Happy Birthday America! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Said the sign at the local VFW Post.

While most certainly sincere, it seems tinged with a bit of irony, not unlike wishing an elderly person who is in their final days a Happy Birthday! This 249th birthday in many ways is not unlike America’s 199th celebrated after the fall of Sagion and with a president only there after resignation of the President and Vice President.

β€œSix months ago, this country was stone cold dead,” the President said. β€œWe had a dead country. We had a country that people didn’t think it was going to survive.”

America will survive in one form or another, it’s still a powerful idea with many thoughtful people coming from diverse backgrounds. It might be some hard times now but as the popular mid century Paul McCarthy album from the seventies was titled, All Things Must Past. Maybe it’s the closing of an era, the temporary pain of the twenties with the 2030s a decade to start anew with a younger generation with fresh new era.

Take care of yourself. If you can’t save your country, at least try to save your own life. You matter, your life is short and precious, the country will survive regardless. Things will get better, they always do, even if there are setbacks in the present. But without you saving your own life and making it better, how can we make it better in our country?

I’m leaving for the wilderness with no cellphone reception or radio. I will be unplugged though I brought plenty of books to read, music to listen to and things to think about both for today and into the future. Some time to float on old intertube, to dream from the hammock, to giggle as the waterfall bubbles down stream and watch the sparklers and spark fountains go off as I celebrate America. A time to rest, cool off and get away from it all.

β€œThank you for your attention to this matter!” the President said.

Happy Birthday America!
