March 27, 2023 Morning
Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. The final Monday of March as they say, although I could totally see the legislature suspending the clock πto get a few more days out of March and the fiscal year.
Mostly clear π and 30 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. A bit chilly to start out the morning but it will warm up quickly as we are in the end of March. π‘οΈIt’s nice how the mornings once again have more light and I can walk at 6 or 6:15 am in the morning before breakfast π₯£. Truth is it works so much better for my mornings.
Today will rain likely, mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds πππ¦οΈ, with a high of 51 degrees at 1pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 29th. Light and variable wind becoming northeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Better pack my umbrella β. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1998. 6.7 inches of snow fell back in 1959.β
Solar noon π is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 49.9Β° from the due south horizon (-20.9Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π starts at 6:38 pm with the sun in the west (268Β°). πΈ
The sunset is in the west (274Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:15 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:43 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. π At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter π Moon in the west-southwest (238Β°) at an altitude of 65Β° from the horizon, 247,783 miles away. π The best time to look at the stars is after 8:17 pm. At sunset, look for rain π§ and temperatures around 45 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 12 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over today.
Tonight will rain and snow before 1am, then rain likely between 1am and 2am, then a chance of rain and snow after 2am. π§ Low of 34 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 2nd. North wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2022, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 18 degrees. The record low of 3 occurred back in 1923.
Another crappy Saturday ahead but mild. π Saturday, rain. High near 62. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Maximum dew point of 48 at 8am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 47. Typical average high for the weekend is 52 degrees. Maybe Sunday if I’m not busy with work I’ll do a twenty mile hike.
Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until 8 PM Dusk π when the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 49 and 36 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 57 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.
