October 6, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Four weeks to until the United States gets the final chance to decide between Biden this Time and the Trumpster, assuming he doesn’t pass from Coronavirus in the meantime. πŸ—³ Mostly cloudy and 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. The dew point is 50 degrees. The skies will clear around 5 am.

This morning started out rather cloudy ☁️ but the day has improved as it went on. More sun β˜€ later in the day although I’m working in the dungeon, so I won’t know what weather is like. But at least I won’t get rained on waiting for the bus. 🚌

Today will have patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 67 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 29th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 10am. Light south wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 65 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1900. There was a dusting of snow in 1954.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:44 pm with sun having an altitude of 42Β° from the due south horizon (-28.8Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Shadows grow long as autumn progresses. πŸ•³ The golden hour πŸ… starts at 5:51 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (257Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (264Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:29 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 6:55 pm, which is one minute and 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:30 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 66 degrees. The dew point will be 48 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 28 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have increasing clouds ☁, with a low of 51 degrees at 12am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 18th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 7pm. South wind around 8 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1986.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Maximum dew point of 52 at 7pm. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 65. Maximum dew point of 48 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 62 degrees.

I was planning on staying in town this weekend to avoid the holiday crowds but I could change my mind. πŸ’ With remote work it’s not that big of a deal but I don’t want to camp β›Ί when there are a lot of people at Stoney Pond but it would be nice if there was still some autumn color out that way. πŸ‚

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until it’s the final chance to vote ❎ when the sun will be setting at 4:45 pm with dusk at 5:14 pm (Standard Time). At nine o’clock the hour of voting ends in New York but tabulation of the votes will probably go until Turkey Day. πŸ¦ƒOn that day in 2019, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 30 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 53 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.
