October 24, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Next Thursday is Halloween πŸŽƒ. How fast this month came and went! It was a good one, and November plans to have lots of nice adventures. I am hoping for some bright and sunny, crisp November days after the leaves are off the trees. Sunny and 38 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 There is a south breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ.

I got to bed before ten last night πŸŒƒ and took a sleeping pill πŸ’Š so I slept fairly soundly. Still got a little bit of migraine and aches this morning but I took another pill and I figure doing more walking and healthier eating 🍏 hopefully I’ll start to feel better soon. Too much drinking 🍻 and having fun on vacation then camping at my parents house.

Nice sunny morning taking the express bus downtown. 🚍 It’s the first time in weeks I’ve walked down to the express 🚢 although in the coming weeks I may do it more because with my new job I’m starting next week I’ll be punching the clock ⏰ and the work day starts earlier. Even on days I don’t walk down to the express, I’ll be taking the earlier local bus downtown – I’ll shoot for the 8:05 but if I catch the 8:25 that should be good enough most days. Gotta leave some margin in case something delays you in the morning.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 66 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 1st. I’ll definitely take early October weather in late October. South wind 7 to 13 mph. It’s still a bit cold this morning, but I opened the windows in my apartment today to let things air out. 🌬 A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 49 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 2017. There was a dusting of snow in 1962.❄

The sun will set at 6:00 pm with dusk around 6:28 pm, which is one minute and 29 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 61 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 40 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 42 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 9th. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northwest after midnight. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 1981.

I am going to miss not having the nice views, πŸ”Β when I move into my new office next week, but it’s a step forward in my career. β–« At least I’ll be probably taking the express bus in more often, as I will have to be to work earlier, and there won’t be the late nights.Β Some pain is better for a better tomorrow,Β πŸ’° and hopefully it will allow me to save more, and have a chance to move forward.

Today in 1977, pursuant to National Holiday Law, Veterans Day is observed on the fourth Monday in October for the seventh and last time. πŸŽ–The holiday is once again observed on November 11 beginning the following year.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, 🌞 with a high near 56. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Sunday, rain. 🌧 High near 57. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Typical average high for the weekend is 56 degrees.

I am glad I’m staying in town this weekend. 🏑 I just need to caught up on a lot of things including rest and cleaning. I might have considered heading out of town if the rain hadn’t come until late on Sunday, and I felt less sick, but it looks like Sunday is going to be a good soaker. Not that we need much rain here, we’re already 3″ over what is normal for October, and 4″ over for the year.

As previously noted, next Thursday is Halloween πŸŽƒΒ when the sun will be setting at 5:50 pm with dusk at 6:19 pm. On that day in 2018, we had mostly cloudy, patches of fog and temperatures between 61 and 28 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 54 degrees. We hit a record high of 73 back in 1946.
