February 18, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy 6 PM Dusk πŸŒ† ! Two weeks to Average High is 40 β˜€οΈ . Snow and 21 degrees in Dormansville, NY. ❄ Calm wind. There are 9 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️More out here then in Delmar, but a reasonable amount. That warm weather combined with sunny days, has taken a bite out of snow. More ice on Tuesday then snow too. But more snow coming tonight into tomorrow. Things will start to thaw out at Tuesday around 11 am. 🌑️

I’ve been house sitting 🏠 at my parents house, while they travel up to Plattsburgh for their COVID shot and mini-vacation up in the Adirondacks. Just a one night thing, which is good because their dog has been totally crazy, and triggering my allergies something awful. 🐢 My eyes have been blood red, my nose itchy and a pretty good headache. I don’t know if it’s the different breed of dog, or it’s because the puppy has more energy and is all over you.

Today will have a chance of light snow before 11am, then snow likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy 🌨, with a high of 26 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees below normal. Light northeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. A year ago, we had snow in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1981. 6.3 inches of snow fell back in 2000.❄

So far it looks like the snow models are sliding downwards, 🌨 with most of the snow shown in the radar not hitting the ground right now. It could change again, but what once was looking like a major snow event tonight into more just snow flurries tomorrow. Hoping though to get shopping later πŸ› and to the library in the afternoon, so I don’t have to go out anywhere this weekend. πŸ“” I still have those books on reserve I need to pick up.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 36Β° from the due south horizon (-34.9Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 8.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 4:53 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (249Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-southwest (255Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:32 pm after setting for 3 minutes with dusk around 6:00 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter πŸŒ“ Moon in the south-southwest (201Β°) at an altitude of 62Β° from the horizon, 252,088 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:34 pm. At sunset, look for snow 🌨 and temperatures around 25 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 10 hours and 44 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over yesterday.

Being out at my parents house, 🚢 I missed both my morning and evening walks today and yesterday. Tonight should be nice for a walk, even if it’s a bit snowy. Not sure how much snow though, as the models keep trending downwards. I thought this could be a big snow event, but it doesn’t really look that way at this point.

Tonight will snow. 🌨 Low of 18 degrees at 5am. Typical for tonight. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. In 2020, we had light rain in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of -7 occurred back in 1878.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of snow showers, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 27. Northwest wind 7 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Thinking that would be a good day for a hike to Five Rivers. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 29. And maybe cross-country ski at Partridge Run. Typical average high for the weekend is 36 degrees.

🌹🌻🌼Only 30 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼 I am counting the down the days, if you haven’t noticed. Granted the first day of spring isn’t Memorial Day Weekend but at least we have a few days between the melting of the snow and the swarms of black flies. 🐜 Don’t worry, they are waiting.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 40 β˜€οΈ when the sun will be setting at 5:49 pm with dusk at 6:17 pm. On that day in 2020, we had partly cloudy, mild, rain showers and temperatures between 50 and 38 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 40 degrees. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1919.
