November 1, 2019 Morning
Good morning! Happy November π₯§! I really like the month of November, the mornings are crisp and often sunny, the evenings are long π¦ and good for cooking and sitting by the fire. π₯ Four weeks to Buy Nothing Day and the Thanksgiving Friday ποΈ. Partly sunny and 48 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. Breezy, οΈ23 mph breeze from the west π¬ with gusts up to 41 mph π¨π¨π¨.
Waiting out for the bus at the express bus, πI was a bit concerned for a while that it might not arrive. π But ultimately it did, and I made it downtown in time for work. The wind is pretty crazy downtown, but I am sure it will die down by the time I get into the office, and I won’t notice it at all in my windowless, quiet underground office.
Woke up last night with a bit of congestion and a cough π― but I don’t feel too bad this morning. It seems like it’s been a rough few weeks with being slightly sick although I haven’t missed much work lately and I’ve been getting lots of sleep. Maybe I need to do more hand β washing. I know my parents last week had a cold, but i was sick too, so I figured I wouldn’t catch their cold. Go figure.
Today will be mostly sunny π, with a high of 52 degrees at 11am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 5th. Going to get a few degrees warmer but by evening will drop into the forties. Windy, with a west wind 22 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1950. 3.9 inches of snow fell back in 1951.β
The sun will set at 5:48 pm with dusk around 6:18 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds earlier than yesterday. π At sunset, look for mostly clear skies π and temperatures around 47 degrees. Breezy, 18 mph breeze β from the west with gusts up to 33mph. Today will have 10 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an decrease of 2 minutes and 34 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will be mostly clear π, with a low of 29 degrees at 6am. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 24th. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 48 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 2002.
Tomorrow which is Saturday will be sunny π, with a high of 51 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 7th. Light and variable wind. Going to be a pretty nice day for November. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 64 degrees. The record high of 82 was set in 1950. A dusting of snow fell back in 1911.β Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny, β with a high near 48. Light and variable wind becoming west 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees.
Still thinking about heading up to Vermont to camp πand do some hiking up in the White Rocks area. πThat said, fixing the headlight bulb really has to be top priority this weekend. π§ But after that, I just need to get propane and then head out of town. I am probably not going to do any political canvasing this weekend, but I might help out again on Tuesday, Election Day. It all depends on how much time. With the time change this weekend, we do get an extra hour.
Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Buy Nothing Day ποΈ when the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm with dusk at 4:55 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 56 and 28 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 42 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 2005.
