February 15, 2019 Morning
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday During this Time of National Emergency!ย ๐ฆTwo weeks to March ๐จ.ย Claudy, oh so, claudy and gray and 37 degrees in Delmar. โย There is a south-southeast breeze at 13 mph. ๐. There are 4 inches of snow on the ground. โย Maybe they’ll have the gates down at the bus turn-around in the plaza, but at least it will be nice. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 10 pm. โ๏ธ
So far myย life has been impacted by the national emergency in many ways.ย ๐For one, the gates were down at the Express Bus turn-around at the plaza, which meant we had to wait at both of the gates for 30 seconds or two.โ I am sure that some number fed into the computer relating to the national emergency, determined the terrorist risk higher, just because of the president’s declaration. But fortunately that had milk at Stewarts,ย ๐ฎย so my coffee was good this morning,ย โ as was the eggs I had.ย ๐ณย I also saw a Red Tailed Hawk in Delmarย ๐ฆ ย first time I’ve seen one out there in the suburbs. They are pretty frequent sights downtown, especially around the columns of the State Education Building where they nest.๐
Today will have showers likely, mainly after 3pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ฆ, with a high of 49 degrees at 12pm. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 26th. Basically spring like minus the sun and the green grass.๐พ South wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mist in the morning, which became partly cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 53 degrees. The record high of 55 was set in 2006. 9.0 inches of snow fell back in 1894.โ
The sun will set at 5:27 pm with dusk around 5:56 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ At sunset, look for rain ๐ง and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a south-southwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 36 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 41 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have a chance of rain and snow showers before 8pm, then scattered flurries between 8pm and 9pm. Partly cloudy ๐ง, with a low of 25 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around March 14th. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became mostly sunny by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1943.
Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐, with a high of 35 degrees at 3pm. Typical for Tomorrow. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had mist in the morning, which became partly cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 2006. 17.3 inches of snow fell back in 1958.โ
Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 31. ๐North wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees.
I am thinking about heading out of town this weekend,ย or maybe a night of camping on Saturday nightย ๐with the nice weather expected, but I will have to think about it a bit more. Going to be cold by Monday, so wherever I go, it probably would be just a single night. Probably not up to the Adirondacks, as they have a ton of snow up north there. I’ll have to think more about it tonight.
As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until March ๐จ when the sun will be setting at 5:45 pm with dusk at 6:13 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly cloudy skies with mild conditions and a few snow showers with temperatures between 50 and 35 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 39 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 2017. I’m old enough to remember those days, although I had less gray hair back then.
In four weeks on March 15 the sun will be setting at 7:02 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ which is one hour, 34 minutes and 24 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had partly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 39 and 30 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 44 and 25 degrees. The record high of 72 degrees was set back in 1989.
Looking ahead, March ๐จ is in 2 weeks, Ides of March โ is a month away, Tax Day ๐ฐ is in 2 months, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐๏ธ is in 14 weeks and Dog Days of Summer ๐ป is in 20 weeks.
