June 8, 2016 Morning
Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. I think there is hope for the weekend. Currently partly cloudy and 61 degrees in Delmar. Breezy, 16 mph breeze from the west-northwest. Generally pleasant right now.
Scattered showers and cool for today. We will be scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 66. West wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The normal high for today is 76, so it will be about normal for this time of year. The record high of 93 happened back in 2011. That year was a pretty warm one for sure. If this summer is that warm, I plan to spend a lot of time at the Potholers. Which so far this summer hasn’t been real warm.
Tonight the sun will set at 8:32 pm with dusk around 9:06 pm, which is 35 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 15 hours and 14 minutes of daylight, an increase of 47 seconds over yesterday.
Isolated showers and continued cool tonight. We will be isolated showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. The normal low for tonight is 55, so it will be about seven degrees below normal. The record low of 37 occured back in 1977.
On this day in 1968, Robert F. Kennedy’s funeral takes place at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. While it’s true that many prime voters today can assassination of John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy in another decade there will be many fewer of them. It’s bound to change how people perceive politics. I think it’s wonderful that they have been doing so much documentation of the neighborhoods that disappeared with construction of the Empire State Plaza as few will remember a time before the plaza in another decade.
