February 3, 2021 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. πŸͺ I’ve been watching more of the Homesteady channel videos featuring their dairy camel, although they got rid of one of their camels when they found their child wasn’t allergic to Jersey milk. Two weeks to 5:30 PM Sunset πŸŒ‡ . Overcast and 27 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a northwest breeze at 10 mph. πŸƒ. The current wind chill is 15. There are 8 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. 🌑️

I wasn’t sure what the sidewalks were going to be like yesterday, 🚢 but by evening walk I was able to go for my walk and it wasn’t too cold or snowy. A few places the sidewalk was obstructed from where snow was pushed up into the sidewalk, like a short distance by the high school but things were pretty clear, all things considered. Heading out shortly for today’s morning walk. Kind of dreary today, but it could be raining. Just wait for Friday.

Today will have a chance of snow showers, mainly before 9am. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 31 degrees at 1pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around January 30th. Northwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 57 was set in 2016. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 2004.❄

Probably keep digging out 🧹 Big Red today and get the tarp of him. I am thinking tomorrow I will run to the store, πŸ› and get groceries then go down to the library in the afternoon to work and download the files I need. Snow isn’t that bad, but I do want to get the tarp off the truck so the solar panel can top things off when sun comes out.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 31Β° from the due south horizon (-39.9Β° vs. 6/21). Definitely putting a lot more sun on in the evenings. A six foot person will cast a 10 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 4:31 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (241Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-southwest (248Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:12 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 8 seconds with dusk around 5:41 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:15 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ and temperatures around 29 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 5 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 26 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy πŸŒ₯, with a low of 21 degrees at 5am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 1st. Maximum wind chill around 13 at 5am; Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 27 degrees. The record low of -13 occurred back in 1978.

Yesterday was pretty quiet, 🀫 just kind of the normal at work. Watched session from my phone as I normally do as it doesn’t count against my hotspot limit (I know as soon as type that word, I’ll see a ton of cellphone advertising following me around on social media). Then in the evening, I ended up watching a bunch of videos on my phone while laying on bed. πŸ›Œ I actually ended up keeping my laptop bandwidth consumption down yesterday as Monday was a bit higher then I’d like, although I am careful that I’ll end up throwing away a bunch I paid for at the end of the month. πŸ“±

Need to watch Sunday for a possible snow storm late into Monday. 🌨 Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 30. 🌞 Sunday, a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees. At least note at this point the average high is above freezing.

🌹🌻🌼Only 45 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼 That’s only like a month and half away, or as the Ground Hawg suggested six weeks. Not that is ever that nice on first day of spring in the frigid manure-covered tundra of Upstate New York, well except for that time in 2012. But that was an exceptional year. I think the first day of the spring of 2016 was pretty mild. But neither the National Weather Services or the Hawg seems to think that’s likely.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Clean Your Computer Day 🧹 when the sun will be setting at 5:21 pm with dusk at 5:50 pm. On that day in 2020, we had snow showers, cloudy, mild and temperatures between 41 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 33 degrees. We hit a record high of 53 back in 1955.
