January 3, 2023 Morning
Good morning! Cloudy morning for the latest sunrise of standard time. π It really was pitch black out when I started my morning walk πΆ on this New Year of the work year. I know I’m like darn, I got to do it all over again. But alas I think I already got paid soon π will be deducted the money for retiring and investing. Limits are reset again.
Dark and cloudy at 35 degrees this morning for my walk on Bypass Extension. Maybe enough mist to be called fog π« but it’s mostly up in the ski. Calm wind.Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 2 am. βοΈ
I was hoping to catch the express downtown π but alas after trimming my hair, β and ironing my muzzles π· and packing lunch π₯ͺ and πΏ that was not to be. Going to rain β this afternoon so I’ll probably take the local home and tomorrow is a session day and I always use the local those days. Electric bus β‘ which is always fun. It always amazes me how warm the electric buses are. I thought they used diesel heaters in the winter but according to CDTA it’s just heat pumps and resistance heating. β¨ Not like my friend with the Chevy Volt who keeps it freezing in the winter to save on the battery life.
Today will have showers, mainly after 11am. π¦ High of 43 degrees at 3pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 12th. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 23 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 1913. 12.0 inches of snow fell back in 2003.β
I am kind of dissatisfied with my New Years Resolution of 2022, which was to stay the course π£οΈ but that proved impossible in a year with inflation, rising interest rates and my work schedule. Probably nights spent in the wilderness or networth in any particular year isn’t a good way to measure things. For this year I’m proposing Mission Fifty where I’m going to try to cement and start to implement goals over the next decade, namely before I turn fifty in January 2033. I’m currently still doing too many things like I was still 25 but I’m turning forty in less than four weeks.
Solar noon π is at 12:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 24.6Β° from the due south horizon (-46.3Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 13.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π starts at 3:49 pm with the sun in the southwest (231Β°). πΈ The sunset is in the west-southwest (239Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:35 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 23 seconds with dusk around 5:06 pm, which is 54 seconds later than yesterday. π At dusk you’ll see the Full π Moon in the east (86Β°) at an altitude of 32Β° from the horizon, 246,844 miles away. π The best time to look at the stars is after 5:42 pm. At sunset, look for rain π§ and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 56 seconds over today.
Not sure about my evening walk πΆ. I will walk around the museum and Concourse at lunch time to see if I can get as many steps in as possible but I’m likely going to need to do my evening walk π£ to get my full 10k in for the day.
Tonight will have showers, mainly before 1am. π§ Low of 42 degrees at 6pm. 22 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 22nd. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2022, we had light snow in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 10 degrees. The record low of -15 occurred back in 1904.
A picture perfect weekend on tap. π Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 41. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees.
Looking ahead, there are 6 weeks until Valentines Day β€οΈ when the sun will be setting at 5:27 pm with dusk at 5:54 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly cloudy skies, snow showers and temperatures between 28 and 15 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 36 degrees. We hit a record high of 63 back in 1946.
