Good evening! Cloudy and 60 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. ☁ There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 53 degrees. A few sprinkles here and there but no heavy rain yet. Kind of a dark and breezy nih in the woods. πŸ’¨The skies will clear Tuesday around 8 am.

A very brief rain shower β˜” made me take down the hammock and grab the rain coat but as quick as it came it stopped. I sat by the fire πŸ”₯ for a while but decided to hang up my hammock after I leaned over and my chair snapped. I’m not surprised 😲, I knew it was about to break. I usually only get about a year out of those camp chairs unfortunately. I’ll leave the old one at Walmart for landfill disposal and pick up a new one the next time I’m there.

The wind πŸƒ caught one of the candles on the ground on fire πŸ”₯ and proceeded to start a minor grass fire. 🌾 I was able to stomp it out but I had no idea how combustible the grass was up here.

I fully expect in a few hours maybe less it will start to pour. πŸ’¦ But I have everything put away that shouldn’t get wet or would otherwise require drying when I got home. It may very well be a quite wet night but it’s been a good long weekend up north and this campsite is well drained so I expect no flooding here at camp. Probably leave fairly early tomorrow and drive home in the rain and get unpacked. 🏑 Not a big deal. Probably next weekend I’ll stay in town. The following week I’m heading down to New York for work so it will be nice to have a weekend just at home.

New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It was humid. It got down to 66 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 2017.

Labor Day will have showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. 🌧 High of 66 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 30th. Maximum dew point of 60 at 1pm. πŸ–οΈ South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 83 degrees. The record high of 100 was set in 1953.

Today was kind of a lazy day. I reolacd the other burner in the camp stove and reglued the knob that had come loose and it seems like both burners are working good in the stove. ♨ With colder weather ahead I plan to be doing more cooking. I did go for a brief walk but I didn’t hear much squirrel activity I think due to the unstable weather. So it was spaghetti 🍝 and meatballs for dinner. At least it seems like both burners are working well on the camp stove. The bulk of the day was spent reading πŸ“– a book in my hammock about the mission creep of the defense department. As defense increasingly becomes the only department that politicians want to fund, its mission keeps expanding. πŸ’£

This upcoming week I want to hook up the low voltage disconnect reset button again πŸ”˜in case I ever need to reset the power while camping on these longer nights. Doesn’t happen raglan anymore but I hate to be plunged into darkness without an easy way to restore power to the truck cap.

Good evening! Mostly clear and 53 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. Starry night πŸŒƒ, beautiful looking up at the starry skies but no northern lights.😍 Calm wind. The dew point is 48 degrees. Cool but in my hoodie not too bad. I brought the propane heater ♨ for the cold mornings but so far I haven’t used it. Maybe tomorrow though it will be nice with a hot cup of coffee. β˜•

I thought today was a good day. 🚢 It was nice hiking Pillsbury Mountain, it’s been eight years since I last done it. I was up there for an hour with nobody else around. First time ever going back to Cedar Lake in the West Canada Lakes Wilderness, it’s an area that I want to explore more. 🐸 The trails back there are pretty good and not real steep. I really should spend more nights back in the wilderness but I do like the ease of truck cap camping. I was happy 😊 that I didn’t run into many crowds back there although there was a couple πŸ‘« camping β›Ί back at Cedar Lake but I headed to a different part of the lake for solitude.

It became somewhat humid as the day progressed. The high last year was 79 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1953.

I might just hang out at camp tomorrow β›Ί with a good book πŸ“™ in the hammock or I could go hiking again. 🚢 Small game season opens tomorrow for squirrel,πŸ€ but we will see. I could drive over to Mason Lake and do some fishing 🎣 or maybe up to Watch Hill and hike it 🚢. Probably though will stay in camp, maybe see if I could drop some tree rats but I’ll see.

Tomorrow night is going to be quite wet based on the current model πŸ’¦but hopefully the rain will hold off until late. I’d like to enjoy a nice Sunday and then just overnight in the truck cap and head home early on Labor Day. This campsite is well drained so I’m not worried about mud by there also is no practical way to hang up tarps here.

Good evening! Mostly clear and 68 degrees in Dormansville, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 61 degrees.

Earlier today I got home and unpacked from my extended weekend trip up to Pisceo-Powley Road. β›Ί It wasn’t perfect weather but there was times when it was quite nice and I camped near a nice swimming hole 🏊 and laid in the hammock, listening to music and reading a book. πŸ“– I have more pictures I’ll post in the coming days although a lot of things I saw and did weren’t exactly photographic. The clams though were good. Sunday Dinner delayed at the folks house was chicken which was pretty good.

Good evening! Cloudy, sticky and 71 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. The dew point is 62 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around noontime.

I went over to John Wolcott’s house for a couple of hours to keep going through his files. πŸ—ƒΒ While I didn’t find anything remarkably interested, we are getting down on the boxes, and I expect this project to rap up by autumn. That said, next week with the Pine Bush Dinner and Hike, 🌲 and the fact I’m going up to the Adirondacks for four days, I doubt I’ll be able to do more next week. πŸ” Although maybe if I stay in town next weekend, I can go over to his house. We’ll see. I only stayed until 7:15 last night, as I wanted to get packed for camping.

Heading up to the Adirondacks tomorrow to beat the heat. πŸ—» Going to be hot weekend with the humidity but the potholers should be nice. I took off Monday and Tuesday, I might come back Monday it depends on the weather. I don’t have a camping permit so I’ll have to move to a new site for the second half of the trip if I stay all four nights. β›Ί I packed enough water and clothes for four nights but I could certainly change my mind.

Good evening! Partly clear and 71 degrees in Delmar, NY. πŸŽ‘ There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 58 degrees. Big bright moon overhead but it’s still warm enough that I decided to run the fan in my bedroom for a bit. I am pretty sure this weekend I’m going to spend at the Potholers. 🏊 I’m going to make it a three day weekend, taking off Monday of next week. I just have to find coverage at work. I was going to go down to the library tonight but that didn’t happen because it started to rain πŸ’§ and I got working on a project on my laptop, looking at some of the videos I had made up. Then I spent a lot of time trying to fix the zipper on my laptop bag. I may have to replace the bag, it’s been falling apart for some time now. I did go for my evening walk 🚢 and then I started watching a movie 🎦 on my laptop about abandoned Detroit car factories. 🏭
