I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the weekend π
I would love to go to the Adirondacks, but it’s such a long trip up there and I’m just worried I’ll have to work on Friday into Saturday, and that will put a dent into my trip. Going to be such a nice weekend.
Then I am just not really motivated to do a lot of packing tonight for a three day trip, go to the store get supplies, gas up my truck. Frankly, this week has just tired me out. With the longer nights in staying up later and later but with sun up early I’m going, often closer to 5 o’clock then I’d like to admit.
While I did it for years – leave work at five and drive two hours to the Adirondacks, then set up camp as darkness approaches, ever since the pandemic it’s not as much fun when I could get a jump start in the morning by working remotely. Last year, I often took off Friday and just drove up early, I might do again come the Juneteenth holiday.
The bugs will most certainly be bad for the weekend, as it’s the first real warm up the year since leaf out. The water temperatures really cold. Sunny and mild but I will be trapped under the screen tent, avoiding the black flies. And next weekend looks like rain. While probably searching for cell service or working on my laptop.
There is still a lot of summer remaining. Next weekend assuming it doesn’t rain, I’ll probably be less busy with work and it will be easier to get out of town. Tomorrow night I’ll do my evening walk early and around 8 pm go shopping. Thinking about hammock camping in the back country on Saturday and Sunday, real simple with a flashlight and candles. I’ll portion out my meals so I don’t have too much to carry on back thtere. Or maybe go kayaking on the Hudson River. And devote some time to trueing the wheel on my bicycle.
