LASIK two months later πŸ‘οΈ

I remember getting a text from the LASIK eye doctor one week after the procedure asking for a good review if you were satisfied with the procedure and being WTF! Not because I was necessarily unhappy with dropping $4k on a lifetime fix to my vision but because my eyes weren’t yet fully healed or fully recovered and strengthened after the procedure and honestly were still itchy and need of regular use of dry eye solution.

It’s not to say I wasn’t immediately thrilled with not having to wear glasses and contacts, but it also wasn’t fun having to deal with dry eyes or eye drops for first week. While my day time vision was excellent – 20/15 immediately after the surgery – it took longer for my night vision to improve. But when it did, one of the first things I realized was how much brighter the night time looked. At first it was too bright at times with reflective signs – they tended to be washed out – but over time they became much more balanced as my eyes healed. Over time, the red eye disappeared, and the over bright reflective signs became less over-bright.

Truth is in many ways I’m amazed by how much my vision has improved. It was definitely worth it, even though at times at night I still think I need to remove my contacts, until I realize they aren’t a thing any more. And I’m not constantly touching my eyes, potentially damaging and scratching them as I try to fish out those pieces of plastic out of my eyes. Instead, I just have permanently fixed vision.
