October 5, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Monday, Monday. And not a pay week this week. πŸ’ΈAt least it’s not California Dreaming although these days it seems like North Idaho dreaming would be the song on the radio. Too popular and expensive for my taste now. Next Monday is Columbus Day β›΅ πŸ‚ . Usually the best for autumn color although this year will likely be past peak. Foggy 🌁 and cloudy ☁️ and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The skies will clear around 2 pm.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 64 degrees at 3pm. Typical for today. Maximum dew point of 49 at 6pm. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1941. Should be a nice day for the start of the second week of October.

Kind of slept in today πŸ› being a gray start to the morning with the fog and clouds. 🌫 I had blueberry pancakes πŸ₯ž again and lots of coffee β˜•. I didn’t quite get a chance to go for my walk 🚢🏻 but hopefully the evening can be good for that.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:44 pm with sun having an altitude of 42.4Β° from the due south horizon (-28.4Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 5:53 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (258Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (264Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:31 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 6:57 pm, which is one minute and 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:31 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 61 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 11 hours and 31 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 47 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 27th. Light south wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1965.

A picture perfect Columbus Day β›΅ πŸ‚ Weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, sunny, with a high near 69. Maximum dew point of 51 at 3pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 67. Maximum dew point of 52 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 62 degrees. That said, because it’s been a relatively cool late September this year the leaves may be past peak in many locations.

While I’m not totally decided, I’m leaning towards staying in town for Columbus Day Weekend. β›΅πŸ‚ That doesn’t mean day hikes 🚢🏻 or even some hunting but I don’t want to go to a crowded campground in Madison County when I can go a week later and see no one. If I didn’t need cell service πŸ“Ά I would have more options but I’m not really interested in going to either the Green Mountains or Spectulator again. I’ve also only really budgeted for one trip this month.

Looking ahead, there are 8 weeks until Cyber Monday πŸ›οΈ and Beaver Moon πŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 33 and 19 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 42 degrees. We hit a record high of 67 back in 1933.
