April 18, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly and 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 49 degrees. The skies will clear Monday around noontime. Forget about nice weather this Easter weekend but next weekend in the extended outlook appears quite nice.

After the long week at work I got home ๐Ÿก and had a quick dinner of burritos and peas. Hopped on the excerise bike ๐Ÿšฒ caught up on the off grid and agriculture videos I had downloaded and then played around with QGIS for a while making up some maps.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 52 degrees at 10pm. 13 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around May 30th. Maximum dew point of 52 at 6am. South wind around 9 mph. If it wasn’t so damp, I’d probably leave my windows open tonight. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had partly cloudy in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1875.

Tonight is April’s Pink Moon ๐ŸŒ• which is only pink if the skies are clear and you wear rose ๐ŸŒน colored glasses. The sun will rise at 6:08 am with the first light at 5:38 am, which is one minute and 35 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 10 hours and 25 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 42 seconds over last night.

I was going to go for my evening walk but decided against it based on the radar. ๐Ÿšถ Turns out we didn’t get any rain but I guess that’s fine as I was busy working on a GIS project.

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers, mainly after 3pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 71 degrees at 2pm. 11 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around May 20th. Maximum dew point of 58 at 6pm. South wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1976. 8.8 inches of snow fell back in 1983.โ„

Still thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ about taking a hike around town tomorrow and then down to the library to use the WIFI and maybe get some books ๐Ÿ“š out. At some point I’ll need to get groceries, maybe Saturday evening.

All Easter Weekend will be cold and wet. ๐Ÿ˜ž Saturday, showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 68. South wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 61 at 7am. Sunday, a chance of showers, mainly after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 50 at 7am. Other forecasts are a bit more optimistic for Easter Sunday. Typical average high for the weekend is 61 degrees. Certainly not a great weather forecast for the long weekend.

Looking ahead, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 4 weeks, Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• is a month away, Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 9 weeks, Independence Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 11 weeks, August ๐ŸŒป is in 15 weeks and Last Sunset After 7 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 24 weeks.

Pond Along Garnet Lake Road

April 17, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒƒ Calm wind. Being such a relatively nice night, I’m sitting out back in the moonlight, listening to the spring peepers ๐Ÿธ which seem quieter tonight compared to some nights. Air kind of smells faintly like barnyard, it’s spring so the farm down the road must be spreading manure or at least working the dirt in the fields.

Today was another busy but good day at work. ๐Ÿ’ผ Definitely less crazy than yesterday. I’m glad I have Good Friday off as lately I’ve been tired as my sleep has been pretty poor. ๐Ÿ˜ด I was hoping getting to bed early would help but I still find myself waking up a lot at night. I just find myself increasingly discontent and worried about both my future and that of the world. ๐ŸŒŽ I’m trying to do more and more everyday though to improve my own life even if I can’t fix the many problems of the world I see around me.

The Save the Pine Bush Dinner was pretty good, listening to Lou Ismay give what may be his last presentation to Save the Pine Bush was interesting. ๐ŸŽค He’s gotten older for sure but he did much for the environment and the Albany community over his many years running the SUNY PYE Club. Lasagna was fairly good although this month I didn’t get to take any home. No delicious smelling lunch at work although I usually do end up cooking something good most days.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 3am. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 44 degrees at 5am. Six degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around May 4th. A fairly mild night. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1948.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ” with 99% illuminated. The moon will set at 6:05 am. The Pink Moon ๐ŸŒ• will be tomorrow. I hope you have your rose colored glasses to wear. ๐Ÿ‘“ The sun will rise at 6:09 am with the first light at 5:40 am, which is one minute and 36 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 10 hours and 28 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 43 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers, mainly before 8am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 58 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 15th. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. That wind will make it feel much colder. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1976. 2.7 inches of snow fell back in 1887.โ„

Not a particularly nice weekend on tap for Easter. ๐Ÿ˜ž Saturday, rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then showers likely after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 67. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6am. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 48 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 61 degrees.

I haven’t packed my camping gear yet โ›บ so I have no real plans for the weekend except maybe Easter dinner at the folks house. ๐Ÿฐ In two weeks though I really hope to be out camping again. The weather has moderated a lot, the snow is almost entirely gone from the East Branch area, and now it’s just a matter of waiting for some sunny days.

In four weeks on May 15 the sun will be setting at 8:11 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 8 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 77 and 56 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 69 and 47 degrees. The record high of 93 degrees was set back in 1900.

Looking ahead, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 2 weeks, Pack Rat Day ๐Ÿ€ is a month away, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 7 weeks, Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 10 weeks, Altamont Fair Opens ๐ŸŽก is in 17 weeks, State Fair Opens ๐ŸŽก is in 18 weeks, September 11th ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 21 weeks, Constitution Day ๐Ÿ“œ is in 5 months, More Night then Day ๐ŸŒŒ is in 23 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 92 weeks.

Across Crane Pond to Crane Pond Hill

April 16, 2019 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a west-northwest breeze at 15 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. I sat out back for a while after my evening walk but it’s quite cool with the breeze, so I decided to head inside, take out my contacts and retire to bed.

It was kind of a crazy ๐Ÿ˜œ at times day at work. Not bad but it made the time go by relatively quickly. I decided to walk down after work and catch the bus down by the old Union Station ๐Ÿš‰ right before the bus gets on the expressway. Looked like bad congestion heading north out of the city but not so much heading south.

I got home, cooked up some burgers ๐Ÿ” and laid back for a while. I listened to a podcast for a while. Eventually I went for my evening walk.

Playing with the overhead truck cap lights that are now based on the newer 2835 chip, they are probably twice as bright ๐Ÿ”† while consuming half the power as before. Nice starry night but cold with the breeze for sure. ๐ŸŒŸ I enjoyed my evening walk which I did earlier then normal as I am tired.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 34 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around April 7th. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph. In 2018, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1971.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ” with 97% illuminated. The moon will set at 5:34 am. The ๐ŸŒ• is on Thursday night with a mostly clear then chance of showers skies. The sun will rise at 6:11 am with the first light at 5:41 am, which is one minute and 36 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 10 hours and 30 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 62 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 23rd. North wind 3 to 5 mph. That’s a nice change from the frigid weather it recent. A year ago, we had rain in the morning, which became cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 2002. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1965.โ„

The forecast continues to call for mild but rainy weather for the Easter Weekend. ๐Ÿ˜ž Saturday, rain likely before 2pm, then showers likely after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6am. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 46 at 7am. Typical average high for the weekend is 61 degrees.

While I have no outdoor plans for the weekend ๐Ÿ’ฆ I do think that I’ll start packing up my truck for camping season โ›บ this weekend. The weather looks pretty good in the long range so the plan would be to camp and fish next weekend in the Adirondacks. Not the latest I’ve gotten out camping for the year but relatively late. A lot had to do with the relatively cold April and the lateness of Easter ๐Ÿฐ this year. Last year in contrast I was busy with volunteering with Aidan O’Connor’s special election so I didn’t get up north until the first week of May. It’s unfortunate that he couldn’t pull it off in 2018, but it’s a pretty conservative district.

In four weeks on May 14 the sun will be setting at 8:10 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 13 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 77 and 54 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 69 and 46 degrees. The record high of 93 degrees was set back in 1900.

I am not totally sure about giving up owning a car in a few years ๐Ÿš™ but I’m still thinking about the numbers over going car less for a few year some point in the future. Maybe a $100,000 savings over a decade by not owning a car is an over estimate, but motoring is so expensive and most of the time my truck is parked. ๐Ÿ…ฟ I just prefer to walk or use transit around town. On the other hand I sure enjoy camping in the wilderness. So I don’t know. It’s one option, especially with the ease of ride sharing, bicycles ๐Ÿšฒ and public transport. ๐Ÿš I still eventually want to own land out in the country and that will involve motoring but not in New York State so it’s sometime off in the future. Been great in the markets lately and I think I have a good plan but I also realize downs are coming at some point in the market. But I’m ready to ride the bear market too.

Looking ahead, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is a month away, Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 2 months, Last Sunset After 8:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 3 months, Constitution Day ๐Ÿ“œ is in 22 weeks, October ๐Ÿ›ฅ is in 24 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 81 weeks.

Powerline to West

April 15, 2019 Night

Good evening! I hope you survived this most taxing of days. I certainly did, but it was as awful as I thought. Partly clear, a blustery 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Stiff breeze at 30 mph the west-northwest ๐Ÿ’จ with gusts up to 52 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. Wind at times is really roaring around tonight. The skies will clear tomorrow around noontime.

I survived another three-years worth of defensive driving class.๐Ÿ˜ณ It was as awful as usual, nothing has really changed, but I guess it’s good to freshen up on things. I doubt the class really makes people much safer drivers, but acts a selection mechanism for the safest drivers on block.๐Ÿš™ I almost didn’t take it when I heard they raised the rate for the class to $25 from $10 three years ago, but that 10% discount on insurance over three years adds up. Taxes and fines are high in New York, so don’t speed, don’t drink and drive, don’t touch your phone while driving.

I do use my cruise control a lot more these days, and keep my speed down on on the highways. Driving without speeding is a lot less stressful and saves gas. I do sometimes suffer from road rage when I see a cop, doing something I don’t think is fair, but the best thing is to just keep driving in a mostly law-abiding fashion and ignore it. ๐Ÿ‘Š I really shouldn’t take calls while driving, even with the hands free, but at least now with the latest version of Waze I don’t have to touch the phone to run most commands like report a police trap — and anything that is more then simple to do — I just pull off at the next safe spot.

I’ve never texted anyone while driving, but I do read text messages and email headers when they pop up on my phone in the hands-holder,๐Ÿ“ฑ in big text, which is near my line of sight. If I need to respond, I will pull over where lawful, or call back on the hands-free phone. I’m much more careful with the CB radio, which to operate it, being mounted as low as it is, can be difficult to operate.

After the 6-hour class, I decided to go into work for the final two hours of the day. ๐Ÿ“As I have an hour paid lunch, I only ended up having to use 5-hours of personal time, and honestly I don’t have that much personal time, and I’ve earned a lot of comp time over the past few months. ๐Ÿ’ผ Work was a bit of clusterduck when I got there, I kind of picked a busy day to be out. But things that got done happened, and life moves on. Probably good that I decided to go to the office for a few hours this afternoon. I’m still thinking about taking a day or two off next week.

Wireless headphones weren’t working on my phone ๐Ÿ”‡ today which made for a long bus ride home. ๐ŸŽง I think I just needed to update the software on my phone. ๐Ÿ“ฑ Now they work perfectly after I updated the firmware.

I was pretty tired after all that happened today, as that defensive driver class is pretty intense while also being superboring, as the videos haven’t changed in 30 years. I did walk down to the library for a while, ๐Ÿ“šand worked on some stuff down there for a while. Mostly just a lot of catching up, some fixing a nasty little bug I discovered in my blog. At least the rain is gone for now, but it’s cooled down a lot. I’m going to turn off the lights and head to bed in a bit. ๐Ÿ˜ด

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 35 degrees at 6am. Three degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around April 10th. Windy, with a northwest wind 22 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had light rain in the evening, which became rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of 22 occurred back in 1981.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ” with 92% illuminated. The moon will set at 5:01 am. The ๐ŸŒ• is on Thursday night with a slight chance of showers then chance of showers. The sun will rise at 6:12 am with the first light at 5:43 am, which is one minute and 37 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 10 hours and 33 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over last night.

Much nicer weather tomorrow. It will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 59 degrees at 3pm. Typical for mid April. Breezy, with a northwest wind 20 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy in the morning, which became light drizzle by afternoon. The high last year was 49 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 2012. 5.3 inches of snow fell back in 1983.โ„

I’m hoping for a better day tomorrow. I’ll be getting paid tomorrow which is good, ๐Ÿ’ธalthough much of those funds have already been allocated for various purposes. But I should have enough money to do an end of the month road trip, although I’m thinking it may be just to the East Branch through I’m considering still going up to the Adirondacks North Country.

Easter weekend continues to look wet and cloudy. ๐Ÿ˜ž Saturday, rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 57 at 6am. Sunday, a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 46 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 61 degrees.

This next weekend I’m going to most likely stick around town although if I get a nice day I might go down to the Catskills and hike up Platte Clove Road. ๐Ÿšถ Or maybe do some fishing on the Eight Mile Creek. ๐ŸŽฃ I’m not sure, it all depends on the weather. I also have projects that I can work on at home. Obviously staying home is the cheapest option but it might be fun to get out of town.

The weekend after next I’m definitely looking to get out of town. By then it looks like the weather will moderate and it could be quite sunny and warm. โ˜€ I would camp, โ›บ fishing ๐ŸŽฃ, and maybe some hiking. ๐Ÿšถ It should be a great weekend to kick off the 2019 camping season. Probably take off Friday of that week and maybe also Thursday. I’m not going to take any time off though although until it gets closer and the forecast is more certain but the 8-14 day outlook looks good for now.

In four weeks on May 13 the sun will be setting at 8:09 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 19 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 68 and 48 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 69 and 46 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 2004.

Looking ahead, Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ is in 1 week, Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 6 weeks, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 10 weeks, July ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฟ is in 11 weeks, Cow Appreciation Day ๐Ÿ‚ is in 3 months, Last Sunset After 8 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 17 weeks, Labor Day ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ is in 20 weeks and Columbus Day ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ is in 25 weeks.

Pattern

April 14, 2019 Night

Good evening! Modestly heavy rain and 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a east-northeast breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 48 degrees. Evidently, I’m not going for my evening walk tonight. I did however ride the excerise bike for about an hour watching videos from Keith Fink’s Farm YouTube channel and one from Computerfile. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 pm.

I have to admit I’ve kind of gotten to like watching YouTube videos I’ve downloaded for watching at home. That youtube-dl script is pretty awesome for that. ๐Ÿ“น While I don’t watch commercials television or professionally produced shows I do like watching videos and hunting, trapping and fishing, farming and off-grid living. And sometimes camping. It makes time riding on the excerise bike ๐Ÿšฒ go by quickly. While in many ways I prefer podcasts, videos can sometimes take you places where you can’t go just by audio. Plus the kind of videos I watch on my excerise bike aren’t the rot your brain like on commercial television. Sure, probably watching a farmer birth calves or seed ๐ŸŒฑ oats isn’t intectually stimulating but it’s fascinating.

Today was another automobile free day for me. ๐Ÿš˜ I walked out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center and then took the bus ๐Ÿš and walked over to John Wolcott’s house. ๐Ÿ“‚ I didn’t find a lot of interesting files over the four and half hours of study and sorting this time but you never know what you are going to find. I prefer walking ๐Ÿšถ and transit when I’m in town not only to save money ๐Ÿ’ต but because you see and experience more on foot.

Tonight will have showers, with thunderstorms also possible after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 55 degrees at 9pm. 16 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around June 2nd. Now if it wasn’t raining it would be a really nice evening. Warming through the night. Maximum dew point of 55 at 1am. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ East wind 9 to 14 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2018, we had cloudy in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1940.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ” with 85% illuminated. The moon will set at 4:26 am. The Pink Moon ๐ŸŒ• is on Thursday night with a mostly cloudy skies then chance of showers. The sun will rise at 6:14 am with the first light at 5:45 am, which is one minute and 38 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 10 hours and 36 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers, mainly before 8am. Temperature rising to near 60 by 10am, then falling to around 47 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a southwest wind 7 to 12 mph becoming west 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy in the morning, which became rain by afternoon. The high last year was 36 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2003. 2.4 inches of snow fell back in 2014.โ„

I am not looking forward to defensive driving tomorrow because I generally think motoring ๐Ÿ is an unpleasant experience but it’s good to learn about the latest laws and safety techniques. So many of the safety videos are boring or obnoxious. Lots of time though to doodle and daydream a bit. But I like saving 10% on my car insurance.

I’m going to research other insurance companies and plans though and possibly look at a more affordable plan before my insurance expires at the end of the month of September. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ It’s important to have good coverage but I’m not sure if my plan – which is the same as my parents have had for decades with minor changes still makes sense for me. $920 a year for insurance when my truck is no longer new, I don’t drive daily and I’ve never gotten a ticket ๐ŸŽซ or chargeable accident seems excessive. I might look at reducing my liability insurance and under insured motorists a bit – I would hate to be sued in court beyond what my insurance will cover in a severe crash but I realize such a crash caused by me is fairly unlikely because I primarily drive on rural roads and not in congested areas.

The long range doesn’t look that great for Easter weekend. Major bummer! ๐Ÿ˜ž No camping Easter Weekend ๐Ÿฐ I guess. Next Saturday, showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 55 at 6am. Next Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 61 degrees.

I am most likely looking at camping โ›บ in two weeks possibly taking off the Thursday and Friday of that week. I’ll miss the Save the Pine Bush Hike but I’d rather spend more time up in the wilderness as it’s been a long time since I’ve spent time overnight in the woods. ๐Ÿ”ฅ A nice campfire, and waking up to a sunrise in the wilderness would be wonderful.

In four weeks on May 12 the sun will be setting at 8:07 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 23 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 50 and 48 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 68 and 46 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 1881.

Looking ahead, Easter ๐Ÿฐ is in 1 week, Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  is in 3 weeks, Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ is in 4 weeks, Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 9 weeks, National Nude Day ๐Ÿ‘ฑ is in 3 months (black flies will be gone by then), Altamont Fair Opens ๐ŸŽก is in 4 months, Sunset Before 7:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 20 weeks, Autumn ๐Ÿ‚ is in 23 weeks and Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 26 weeks.

Water

April 13, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒƒ There is a northwest breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. You might say it’s a pleasant evening. Sitting out back drinking ๐Ÿป a leftover beer from Brooklyn or maybe Queens Night. I don’t normally drink anymore but sometimes a cold one is nice out back. Plus it was a free one. Maybe I’ll bring some beer camping this summer but I just don’t drink like I used to getting old.

I went out for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ on this most pleasant of nights. Lots of people out walking around and riding bikes. After getting up to 80 degrees in my apartment today it’s cooled down quite a bit and should be excellent sleeping ๐Ÿ˜ด. Spring peepers are out there singing ๐ŸŽถ their songs. ๐Ÿธ

I actually didn’t sleep well last night with fear ๐Ÿ˜ฑ over stupid things – the recycling center might say my cans were too rusty or not clean enough or that something would go terribly wrong when replacing the brake pedal sensor. I mean I did get a bunch of superglue and dirt stuck on my fingers tacking up the LEDs to the truck cap but most of they cleaned up after a few hours. I also cracked my hands in multiple places replacing the brake switch. ๐Ÿ’ฃ It’s just been so dry lately and my skin is dry. Time to dig out the lotion. ๐Ÿ‘

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 43 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around May 1st. May isn’t that far away at this point. Monday is the Taxing Day in which will be the official be midpoint of the month. Definitely leaving the windows open tonight. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 1973.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ” with 75% illuminated. The moon will set at 3:45 am. The ๐ŸŒ• is on Thursday night with a chance of showers. The sun will rise at 6:16 am with the first light at 5:47 am, which is one minute and 39 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 10 hours and 39 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have rain likely, mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 63 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 25th. Maximum dew point of 47 at 6pm. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 49 degrees. The record high of 83 was set in 1968. 1.4 inches of snow fell back in 1950.โ„

Tomorrow morning early if I am awake and it’s still pretty nice I’ll either hike the rail trail or out to Five Rivers. I actually really like the walk out there. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณThen in the afternoon I plan to head into the city to John Wolcott’s house to continue helping him with going through his files ๐Ÿ“‚, sorting them and learning other tid bits of Albany history.

I am still debating whether to pack my camping gear โ›บ in the truck tomorrow. I may hold off on that as I noted earlier as I want to glue on the LED strip a little better. I have all week to do that and honestly based on the long range forecast I don’t think I’ll be camping next week. The following week is more likely for camping as the weather will only get better. I probably will take one or two days off the Thursday and Friday after Easter ๐Ÿฐbuy that’s still to be decided.

If the weather is decent for at least one day during the long weekend, I may hike Platte Clove Road๐Ÿ—ป although that’s still to be decided. I kind of want to hike where I’m not in the mud and that’s hard in the spring time. ๐ŸŒฑ

Good evening! Pouring rain and 57 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a south breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 21 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The dew point is 51 degrees. It really is coming down tonight, at least right now.

I’m continuing to play with some different parts of QGIS and data tonight. ๐ŸŒI skipped doing my evening walk ๐ŸŒƒ because of the rain and I kind of got into mapping a bit too much. To celebrate Grilled Cheese Day I made up some sandwiches and soup. Been raining on an off all evening here. At least I’m not out camping in this rain.

Tonight will have showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 3am, then showers likely. ๐ŸŒง Low of 55 degrees at 3am. 18 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around June 9th. Busy day tomorrow. Transfer station first then haircut then fix the brakr switch on the truck ๐Ÿšš , test the cruise control and Sunday dinner on Saturday at the folks house.

Looking ahead to Sunday, showers likely, mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 59. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. โ˜” Typical average high for the weekend is 57 degrees.

Sunday I want to start loading up the camping gear and fix the broken LED strip in the cap with a more modern energy efficient strip. ๐Ÿšฅ I may need some crimp connectors for that although I thought about soldering it. Then I’ll be set for camping as soon as the weather gets better. Probably not Easter Weekend ๐Ÿฐ but maybe the weekend after. I don’t want to start out my first trip of the year in the pouring rain.
