June 25, 2017 3 PM Update
Talk about a nice afternoon. Mostly sunny and 75 degrees at the Mine Kill State Park Pool in North Blenheim. There is a west-southwest breeze at 11 mph with gusts up to 21 mph. The dew point is 50 degrees.
People ask why one would go all to Southern Schoharie County to go swimming, especially when I could walk to the town pool from my house. Well for one thing, it’s a lot more than just a swim. It’s fishing in the Schoharie Creek and Blenheim Reservoir. Delicious strawberries and fresh vegetables in season. Hiking Vromans Nose, Middleburgh Cliff or Huntersfield Mountain. Climbing the Utsayantha Fire tower. And so many other potential adventures. Clean, fresh mountains air. And now that Mine Kill Pool is free, I can run out to my car and get clothes or food whenever I want. Next time I will have to bring my kayak so I can fish out with it on the reservior. So it’s worth the 50 mile drive our here…
