More about Garnet Lake...

Garnet Lake partially developed lakefront in Johnsburg that offers primitive tent camping along the road and several paddle in sites. The tent campsites are too high on embankment over the road to allow for drive-in use, but it is beautiful lake with ample paddling opporunties.

Is there a carry to get to Garnet Lake or an easy put-in?

  • Gabbie Carpenter says:

Which, in your opinion is the nicest canoe site? Is the lake quite crowded or would we be able to go in on a Friday night and get a site?

I’ve only been up there in April, so I don’t know how crowded it is but I doubt it’s hard popular. I would say the nicest, most wilderness sites are on the south end, paddle in only, away from developed area. This time of year I doubt it’s very popular, and be aware the water is probably fairly cold, although last weekend when I was at Powley Place it wasn’t too bad.
