June 7, 2017 9 AM Update

On this Hump Day, it’s starting to clear up and the mercury is at 56 degrees on our way up to seventy two. Hello, Mr. Sunshine, you have been missed. Going to be pretty nice through the weekend. Getting hot next week. By Tuesday afternoon next week, I fully expect we will tie the 2014 record of four days above 90. That summer was exceptionally cold, we’ve had summers like in 1955 when we had 34 days above ninty. Usually it’s more like 14.
Nice enough weather that I feel like I should put out the flag. Maybe tomorrow. The windows are fully open to allow the breeze to come in. I’m glad that the nice sunny and warm weather of summer is returning, although I expect with the humidity and heat the beginning of next week it will feel quite oppressive. That said, I work late this time of year, so by the time I get home the heat will have declined and after having a few beers I’ll crawl into bed next to the fan.

The sun will set at 8:31 pm with dusk around 9:05 pm, which is 38 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for mostly clear conditions and 65 degrees. The dew point will be 51 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 15 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low of 49 degrees at 5am. Five degrees below normal. Calm wind. In 2016, it got down to 52 degrees with drizzle and mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1951.

On this day in 1965, the Supreme Court of the United States hands down its decision in Griswold v. Connecticut, effectively legalizing the use of contraception by married couples. Happy Griswold Day!

I am looking forward to the weekend. I got to put the kayak racks back on and secure the color changing LEDs but I’m sure it will be a nice weekend. Looking forward to getting back up north, hopefully after the worse of black fly season. Maybe do some fishing and kayaking. Plus long nights by the campfire.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Flag Day when the sun will be setting at 8:34 pm with dusk at 9:09 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 77 and 47 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 78 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1892.
