try to scrimp on groceries next week, only buying the most basic supplies and try to fully use up what I have in the pantry. If I only spend $10-15 on food ๐Ÿฒ next week I can probably make things work.

I anticipate a bit of a financial pinch come April as I have to pay my car insurance, rent, utility bills and taxes all in about a two week expanse. ๐Ÿ’ธIt’s going to be tough with all those bills due at once, especially as I have fairly big tax bills as I don’t make quarterly tax payments. I’m going to have to do that soon though or I risk getting fined for underpayment of taxes. I’ll figure it out, I might have to dip into the rainy day fund or savings to make my bills but I’ll figure it out. Investment gains are good even if it means paying a lot in taxes.

Today in 1970, Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty goes into effect after ratification by 43 nations. ๐Ÿš€In 1933, during the height of the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declares a “bank holiday”, closing all U.S. banks and ๐ŸŽŠ freezing all financial transactions.

Definitely got cold โ„ as the day progressed yesterday although honestly once I got moving on my evening walk, it wasn’t too bad. Sure I’d like it be warmer out so I could get a break on my heating bills but so be it, spring is just around the corner.๐ŸŒฟ

Got out of work around 7:30, bus ๐Ÿš had me home by eight. I’m still really surprised they’re running the articulated bus in the evening. Maybe it’s going back to the depot. Who knows. I had too much for dinner because I was hungry when I got home ๐Ÿก, played on my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ for a bit then went out for my evening ๐ŸŒƒ walk.

Not a half bad walk but kind of chilly and cloudy โ˜. Certainly better evenings for a walk. Farm ๐Ÿšœ down the road definitely was a bit pungent with manure tonight ๐Ÿฎ, they must be spreading it now after they got done with the spoiled silage. No deer out in the field tonight, I think the snow is too deep for them to graze plus it was pretty cold out.

Continuing to research hand drills for drilling holes in boards for building LED signs. I wanted to just get a basic one ๐Ÿ”จ at Lowe’s the other day but they didn’t have one. I thought ๐Ÿ’ญ about trying Delmar hardware. Maybe thats my best bet, I feel like they would have one probably cost competitive to what I’d find online. I don’t want an electric drill so I can work late at night without disturbing the neighbors.

I got the two ACS 712 amperage metering boards I ordered from AliExpress. โœ‰ Terminals on the board are a bit tiny in my opinion for wires designed to carry up to 30 amp but they may work okay for monitoring the output of the solar panel and other loads in the truck cap. I’m just a little bit concerned about voltage โšก drop. I’ll have to experiment more.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Sunday, rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Typical average high for the weekend is 41 degrees. I’m trying to save money so I’ll probably stay home on Saturday but I might walk ๐Ÿšถ to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. I probably should figure out some time to continue working on that history project I’m working on, and some time to work m some of the various electronics projects, โŒš to say nothing of riding the exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ more.

I know it’s still early March but I’m definitely ready for camping โ›บ season to get underway but everywhere still there is a ton of snow. I certainly don’t expect the Adirondacks to be completely snow free until late April or even early May. ๐ŸŒธ Maybe a bit sooner in lower elevations but most places where I like to camp have snow much longer than Albany. Hopefully by then I’ll be over the financial cliff but if not, I guess the bills won’t come due until a few paychecks later on the credit card. ๐Ÿ’ณ

In four weeks on April 2 the sun will be setting at 7:22 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 32 minutes and 34 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had partly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 47 and 28 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 52 and 32 degrees. The record high of 77 degrees was set back in 2010. So who knows what the weather will be like for the second day of trout season. ๐Ÿ

Looking ahead, Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  is in 2 months, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 3 months, Dog Days of Summer ๐ŸŒป is in 4 months, Last Sunset After 8:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 19 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 87 weeks.

Pitch Pine

January 15, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy National Bird Day ๐Ÿฆ! Birds the word. Although some say Bird Day was January 5th? Gosh who knows, so many special holiday.ย Two weeks to my 36th Birthday ๐ŸŽ‰. Happy birthday to me! Ain’t I special or at least old. More and more gray, every day. No I don’t use coloring. Yeah, I still wear my cowboy hat and enjoy the wilderness and burning things as much as ever.

Cloudy with snow flurries, the air smells like wood chips and barnyard, they’re spreading down the road and 17 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 11 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ It’s nice living close enough to the city to catch the bus to work but also only be a traffic light or two from the open countryside.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 31 degrees at 2pm. One degree above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around January 23rd. West wind 3 to 6 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny in the morning, which became cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 21 degrees. The record high of 65 was set in 1995. 13.4 inches of snow fell back in 1983.โ„ Right before I was born.

The sun will set at 4:47 pm with dusk around 5:18 pm, which is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly sunny skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 31 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 38 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 22 degrees at 3am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around March 4th. Maximum wind chill around 24 at 6pm; Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph after midnight. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 14 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1971.

Yesterday was an ungodly long day at work so early in January, ๐Ÿ’ผ but sometimes that happens. I’m still making money and earning comp time, so maybe I can take off some time in February or April for either some ice fishing and camping or a road trip. ๐ŸŽฃย Being busy in the winter isn’t that bad of thing, and the bus got me home last night despite being rather tired.

By the time I got home last night cooked up some dinner and retired to bed. ๐Ÿ’คAt least the week is going by quickly. Or so I hope. Pine Bush dinner tomorrow, Thursday is the lecture at the Discovery Center on climate change that I got tickets for but might not be able to attend if the weather is bad. They’re talking snow starting tomorrow night. I burned the Xubuntu installer to a flash drive and I’m thinking it won’t be until the weekend until I have time to upgrade my laptop to the SSD. ๐Ÿ’พย I do think I will also buy the board to fix my broken headphone jack and probably also replace the DVD drive with the the old hard drive to expand my storage to 2 TB so I have enough room with all the video I’ve been producing lately for the blog. ๐Ÿ“น

My post about pigs last night got a lot of discussion,ย ๐Ÿ–ย but I’ve always had a lot of interest in agriculture. I’m not interested in getting tied down to the land right now, but eventually, when I have saved more money, gotten closer to retirement and can move to a place closer to my views in an off-grid cabin, producing some of my own food on the land, and making them most of that is important to me.ย But for now I’ll continue to travel, spend my weekends in the wildernessย and continue to being a professional that works in the big city.ย ๐ŸŒ†

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until 36th Birthday ๐ŸŽ‰ when the sun will be setting at 5:05 pm with dusk at 5:35 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 39 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 54 back in 2002.

 Shadow

January 8, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Next Tuesday is National Bird Day 🐦. Cloudy at the freezing point in Delmar. โ˜ Breezy, ๏ธ16 mph breeze from the south 🌬 with gusts up to 28 mph 💨💨💨. The current wind chill is 21. Sidewalks and the grass have a glaze of ice on them but it’s not terribly slippery in Delmar. The skies will clear Friday around 2 am. Then it will get really cold, well relatively speaking. Fortunately though the heat in my apartment has been turned back on. The burner control switch was accidentally shut off when they were servicing another units boiler.

Today will have a chance of freezing rain before 9am, then rain showers likely. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 39 degrees at 1pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around March 1st. South wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. A year ago, we had cloudy in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 27 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 2008. 8.3 inches of snow fell back in 1923.โ„

The sun will set at 4:39 pm with dusk around 5:11 pm, which is one minute and 3 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 39 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 15 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain before 1am, then rain and snow. 🌧 Low of 34 degrees at 6am. 19 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around April 6th. South wind 8 to 10 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2018, we had cloudy in the evening, which became mostly sunny by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 24 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1968.

Tomorrow is the first day of the year session, 👔so I’ll have to dust off my politician suit. I actually need to buy another ironing board cover as the old one got mildewy and tossed into a fire at some point along the way. Mom was saying they sell them at Walmart. I have to stop and buy some file folders too before I head over to John Wolcott’s house to continue sorting his archives as part of a local history project that Save the Pine Bush is doing.📂 At some point they will end up in a local historical library and contain probably one of Albany’s richest collections of history.

Last night I got my flu shot, 💉 and then went to the public hearing of the Guilderland Industrial Development Agency where they proposed giving a generous sales and mortgage tax exemption💰 to Crossgates Maul to build apartments in the Pine Bush across from preserve lands on a parcel that connects habitat for the Karner Blue. 🐥 Stupid proposal but Crossgates is failing as people don’t shop at mauls anymore and they’re trying to be part of the overbuilding of apartments in Guilderland 🏢 which will certainly crash in price in the coming years. Make money now and leave others holding the bag I guess is the thing now.

Still really busy with the report I’m working on with work, 📝but hopefully that will wrap up soon and there won’t be too many late nights later this week. I just want things to go smoothly as we head to the weekend. Going to be cold and maybe snowy this weekend but with family obligations and other necessary things I expect another busy weekend. The good news is it’s making January pass by quickly. 🌀

As previously noted, next Tuesday is National Bird Day 🐦 when the sun will be setting at 4:47 pm with dusk at 5:18 pm. On that day in 2018, we had cold, partly cloudy and temperatures between 21 and 5 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 65 back in 1995.

Warmth

January 1, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy New Years Day 2019 🎉 ! I was in bed by nine and woke pretty early but I’ve yet to get out of bed. Not a really nice day to start out 2019. Two weeks to National Bird Day 🐦. Bird is the word.

A new year is upon us. I don’t expect any big changes to things, 📈 just incremental improvements and minor changes to my life. I’ll continue to travel and explore but I don’t expect anything grand or great to be ahead. I’m fine with the current trends as they are, they certainly are predictable.

Rain showers, blustery and 50 degrees in Delmar. โ˜” Warm start to the year. Breezy, ๏ธ18 mph breeze from the west-southwest 🌬 with gusts up to 31 mph 💨💨💨. Definitely can hear the wind roaring around. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 7 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ With the rain tapering off and the wind hopefully things won’t ice up too much.

New Year’s Day 2019 will have a slight chance of showers before 9am. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 36 by 5pm. โ›…Windy, with a northwest wind 18 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had sunny skies. The high last year was 11 degrees. The record high of 57 was set in 1966. 9.2 inches of snow fell back in 1961.โ„

The sun will set at 4:33 pm with dusk around 5:04 pm, which is 52 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies 🌃 and temperatures around 38 degrees. Breezy, 20 mph breeze โ›… from the west-northwest with gusts up to 34mph. Today will have 9 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 18 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around February 17th. Northwest wind 8 to 15 mph. In 2018, we had clear skies. It got down to -4 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1970.

I’m feeling a bit congested this morning although not really sick. 🐶 I have some decongestant that works well and after I take a shower I’m sure I’ll be feeling better. Already after some coffee I’m feeling better.

Today I have to go to the store, pick up some groceries for the rest of the week and then wash my truck again. So muddy and salty. I probably should also return some beer cans from both December trips too. I get tired of returning beer cans โ™ป and they don’t burn so I just have stopped drinking except a little while camping. That and I’m always broke.

I might also go for a short walk before heading out to my parents house, 🏃 if the weather is a bit sunnier and not super cold from the wind. A lot depends on the weather, I had enough time freezing my ass off in the wilderness of Madison County.

I left my laptop charger at my parents house, so I couldn’t work on my various projects last night 🔌 but that’s fine I was tired. I also accidentally cracked the 12 volt plug on my charger I use with my truck – it’s a simple boost converter so it uses less power than the AC charger when running in my truck. I might replace the plug or I might hardwire it on my truck, although if I do that I’ll add a switch so it’s not wasting power when my laptop is unplugged. I doubt a simple boost converter uses much power without a load, but I’m sure it still uses a few milliamps of power.

I wasn’t going to buy anything else from AliExpress but I ended up deciding to buy a waterproof temperature sensor for $1.45 that I will stick out my window when heating season is done to measure the temperature and display the outside temperature on my display. โœจ I think I can squeeze it under the window sill when it’s closed in the summer but I don’t want to waste heat in the winter by having the window open a crack.

I went to bed early last night as I was tired. 🎉 I don’t see any reason to stay up to midnight especially not owning a television or having anything to watch at midnight. It was pouring rain so I certainly wasn’t going out anywhere. I did get everything out of my truck and washed up by yesterday although I’m still waiting on my water jugs thawed out. Seemed like the weekend in the wilderness went by too quickly but maybe that’s because I stayed in camp all day long on Sunday.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until National Bird Day 🐦 when the sun will be setting at 4:47 pm with dusk at 5:18 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 21 and 5 degrees. Last year was ducking cold. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 65 back in 1995.

 North From Observation Desk

December 4, 2018 Evening

Good evening! Four weeks from now will be the New Year. Mostly clear at the freezing point in Delmar. There is a northwest breeze at 13 mph. 🍃. Cold day tomorrow, things will only start to thaw out at tomorrow around 1 pm. 🌡๏ธ I guess it was cold tonight but then again the bus was early and I barely caught it. 🚌

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 17 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around December 27th. I guess late December isn’t that far away. Maximum wind chill around 20 at 12am; Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light in the evening. In 2017, we had mist in the evening, remaining overcast into the early morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1989. I did turn the heat up a bit when I got home.

Tonight will have a Waning Crescent Moon 🌘 with 5% illuminated. The moon will rise at 5:10 am. The New Moon is on Thursday night with mostly cloudy skies. The Cold Moon 🌝 is on Friday, December 21st. The sun will rise at 7:09 am with the first light at 6:37 am, which is one minute later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 48 minutes of darkness, an increase of one minute and 9 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a high of 33 degrees at 2pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 23rd. Although it seems like lately it’s been warmer around Christmas. Calm wind. A year ago, we had freezing fog in the morning, which became mist by afternoon. The high last year was 53 degrees. The record high of 65 was set in 2001. 9 inches of snow fell back in 1902.โ„

Remarkably pleasant morning for walking down to the express bus. Crisp but with proper dress it’s quite delightful with all that sun. 🌄Good thing I walked down to the Park and Ride as not only was it a nice walk I was the only one who boarded the 8:26 to downtown. Earlier buses are much more popular. 🚌

Lunchtime I walked on the plaza 🏃which was nice but cold. But I like the fresh air and the blue skies for a change, it gets tiresome looking at the same things over and over again doing laps inside the Empire State Plaza. I guess if I really wanted to get my heart pumping I’d climb the million dollar staircase in the Capital. It won’t be long before doing lapse in the concourse becomes difficult, with State of the State protestors.โœŠ

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 7 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜€ Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 30. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Typical average high for the weekend is 38 degrees. Then quite possibly a warming trend for the next week with lots of sun.

It looks like most of next week should be sunny and relatively nice out in the Finger Lakes. Seasonal temperatures which means cold but snow free and they don’t have a lot of snow out there. 🌞 I am off next week to finally do my November camping trip. โ›บ Granted it’s now December but the weather looks nice. Maybe 10 degrees colder, 10 minutes earlier sunset but either side of the deer regular hunting season is about the same.

In four weeks on January 1 the sun will be setting at 4:33 pm,🌄 which is 10 minutes and 51 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had rain, snow, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 38 and 20 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 31 and 16 degrees. The record high of 57 degrees was set back in 1966.

Looking ahead, Christmas Eve 🎅 is in 3 weeks, Christmas 🎅 is in 3 weeks, New Years Day 2019 🎉 is in 4 weeks, National Bird Day 🐦 is in 6 weeks, 36th Birthday 🎉 is in 8 weeks, 5:30 PM Sunset 🌆 is in 11 weeks, Average High is 40 โ˜€๏ธ is in 3 months, 8 PM Sunset 🌇 is in 5 months, Independence Day 🇺🇸 is in 7 months, Last Sunset After 8:30 PM 🌆 is in 32 weeks and Election Day 2020 🗳๏ธ is in 100 weeks.

November 27, 2018 10 PM Update

Tomorrow Big Red gets his state inspection while I’m at work. I’m hopeful it will go well, but you never know. If something needs to get fixed it will get fixed. 🚗 I don’t have any bulbs out and everything seems fine but you never know.

As you can see, I finish my Bluetooth controlled light over my bed. It’s plenty bright with the thicker wire if I turn it up all the way. :idea:Everything works perfectly. My next step is to write a custom Android app to use with it. I have the Android Studio and a template app but I apparently have to update something where I have internet access to actually load the app in the IDE. I also have to upgrade the other lamp driver I built last winter to the esp32 chip so it has Bluetooth and they can talk. Winter project. I like coding and working with the soldering iron, especially now that I’m getting better at soldering and laying out components.

Thursday is the bright and early day 😁 with my 7:55 am dentist appointment. I should have nice clean teeth after that. I was surprised that the dentist didn’t send me a text reminder but I confirmed it on my phone.

They still haven’t fixed the 277 volt feed in my office so there are no overhead lights which makes the afternoons and evenings very dark ๐Ÿ’กeven with the desk lamp. I’m sure it will get fixed soon.

I tried to catch the express bus down at the concourse but it had already left by the time I got there. 🚌 Then I ran back to Eagle and State but the bus didn’t stop and ended up catching it at the comptroller’s building. Annoying but now I know with the slow elevators it’s not worthwhile to try to get the bus anywhere but South Swan. Too dark and dangerous to walk down to the old railroad station to catch the bus this time of year. 🌌

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, a chance of rain after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday, rain likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 47. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Typical average high for the weekend is 41 degrees. Warmer but not a banner weekend.

In four weeks on December 25 the sun will be setting at 4:27 pm,🌄 which is 3 minutes and 19 seconds later then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had snow, heavy fog, freezing fog, mist, squalls, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 33 and 17 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 33 and 18 degrees. The record high of 66 degrees was set back in 1889.

Looking ahead, Christmas 🎅 is in 4 weeks, New Years Day 2019 🎉 is in 5 weeks, National Bird Day 🐦 is in 7 weeks, 36th Birthday 🎂 is in 9 weeks, Arbor Day 🌳 is in 5 months, Memorial Day 🇺🇸 is in 6 months, Last Sunset After 8:30 PM 🌆 is in 33 weeks and Election Day 2020 🗳๏ธ is in 101 weeks.

Red Sky in Morning

November 4, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Daylight Savings Time Came to An End ๐Ÿ•’. I hope you remembered to set your clock back an hour, otherwise your quite early to church โ›ช and everything else you do on Sunday. There was a ton of people out hiking at the Green Lakes Bird Sanctuary by the time I left. Next Sunday is Veterans Day (Sunday) ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ. Partly cloudy and 44 degrees in Fayetteville. โ›… Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing next Saturday around 10 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž , with a high of 48 degrees at 1pm. At least maybe later, assuming there is such a thing of sunshine. I saw sun for two minutes this morning, and then it got dark. While maybe sunny, a bit cool, roughly four degrees below normal. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 76 was set in 1994. There was a dusting of snow in 2006.โ„ I left the batteries connected today, so I can top off my starting battery, assuming we get sun later on.๐Ÿ”‹

The sun will set at 4:51 pm with dusk around 5:21 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies โ›… and 46 degrees. There will be a east breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 8 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over yesterday. Those nights are getting long in Trump’s America. Just like his presidency, especially as the mid-terms get underway come Tuesday. It looks like the Democrats will take the house, putting a brake on his administration, although the Senate will be in Republican hands. Although I guess it depends on who votes after all.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy โ˜, with a low of 39 degrees at 12am. Four degrees above normal. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph. In 2017, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 38 degrees. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1951.

Nice morning for a hike at Green Lakes State Park. ๐Ÿ‚Leaves are all gone or faded at this point, with some exceptions but so be it. I just wish there was more sun, but that’s pretty rare this year. Definitely into the November part of the year now.

There are 2 days, 8 hours and 14 minutes until the poll close on Election Day in New York. ๐Ÿ—ณ It’s almost over. I’ve been thinking more about my trip, debating if I should leave on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. A lot depends on the weather, although leaving Thursday wouldn’t give a lot of time to get back, by the time I get home on Wednesday evening. ๐Ÿก I also have to take off the second half of next week, but i am not concerned about getting that off.

The long-range forecast for next week, looks pretty good but the weekend into next Monday might be questionable. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Ideally I would like two nights at Stoney Pond State Forest, so I have time to visit Chittenango Falls one day — then I want a very nice and sunny day for visiting Chimney Bluffs State Park โ›ฐ and Montezumaย ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ•Š before heading down to the Finger Lakes National Forest. Should be great for camping, assuming it’s not too wet and rainy. ๐Ÿ•

As previously noted, next Sunday is Veterans Day (Sunday) ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:43 pm with dusk at 5:13 pm. On that day in 2017, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 33 and 18 degrees.ย ๐ŸŒžย  Typically, the high temperature is 50 degrees. We hit a record high of 70 back in 2002.
