June 23, 2021 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. πŸͺ Three weeks to National Nude Day πŸ‘±. Skinny dipping after dark on a hot day is fun. Sunny and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 Calm wind. Chilly start to the morning but pleasant. I bet is chilly up north in the Adirondacks this morning.

After a cool and gray Tuesday, πŸŒ₯ the sun is back out but another rather cool day. It looks like they are saving the heat for the weekend. They are cleaning up the tree that fell on Monday on the bike path. πŸš²πŸŽ„ That thunderstorm wasn’t bad but it knocked down that one tree. Odd.

I ran to Wally World for groceries πŸ›’ and should be good until some time next week when I’ll probably want additional supplies so I have things for lunch and my Independence Day Weekend trip. I forgot to get butter, I might get it when I run out for the therapist on Friday.

I noticed that the battery relay wasn’t connecting automatically when I was driving yesterday to the store πŸ”‹. I thought my patch to the exciter wire was bad but I forgot I had pulled off one of the terminals of a control switch to test things. I replugged in the connector, and things were perfect. I should be good if I head out of town next week for remote work then camping, wherever I decide to go. I was really annoyed when I had problems last weekend, because I thought I had fully mastered the technology and it worked flawless until it stopped working so well.

I was having a pretty good morning, ☺ until I read the news πŸ“° about the socialists taking Buffalo but hopefully it’s an oddity and the trend won’t continue. But I’m also ready for a change, even if it’s forced and not exactly how on paper I want it to go down. But I can’t control my day, I can control my attitude. 🀬

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 19th. Maximum dew point of 48 at 8am. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was humid. The high last year was 93 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1888.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:58 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.8° from the due south horizon (-0° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (304°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 9 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full 🌝 Moon in the southeast (138°) at an altitude of 10° from the horizon, 227,407 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 67 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 15 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 8 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 50 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 23rd. Calm wind. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 65 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1932. Nice sleeping weather.

The weekend looks to be hot and sticky. 😰 Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 85. Maximum dew point of 67 at 8pm. 🌞 Sunday, a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. β›ˆ Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 70 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

The plan remains the same. 🚢🏻 Walk out to Five Rivers early Saturday morning, take the bus to Thacher Park and then walk up to Thompson Lake for a swim 🏊🏻‍♂️ and then back to Thacher Park to read and enjoy the balance of day. Wear a lot of sunscreen and stay out of the high grass because the ticks are bad up at Thacher Park. A nice quiet, fossil free Saturday. ☺ Next independence weekend Spectulator to upper Piseco-Powley Road I’m thinking. Or Schoharie back country.

One of my long time colleagues was pointing out the benefits to getting a GIS certification. πŸ—Ί Maybe that’s something I should look at in the future. I mean I don’t know if I will be working for state forever, although one of my concerns is that technology seems to be changing so quickly as computer power grows. I’ve thought about that and also maybe getting a CDL, although I have to say map making probably pays a lot better, and there is so much information you can get from map data.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until National Nude Day πŸ‘± when the sun will be setting at 8:31 pm with dusk at 9:05 pm. On that day in 2020, we had mostly sunny, thunderstorm and temperatures between 84 and 67 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 99 back in 1995.
