October 14, 2020 Night
Good evening! Clear and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. π
So far it’s a nice night with crickets π¦ in the background and stars up above but I’m tired after a long day and will soon head inside. Worked most of the day down at the library parking lot π Ώ and then came home. Installed the new battery π in my laptop. π» Called into the Guilderland Town Planning Board meeting with a concern about the proposed Rapp Road rerouting. π§ Answered some emails π§ and went for my evening walk, maybe even watching a YouTube video πΊ and making up a few new maps πΊ for the blog.
Tonight will be clear early, then becoming mostly cloudy βοΈ, with a low of 44 degrees at 11pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 4th. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1978.
Tonight will have a Waining Crescent π Moon with 4% illuminated. The Blue π Moon is on Friday, October 30. The darkest hour is at 12:42 am, followed by dawn at 6:40 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:08 am in the east (101Β°) and last for 2 minutes and 57 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. π The golden hour ends at 7:47 am with sun in the east-southeast (107Β°). Tonight will have 12 hours and 54 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over last night.
Mornings sure are dark this time of year. π While it’s not such a big deal as I don’t have a bus π to catch downtown but I like the morning walk before the deluge of emails and calls come in. π₯
Tomorrow will be sunny π, with a high of 72 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 17th. Maximum dew point of 54 at 2pm. South wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1897. There was a dusting of snow in 1939.β
I plan to work from home π‘ tomorrow, and it should be a nice day to work out back if not too windy. It’s nice that my personal laptop now once again has a good battery life. π That said I usually have my truck π or the wall outlet to plug π it into. One nice thing about working remotely is that I can work outside. That said, I do kind of miss going downtown and having a real office π’.
Not sure if I’m going to be able to get out of town this weekend. βΊ I’m watching the forecast but honestly it doesn’t look all that great. Maybe it’s best I stay home. I don’t know. I should have headed out last week quite honestly. It’s not like I’m going to have my weekend free to myself I’m sure I’ll still be busy doing the usual for work.
In four weeks on November 11 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (246Β°) at 4:36 pm (Standard Time),π which is one hour, 37 minutes and 59 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 43 and 30 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 50 and 33 degrees. The record high of 70 degrees was set back in 2002.
Finally fixed some of the issues with the countdown clock β below. Namely I often cut and paste from previous years and forget to update things. But I should be good now with the right dates for holidays through the end of the year.
Looking ahead, Average High is 55 π is in 2 weeks, Day After Election Day π is in 3 weeks, Veterans Day πΊπΈ is in 4 weeks, Earliest Sunset of the Year βοΈ is in 8 weeks, Tea Party Day π is in 9 weeks, Festivus π is in 10 weeks, Bacon Day π₯ is in 11 weeks, Make Your Dream Come True Day π‘ is in 13 weeks, Coldest Week of the Year π¬ is in 3 months, Inauguration Day β is in 14 weeks, Clean Your Computer Day π§Ή is in 17 weeks, Valentines Day β€οΈ is in 4 months and Presidents Day π΄ is in 18 weeks.
