October 10, 2016 Night
Good evening! As our Columbus Day Weekend raps up the mercury is quickly dropping. Clear and 39 degrees in North Syracuse. Calm wind. Cold night ahead.
I thought it was a nice Columbus Weekend but it went by much too quickly. Next big holiday is Election Day and Veterans Day which falls on a Friday this year. But then again, I will probably just take that week off. I have a lot of time to take off during hunting season and before the end of the year.
Jones Hill was pretty today but I sure was disappointed it wasn’t peak color. I might head back come the weekend. We will see. I also want to explore Jamesville Reservation before the colors are gone and more of Green Lakes State Park but the later is only a short drive from where I am staying.
The next few nights will be really clear and cold. Lots of stars but also with our first real frost of the year.
Tonight will have patchy frost after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low of 34 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees below normal. Calm wind. The record low of 22 occurred back in 1943. Waxing Gibbous Moon tonight with 65% illuminated. The moon will set around 4:18 am. The Full βHunterβ Moon is on Saturday night with partly cloudy skies expected and a chance of showers.
Tomorrow will have patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high of 65 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 39 at 6pm. Light southeast wind. The record high of 86 was set in 1949. The sun will rise at 7:13 am with the first light at 6:45 am, which is 1 minutes and 11 seconds later then yesterday.
Looking ahead, Halloween is in 3 weeks and Beaver Moon is in 5 weeks.
