Good Morning – November 17, 2021
Good morning! What day is it? GIS Day, of course. πΊ
Draw me a map as they say, preferably in the R programming language so it’s reproducible. I guess it’s kind of cold out this morning but should warm up as they progresses though cloudy later.
Partly sunny and 28 degrees in Delmar, NY. β Calm wind. Things will start to thaw out at around 8 am.π‘οΈ
Today is GIS day so I should probably come up with some pretty maps πΊ for the blog to post. There are so many things to explore with maps and remote sensing thanks to all the satellites and public data out there these days.
Yesterday I participated in an online conference about Census Data β π and GIS put on by the Monroe-Genesee County GIS group (nee… Rotchester) which was interesting but I didn’t learn all that much new. I don’t recommend using the Census Bureau website to get data when the Census API with R programming language or Python is so much easier and much powerful. GUI software is great except when you have to do something more than once.
I was so tired last night π΄ that I ended up heading home, laying back in bed, cooking up some pasta, watching a video about programming in COBOL, and then I fell asleep for the night.
I need to call today about getting my truck inspected π¨π§ after I get the new tires put on Saturday. I also should see about getting the shock bushing fixed, because that’s annoying on the rough roads, although I don’t expect there will be a lot of rough roads I’ll be exploring soon, it’s not likely to be a big expense.
