March 13, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Wednesday as we stare blankly into space, waiting for the mothership to arrive!๐Ÿš€ Tonight is the first 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ†, which will continue until mid September ! Mostly sunny and 23 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. A bit of a cold start this morning for sure. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Melting away quickly, I’m sure most of it will be gone except for the piles by the weekend. ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 10 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

It was cold โ„ in my apartment when I first woke up this morning. I guess I could turn up the heat ๐Ÿ”ฅ but for the most part I think we are past the really cold weather and I’d rather save energy. Hoping soon I can kill the heat for the season. Made eggs for breakfast ๐Ÿณ today, ironed my shirt and pants ๐Ÿ‘š caught the bus this morning.

Today will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a high of 46 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around March 19th. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became heavy snow by afternoon. The high last year was 34 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2012. 22.0 inches of snow fell back in 1993.โ„ Much less than the 1888 storm I mentioned yesterday.

The sun will set at 7:00 pm with dusk around 7:29 pm, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 42 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday. Early next week we will have more day than night โ˜€ and calendar spring ๐Ÿ“… is something like March 21.

Tonight will have a slight chance of light rain before 11pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 32 degrees at 1am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around April 1st. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had snow in the evening, which became mostly sunny by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of -06 occurred back in 1948.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 55 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 7th. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Almost beach weather in Upstate NY, I know I’ll be walking outside to the Capitol. ๐ŸนA year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became heavy snow by afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1946. 17.0 inches of snow fell back in 2017.โ„

Most of the morning yesterday I was feeling pretty sick I have to admit. At Brooklyn Night I had a few beers ๐Ÿป and a shot of whiskey plus something that had to be super caffinated โ˜• as I struggled to get to sleep afterwards. Felt better by afternoon but then I got busy and forgot about lunch and dinner ๐Ÿ› until I got home and had a quick dinner of chicken nuggets and a burrito. Not healthy but I wanted a quick eat before running ๐Ÿƒ out to the car wash.

It was so cold โ„ washing Big Red last night. The ice froze on the outside of the truck before I could get done washing but at least I got a lot of salt and caked on mud before it could all turn to rust. ๐Ÿ‰The tin worm never sleeps and it will be in the fifties and sixties by the second half of the week although rain โ˜” is expected Friday. I don’t plan to drive a lot of miles next week, so I should plan to keep Big Red clean through next week. I should check โ˜‘ the oil on Big Red and top of the windshield washer fluid before firing up Red on Sunday.

Spent $18 at the grocery store and $3 on milk ๐Ÿฎ plus $6 for the car wash. I didn’t go grocery shopping this week so that’s good and I think with the food ๐Ÿฒ I bought and otherwise have at home I shouldn’t need to go grocery shopping this weekend. The less I can rack up on my credit card ๐Ÿ’ณ the better, as everything I buy now goes onto the bill due mid April and its going to be tight with taxes, rent and car insurance all due in a two or three week period. This time of year is always unpleasant financially for me but I know come spring and summer things will improve, and ultimately what’s important ain’t today but saving for a better tomorrow.

Today in 1991, the Justice Department announces that Exxon has agreed to pay $1 billion for the clean-up of the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.๐Ÿ“ฐ They definitely fought their liability for a long time like any responsible lawyer would do. Oil is pretty nasty stuff but we sure like the energy services it provides., ๐ŸšŽ๐Ÿš๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš•๐Ÿš—โœˆ

The latest forecast looks fairly sunny but somewhat cool for the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 45. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 44 degrees.

I think this weekend I’ll probably stay in town, maybe visit John Wolcott on Saturday to keep sorting his files ๐Ÿ“‚. Depends if he’s around and what my schedule looks like. Might also go for a walk on the rail trail or around town ๐Ÿšถ. Sunday also looks quite sunny โ˜€ , I might stop and do a hike before going out to the folks house although I’m not really crazy about driving after dark on Saint Patricks Day with the drunks and patrols on the road. ๐Ÿ€ I guess with the time change ๐ŸŒ‡ I could always head home before dusk. That said, driving after dark is much easier now that I fixed the headlights.

In four weeks on April 10 the sun will be setting at 7:31 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 32 minutes and 10 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 47 and 27 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 56 and 35 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 1922.

A bit further out, there are 7 weeks until May ๐Ÿ•Š when the sun will be setting at 7:55 pm with dusk at 8:26 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 74 and 43 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2001.

Looking ahead, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 12 weeks, Hottest Time of the Year ๐Ÿ˜… is in 4 months and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 97 weeks.
