On this day in 1977, the Great 1977 New York City Blackout begins, plunging New York into 24 hours of darkness, chaos, and crime. It really was a dark time in the bankrupt city. In contrast, 12 years earlier the Blackout of 1965 was a peaceful inconvenience for many.
There are 1 weeks until Ugly Truck Day when the sun will be setting at 8:26 pm with dusk at 8:59 pm. The average high temperature is 83 degrees, with a record high of 97 in 1991. Pretty much like today. You probably will want to recharge the air conditioning on your ugly truck before then, so you can be cruising in comfort, if not style.
Today I have my eye appointment for my eye check up. It will be nice to be able to see. Hopefully the eye doctor will be well air conditioned. I may get to leave work early but it’s possible that I will have to head back to work after my eye appointment.
Some minor traffic delays heading downtown. Both on the South Mall Arterial and Southern Boulevard. I don’t know the causes but so be it. It doesn’t seem that bad.
Still looking forward to the weekend but I don’t know if I will be stuck in town. But I’m still looking forward to the Mine Kill State Park and the always scenic drive out there. Hopefully if I do have to go to work, I’ll be able to get out early on Saturday.
Well, Moovit says I’m two stops away from work, so I better finish up my post. Enjoy this Hazy, Crazy Day of Summer. And stay cool.
