Good Morning – September 7, 2021
Good morning! Happy Tuesday. β
Except for the muzzle, everything is pretty much back to normal for a September day after Labor Day, although I think tomorrow will be the day when the worse of the heavy traffic peaks with the kids back in school tomorrow. ππππππππππ
Mostly sunny β and 58 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 54 degrees.
It seems like everything is oddly normal for this September day, π except it’s not with the muzzles and still only a single bus om the half hour and no express buses downtown. π It’s a sunny, deep blue September day, much like September 11th two decades ago when I was a freshman in college π.
Twenty years is a nice round number βοΈ and this cool blue September brings me back to those days in college. There was such a world of possibilities ahead of me, it was a time of change. Maybe I should have explored more options, although I like my current job because I can take the bus to it and it pays well – even if we live in inflationary times and money goes quickly – and I got a nice view of the mountains. π»
Been doing a lot of reading π about the R language this weekend, the programming language of statistics analysis. I am not sure if R language is really that much better then Python data science packages but I think it’s good to know both and supposedly R makes better graphics. π Charts and graphics are so important in the era of social media. I installed R studio last night on my laptop π» even though I already had R language installed.
I keep seeing ads for data science classes π©βπ« trainings and certifications but my interest in data science primarily is as a hobbyist – to process data and make graphics for my blog and social media – and support my GIS and map making projects. πΊ That said, I can think of many uses of both R and Python data science for things at work nowadays and it’s a good skill to have – if I practice and use it daily I will get good at in a few years – and if I decide to get some kind of certification in the future – if you a master at it will be an easy thing to do. Plus I can imagine making good charts and manipulating data is a good skill to have, even in a non data science position.
I need to run to the library π tonight and return some books. I don’t think I’ll bring my laptop down there, it’s mostly going to be in and out. I don’t like working inside the library with the required muzzles these days. π· I also need to get to the store this week πand I should get my flu shot. π I don’t want to get the flu for sure.
