Talk about today turning into a rather dreary day

Talk about today turning into a rather dreary day. 🌧

Usually, Thursday is my day to go to store at lunchtime and then down to the library to work, but I don’t think that will be the plan for today — much too chilly and wet today. We need the rain, and it will help kill off more of the remaining snow, and get us out of rain/snow deficit we’ve had lately this winter, but it doesn’t make for nice looking out my window today at work. Kind of miss the basement office when things look like this. Been trying to get my CDTA navigator card updated — they’re having computer backend issues at CDTA but they say they are working on it.

You Can Often Tell When Rain is Coming

You can often tell when a rain storm is about to come in the woods by a gentle breeze that mostly touches the tops of the trees. Often there will be little breeze at the ground level but you can hear the trees blowing in the wind.

The sky gets darker, you might even feel a few big drops of water. In the summer, if it’s a thunderstorm you might hear a clap or two of thunder. Then sometimes it gently ramps up, but usually it comes down strong, quickly dropping quite a bit of water on your head. You seek shelter as soon you know you will get soaked.

Tomorrow is going to be really wet

Tomorrow is going to be really wet. Unfortunately I have a meeting I have to drive to tomorrow, but the windshield wipers work well on Big Red. We need the rain too — it’s been fairly dry lately and this will help us overcome the rain deficit.

Australia’s East Gets Drenched By Rain, And Flood Warnings Replace Fire Alerts : NPR

A month ago, Australians were praying for rain to put out horrific wildfires and save forests, animals and homes. A deluge is now falling on Australia's east coast — and while it's quashing stubborn fires, the water is also causing flash floods and other hazards.

The Bureau of Meteorology in New South Wales, the country's most populous state, warns of "very dangerous conditions" ranging from heavy rain to damaging winds.

For those who are fans of winter mud … 🌧

It looks like we might get 1 1/4 inches of rain on Saturday, followed by another 1/4 inch on Sunday. While 54 degrees on Saturday might not be the warmest January day ever, it’s going to turn everything into more slop, as it will destroy any frost that might be remaining in the ground. πŸ–
