June 19, 2015 evening

As we approach the midnight tonight, it is 58 degrees and clear. The crickets are singing all around. The stars aren’t bad for being on the outskirts of the city…. Close enough to the city for regular bus service but far enough away to smell cow shit in the spring.

Summer is rapidly taking over springtime. I saw the first black eye susans of the year, although daisies are still in flower. Wild strawberries are likely gone. Corn is rapidly popping up in the fields.

It’s been a heck of a long week. I’m starting to recover from it after taking an hour nap this afternoon. The bosses let us out of work early today. 4 PM is much earlier than 11 PM which was the norm for the week.

Read for about two hours at the Elm Avenue Park which was nice with the sun setting so late. Darkness is about 9 pm this time of year. Then came home and read for another two hours under a light hooked up to my pickup.

Tommorow I am going to stay in town but will go fishing at Henry Hudson Park in the evening. Going to be a nice day around 80 degrees and sunny. Also plan to sleep in late to catch up on sleep and spend some time cleaning my apartment, some reading and debugging of the blog code.

Maybe next weekend head up to Powley Place and certainly for Independence Day Weekend head up to Moose River Plains. If the weather cooperates, Independence Day Weekend will be fun. I will probably pick up some sparklers and other small fireworks that are now legal in NY.
