March 8, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Daylight Savings Time ๐ŸŒ†! I hope you remembered to set your clock ahead one hour last night but not on Microsoft Windows which reminds you with a big note. ๐Ÿ“ Linux does it too but doesn’t make a big deal about it. Next Sunday is Ides of March โœ. We will already be halfway through March at that point. Partly cloudy and 24 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Calm wind. Cold start to the morning but it’s expected to warm up quickly.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 57 degrees at 4pm. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 12th. I like it when April weather comes a month early. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 34 degrees. The record high of 68 was set in 2012. 6.5 inches of snow fell back in 2013.โ„

This morning I am meeting some people and going for a walk at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒIt should be a really nice day. Later on I’ll probably go for a hike somewhere to be decided then out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. ๐Ÿฒ Maybe Thacher Park?๐Ÿ’ญ I haven’t been up way that in a while but some of trails might be really muddy. Tomorrow is going to be even nicer but alas me gotta work ๐Ÿ‘ท and make money ๐Ÿ’ต so I can enjoy the real nice weather when it happens. โ˜€

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:07 pm with sun having an altitude of 42.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-28.1ยฐ vs. 6/21). Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 34 degrees at 6am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 6th. South wind 3 to 7 mph. In 1965, Thirty-five hundred United States Marines are the first American land combat forces committed during the Vietnam War. ๐Ÿ’ฃ The escalation of the war was well underway at that point. It would last for another decade and was pretty tragic for all parties involved.

As previously noted, next Sunday is Ides of March โœ when the sun will be setting at 7:02 pm with dusk at 7:30 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny, but quite warm with rain showers and temperatures between 72 and 44 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 44 degrees. We hit a record high of 72 back in 2019.

 Typical winter 2016 afternoon

March 7, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Three weeks to Average High is 50 ๐ŸŒธ. Partly sunny and 30 degrees at the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. There is a north-northwest breeze at 14 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The current wind chill is 19. Nice morning but cold to start out the day with that wind. But I’m hoping for a warm up tomorrow that will last for a while. Things will start to thaw out at around 10 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Last night I woke up with a cramp in my leg. ๐Ÿ’ชI was real painful then but it went away. But I ended up not getting a real early start but I made it Five Rivers by nine. ๐ŸฆNot a lot of wildlife out on this rather chilly morning.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 41 degrees at 3pm. Typical for today. North wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1974. 10.3 inches of snow fell back in 1967.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:07 pm with sun having an altitude of 42.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-28.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:16 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (258ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (264ยฐ) starting at 5:50 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 6:21 pm, which is one minute and 12 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east (93ยฐ) at an altitude of 30ยฐ from the horizon, 228,874 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:54 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 39 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 33 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Today’s agenda is pretty standard. ๐Ÿšถ I’ll probably head home at noon ๐Ÿ•› go to Schodack Island in the afternoon, visit Aldis and wash my truck. ๐Ÿšฟ Also want to start unpacking and organizing my camping gear. โ›บ I doubt I’ll get out camping next week but I want to be ready when the weather comes. Also want to drop off the recycling paper ๐Ÿ“„ at the park and ride. ๐Ÿ…ฟ Soon I’ll need to take the cans and bottles to the transfer station. โ™ป And maybe get rid of some other junk. Although a lot of it is scrap metal.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 21 degrees at 4am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 3rd. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 7 degrees. The record low of -2 occurred back in 1989.

With the forecast for this week and shutting off the heat at my apartment. โ™จ Except for tonight the mercury is going to be well above freezing and with lots of sun to heat the building with radiation. โ˜€ It might be warm enough on Monday and Tuesday to open the windows for the day. Might be a bit chilly tomorrow morning but so be it.

Back in 1967, Bloody Sunday: a group of 600 civil rights marchers is brutally attacked by state and local police in Selma, Alabama. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ Things have changed a lot in America since then but too much remains the same.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 50 ๐ŸŒธ when the sun will be setting at 7:17 pm with dusk at 7:45 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 55 and 33 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 50 degrees. We hit a record high of 85 back in 1945.

Spring?

March 2, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy, damp and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a south breeze at 9 mph. โ˜ Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I went over to John Wolcott house 🏡 for a while this afternoon and continued going through his files 📂. Not a lot of very interesting files to be found today but you never know what will turn up. It’s been over a year since I started and were running low on files to go through. Still gotta talk to Lynne about the labels.

Did a little reading 📖 on this Read Across America Day, and I plan to do more reading in the coming weeks especially once it gets a little nicer and I can sit out back with a book 📙.

Missed out on my evening walk 🚶 because by the time I got home and dinner cooked it was after nine. โŒ› Too bad it’s kind of a nice night 🌃 but a bit cloudy and damp.

Progress continues on the code for the historical vs modern ortho photos slider section of the blog. 💻 The slider just uses a jquery library, all the work is adapting the data structure in the blog to handle the multiple photos. But now it’s mostly at the testing stage before I start uploading files.🌐 Getting close though – if I didn’t have to spend so much time fixing my stupid mistakes I could have pushed it live sooner. 🔜

Tonight will have a slight chance of rain before 4am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 39 degrees at 5am. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 19th. South wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had light snow in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 1950.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous 🌔 Moon with 54% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the west-southwest (252ยฐ) at an altitude of 50ยฐ from the horizon, some 241,687 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. 🚀 At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by September 2nd. Buckle up for safety! 💺 The Worm 🐛 Moon is on Monday, March 9. The darkest hour is at 12:08 am, followed by dawn at 6:01 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:30 am in the east (99ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 56 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 39 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:08 am with sun in the east-southeast (105ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 39 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 55 degrees at 2pm. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 7th. Light and variable wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 39 degrees. The record high of 64 was set in 2002. 10.9 inches of snow fell back in 1994.โ„

In four weeks on March 30 the sun will be setting in the west (276ยฐ) at 7:19 pm (Daylight Savings Time),🌄 which is one hour, 32 minutes and 50 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, warm weather for March and temperatures between 71 and 42 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 51 and 31 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 1986.

March 2, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Read Across America Day ๐Ÿ“š! Nothing beats a good old fashion book, especially on a nice evening down at the park or up in the woods. Great way to pass time, especially on a rainy day at camp. Last night was the first quarter moon. Next Monday is Worm Moon ๐ŸŒ•. Cloudy and 31 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear around 1 pm.

Kind of a gray and cloudy morning โ˜ today. Going to be mild for sure. The heat on the bus ๐Ÿš is ridiculous but I’m a bit hot because I had to run home and grab my lunch which I left on the kitchen table. Feeling better this morning, although this roaring hot bus makes my throat feel sticky and cough a bit. But I am not sick, or so I tell myself.

This afternoon I’m going over to John Wolcott house ๐Ÿก as long as I feel okay ๐Ÿ‘Œ. I was feeling better last night but I took a sleeping pill ๐Ÿ’Š to make sure I got a good night’s sleep before the work week but this dry and hot air on the bus is no good for my throat.

Today will have a slight chance of rain or freezing rain before 11am, then a slight chance of rain after 5pm. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 53 degrees at 4pm. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 3rd. South wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 37 degrees. The record high of 65 was set in 1991. 11.9 inches of snow fell back in 2018.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:08 pm with sun having an altitude of 40.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-30.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Sun angle is getting higher, which means fewer real cold days, and even if we do get snow, it won’t stick around super long, at least in the valley. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:09 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (255ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (262ยฐ) starting at 5:44 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 56 seconds with dusk around 6:14 pm, which is one minute and 14 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the south (183ยฐ) at an altitude of 69ยฐ from the horizon, 242,018 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:48 pm. At sunset, look out for possible rain showers ๐ŸŒงย  (but I hope not) and temperatures around 51 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 15 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of rain before 7pm, then a chance of showers, mainly between 7pm and midnight. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 37 degrees at 6am. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 13th. South wind 8 to 13 mph becoming light southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had light snow in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 1950.

Today in 1989, Twelve European Community nations agree to ban the production of all chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) by the end of the century. ๐Ÿ’ญ It turned out not to be a big deal, because HCFCs were already common by then, and newer refrigerants were well on their way to coming on the market. Now, they are phasing out refrigerants that have a high global warming potential for more climate friendly ones.๐ŸŒ Certainly it was an easy enough fix for consumers, with minimal cost or inconvenience, most of the hard-work — engineering — had to be done by the manufacturers. Not sure if the other climate goals can be done just by engineering, despite the fact that people want to drive their electric cars to Wally World ๐Ÿš— generated by massive solar facilities not in their backyards.

I am continuing to work on the blog code โŒจ to re-write the uploader to handle multiple images to allow the before and after images to be saved under the same page ID. It’s actually a bigger re-write then that, but it will make uploading imaging much faster and reliable for me, making it easier for me to design content for the blog. I am really fascinated by what I can put together with those old aerial photos in comparison to modern ones. It’s going to give a lot of content to blog about.๐Ÿ–ผ

I decided to grow back my sideburns a bit, ๐Ÿ’‡ after cutting them shorter and shorter. They’re kind of long now, I haven’t decided how long I am going to keep them. Maybe a bit too long now, but that’s to be decided. We’ll see as things get warmer out.

This week I need to rearrange my finances to find the $1,000 I need to open an IRA account. ๐Ÿค‘ I have had a Roth IRA account for years, and I enjoy the fact that I’ll never have to pay taxes on it, but now that I’m working in the private sector and don’t have the advantage of a 457(b) Deferred Compensation, I am getting killed by taxes despite maximizing my 401k.๐Ÿ‘ซSo I am doing the IRA thing. Actually, this my make sense if I eventually move out west to a state without income tax on retirement savings — or at least a high threshold — New York is $18k tax exempt. My only concern is that I might have a big tax bill in the future, if I cash out a big chunk in my later years to buy a tractor or implement ๐Ÿšœ or a new truck. ๐Ÿš— I don’t make that money, but it’s obnoxious that I pay more in income tax each month then rent. โš– Thank you government for spending all of my money.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 36. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Typical average high for the weekend is 41 degrees. Might be a nice weekend to get out of town. But where? A lot of places are still closed off due to the snow and mud.ย I could possibly use a sled and drag back gear for tent camping in the back country, but the snow might be kind of soft and melty. Maybe it’s just best at this point to save money ๐Ÿ’ธ and wait for the spring time, which ain’t that far away. ๐Ÿ’

๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผOnly 17 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผ

Going past the Elbow Room I noticed that they have a giant Corona Beer neon sign on their window. ๐Ÿป I’m sure that’s good for business today. Myself I’m just looking forward to warmer weather and having a cold one up in the woods next tot he fire. I don’t normally drink but I do like a cold Corona on a hot day next to a fire, as gross as the bottles get before you return them. Summer road trips and camping up on Piseco-Powley Road can’t be too far away. I really like laying out back on the hammock.

As previously noted, next Monday is Worm Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 6:55 pm with dusk at 7:23 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2019, we had sunny and temperatures between 42 and 12 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 41 degrees. We hit a record high of 81 back in 2016.

Snow Covered Bushes

February 24, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Off to work on this sunny and pleasant Monday morning. Maybe not warm enough to open the windows but I doubt the heat is working much. Next Monday is Read Across America Day 📚. It just needs to be nice enough to go down to the park.

Mostly sunny and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. There is no snow on the ground. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around 6 pm. โ„ I approve of this even in Trump’s America.

Listening to Switched on Bach on the way to work today. 🎶 So futuristic. That album will never get old. Too bad that Wendy Carlos won’t allow it on the YouTube. Many people don’t realize that the Moog corporation is headquarted in Buffalo, New York. 🐃 Buffalo is kind of a rough industrial 🏭 city.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 56 degrees at 3pm. 19 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 10th. South wind 5 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had light drizzle in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 42 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 2017. 8 inches of snow fell back in 1962.โ„

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 37.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-33ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 5:00 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (251ยฐ). 📸

The sunset is in the west-southwest (258ยฐ) starting at 5:36 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 58 seconds with dusk around 6:06 pm, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 Might be a good evening to take pictures. 📷 At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent 🌒 Moon in the west-southwest (253ยฐ) at an altitude of 7ยฐ from the horizon, 251,903 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 6:40 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 51 degrees. There will be a southwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 58 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 33 degrees at 6am. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 3rd. Light and variable wind. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 24 degrees. The record low of -14 occurred back in 1914.

Cool to kick off March with temperatures running 10 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜€ Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 29. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 28. Typical average high for the weekend is 38 degrees. Honestly, it should be a nice weekend and most of the snow will be killed off by the rain this week. But maybe not in the higher elevations?โ˜”

Looking forward to getting through February this week and March starting Saturday. 🌸 Saturday is March 1st. A week from Saturday is the time change. Some years I get out camping in March, a lot depends on the weather and how long the snow sticks around especially in the higher elevation. I don’t see a lot more snow in the future 🔮 but who knows how long winter will last.

🌹🌻🌼Only 24 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

As previously noted, next Monday is Read Across America Day 📚 when the sun will be setting at 5:46 pm with dusk at 6:14 pm. February 17, 2020 Night

Good evening! Presidents Day Weekend is done. Next stop, Good Friday in April. Partly clear and 24 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌃 Calm breeze. Little chilly but it’s still February for a few more weeks. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Maybe more come the morning until it turns to rain? ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 11 am. 🌡๏ธ

It was a nice day up at Rensselaerville State Forest. 🎿 Don’t get out there much these days. Lots of shooting with an AR, not me, in the gravel pit and I passed by some trappers and a bush crafter who was camping in the back country but otherwise very quiet. It is kind of nice not that far away. I should camp up there some time too. That campsite number 2 looks quite nice and it officially designated a campsite. โ›บ Maybe Memorial Day Weekend? Just a thought.

Beautiful country out that way, I’d love to eventually live in a place like that 🐮 minus the gun 🔫 and open burning restrictions. 🔥 Plus I feel like the houses are a bit too close for comfort and I don’t want to have a place that is on a road with utility services. 🔌 Some parts of the Pennsylvania Wilds remind me of that. Going to places like Rensselaerville reminds me of how much great wild country there is out there. 🐻

Tonight will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a low of 22 degrees at 1am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 4th. Maximum wind chill around 24 at 10pm; Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 13 degrees. The record low of -21 occurred back in 1973.

Tonight will have a Waining Crescent 🌘 Moon with 27% illuminated. The Worm 🐛 Moon is on Wednesday, March 4. Sunrise is one minute and 25 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:31 am with sun in the east-southeast (113ยฐ). Tonight will have 13 hours and 19 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will snow likely before noon, then rain and snow likely between noon and 1pm, then rain likely after 1pm. Cloudy 🌧, with a high of 40 degrees at 4pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 4th. Southeast wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Probably just a lot of slop in the morning and then heavy rain come the afternoon. I need to get groceries and I want to wash my truck. 🚙 A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1981. 6.3 inches of snow fell back in 2000.โ„

Another View of Tower

February 13, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. The direct drive of the week. Next Thursday is 5:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ†. As the sign on the bridge says, “When there is no hope, there is spring!” And black flies. They’re waiting. ๐Ÿœ Snow, slop and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ„ Calm wind. The sidewalks have the consistency of a pasture after a wet spring today with all the snow, rain and slop on them. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 7 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Today will rain, snow and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain before noon, then a chance of snow showers between noon and 1pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers after 1pm. ๐ŸŒง High of 38 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 1st. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 38 degrees. The record high of 58 was set in 1900. 9 inches of snow fell back in 1893.โ„

I mean it could be worse in Trump’s ๐ŸŽบ America, this could all be ice or deep snow. The later would be less sloppy but it would delay traffic with the cidiots abandoning their cars ๐Ÿš˜ in the middle of the street, calling it parallel parking. ๐Ÿ…ฟ I’ve been wearing my black leather work boots ๐Ÿ‘ข to work lately and keeping my dress shoes under the desk at work. Seems to work well.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 33.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-36.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:44 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (246ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (253ยฐ) starting at 5:21 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 3 seconds with dusk around 5:52 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:27 pm. At sunset, look for possibly more rain ๐ŸŒง and snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 37 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 28 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 15 degrees at 6am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around February 5th. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 26 degrees. The record low of -13 occurred back in 2016.

Today I have to renew the two library books I have out. ๐Ÿ“š I finished up the Almost President book I was reading over the past week, and I can return it tonight when I go down to the library, but I figured I’d renew it to be safe. I am starting reading a book about electrical wiring, as I want to further my knowledge of electricity and code issues — I am hoping to understand the electrical code, so eventually when I own land I can make appropriate upgrades on my off-grid property. Even if I live in a place without code enforcement, it’s good to have a safe system that doesn’t burn your house to the ground or shock you to head.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees.

Somehow I have this vague thought about heading out of town this weekend, โ›บ even though I know that there is no chance in hell of that happening. But come April the snow will be replaced by rain, mud and black flies I tell myself. ๐ŸŽฃ Trout season too. I bet there is still a ton of snow out in Madison County — actually there is a checked. So that’s probably not a realistic option but Presidents Day might still be a good opportunity to go skiing โ›ท maybe out at Partridge Run or Rensselearville State Forest. I haven’t been in the later in some time.๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ
