Good Morning – October 31, 2021

Good morning! Happy Halloween πŸŽƒ !

Rain and 51 degrees in Delmar, NY. β˜” Calm wind. The dew point is 51 degrees. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around 4 am. β˜ƒοΈ That’s big news for this year, as it’s been such a relatively warm October with no freezing temperatures in Albany. Even in the higher elevations, the frosts have been relatively minor, although the shorter days and cooler weather caused the leaves to drop. πŸ‚

The leaves are busy dropping today, πŸ‚ The rain and the breeze has done a number on the leaves, but that’s to be expected with November right around the corner. Summer couldn’t last forever, but hopefully it will be at least a few more weeks before everything is caked with salt and snow. ❄️ What can I say, winter is coming and isn’t much I can do about. πŸ• That said, I’m hoping for a nice trip next week, and then maybe another one around Thanksgiving to the Adirondacks, assuming their isn’t a ton of snow up north then.

Yesterday was a stay at home day. 🏘 I spent the day looking at some Census statistics and trying to fix some of the issues I was having parsing the American Community Survey summary file I had — apparently I wasn’t using the right index to load the code. Then I spent some time studying how to use the graphical modeler in QGIS, and later today I’ve been playing with map generation in R. I probably could have gone for my evening walk yesterday, 🌧 but it was kind of a cold and rainy evening.

I might go to the library this afternoon πŸ“š to return some books and get some more, I think my books are due back on Thursday but I really could use some new ones to read. I might go hiking before going out to my parents for Sunday dinner, but it all depends on how rainy and cold it is later — hardly a nice day. I didn’t make a mistake to stay home this weekend.
