June 30, 2016 5 PM Update

Good afternoon! Mostly sunny and 83 degrees in Albany, NY. There is a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. The dew point is 50 degrees. Very comfortable and pleasant outside.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 61. One degree above normal. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1978.

Tonight the sun will set at 8:36 pm with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 8 seconds earlier than yesterday. Tonight we have a Waning Crescent Moon with 30% illuminated. The moon will rise around 2:21 am. July’s Buck Moon is on Tuesday, July 19th.

Friday will have a slight chance of showers before noon, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between noon and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Increasing clouds, with a high near 80. One degrees below normal. South wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. One degrees below normal. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The record high of 99 was set in 1913.

Independence Day Weekend will be delightful with low humidity but blustery. Saturday, sunny, with a high near 78. West wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 82. For Independence Day look for sunny conditions and 85 degrees. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees. Pretty nice weekend, you’ll have to agree.

In four weeks on July 28 the sun will be setting at 8:18 pm, which is 17 minutes earlier then today. The average high is 82 degrees, and the record for that date is 99 degrees was set back in 1929.

Tonight it’s packing for Moose River Plains. Among other things. I will do some shopping tonight. I got to check the oil, and I’m thinking about adding some additional lights in the truck cap. But other than that, I think I’ll get a modestly early start heading up north.
