November 3, 2017 5 PM Update
Happy Weekend! Going home time. Drive home safely and you’ll be able to enjoy your weekend. Last evening commute at 5 pm until late January where the sun will still be up. Set your clock back an hour on Sunday. Partly clear and 57 degrees in Delmar. Breezy, 16 mph breeze from the west-northwest with gusts up to 29 mph. The dew point is 46 degrees. It’s a bit chilly with that breeze and not as much clearing as I would have hoped this evening. Maybe later.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 36 degrees at 6am. One degree above normal. Northwest wind 11 to 16 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. In 2016, we had mostly cloudy skies. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1951.
Tonight is the Beaver Moon. It is going to be cool but clear, so get out and enjoy it. The sun will rise at 7:33 am with the first light at 7:03 am, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. I believe tomorrow is the latest sunrise of the year for Albany but I would have to check that against the times in January. Tonight will have 13 hours and 49 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 29 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will be partly sunny, with a high of 50 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal. Northeast wind 3 to 5 mph. With the sun, especially in the morning it shouldn’t be too cold. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. The high last year was 53 degrees. The record high of 76 was set in 1994. There was a dusting of snow in 2006.
Looking ahead to Sunday, showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 57. South wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees.
In four weeks on December 1 the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm (Standard Time), which is one hour and 22 minutes earlier then today. In 2016 on that day, we had rain, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 50 and 37 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 41 and 27 degrees. The record high of 67 degrees was set back in 1934. I find it hard to accept that we are now four weeks out from December. And three from Buy Nothing Day, which means it will be a four day weekend for me, which is nice.
I am continuing to research things I can build off the Arduino platform. It looks like for the hobbyist building relatively simple circuits, I can just move my projects from the breadboards over to perf board and solder them together for permanent ongoing uses, like the LED color changing lamp and Election Day countdown clock im building. EBay has different plastic and aluminum cases I could mount the perf board in.
Looking ahead, Cold Moon is a month away and Election Day 2020 is in 35 months.
