It already feels like summer is ending 🌇

I think a lot of it is the mild conditions after a sultry summer week the came and went. Sun is setting earlier – 15 minutes earlier then late June at 8:22 pm. I checked, that’s equal to May 22nd, so I guess it’s not that big of a difference.

Maybe it’s the realization that my ever so ordinary summer vacation is in two nights. This year with gas prices it’s particularly ordinary although I always do find somewhere new to explore each year even if the Finger Lakes are still largely the place I know and go because it’s easy and non taxing to plan out.

I just know after I return from vacation the sun will be setting significantly earlier as we loose the most evening daylight it seems in August. Probably the heat will break by then and it will be more cool nights like tonight. And I can imagine only imagine how crazy work will be thereafter.

The truth is that I’m already thinking about my November trip when gas prices will likely be lower and work much quieter. I actually really like the long evenings and just how the woods looks after the leaves have dropped but the snow hasn’t fallen. It can be cold but the cold is invigorating. Plus at home, there is always the heated blanket and retiring to bed early.
