June 14, 2017 9 AM Update

Green grass ’round my window
Young leaves that the wind blows
Yes, it’s springtime, golden sunshine
While the bluebirds sing their magic song
We will love the summer long.

Sixty nineΒ degrees on our way up to eighty under brilliant blue, low humidity skies. Flag day this year is a particularly beautiful day. I hung out my flag a little after the eight o’clock hour this morning. It going to be a very excellent day with the low humidity only expected to drop further as the afternoon progresses.

The sun will set at 8:34 pm with dusk around 9:09 pm, which is 26 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for clear conditions and 72 degrees. The dew point will be 47 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 17 minutes of daytime, an increase of 25 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 51 degrees at 5am. Six degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 47 at 8pm. North wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2016, it got down to 51 degrees with partly cloudy skies. The record low of 42 occurred back in 1985.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Summer when the sun will be setting at 8:36 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. On that day in 2016, we had thunderstorm, rain, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 80 and 56 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 79 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1938. I can’t wait for summer, spending long days at the beach, fishing, relaxing and enjoying summer.

Although I’ve said this many times before, I wish all summer days could be this nice. It really is cruel and unusual punishment to be working on a day like this indoors. But I’ll try to walk outside as much as possible between buildings. Hopefully we will have some nice weekends after this weekend – my legs are still covered with red spots from the black flies last weekend.

Enjoy this beautiful flag day!Β
