Trump suggests ‘injection’ of disinfectant to beat coronavirus and ‘clean’ the lungs

President Donald Trump suggested the possibility of an “injection” of disinfectant into a person infected with coronavirus as a coronavirus deterrent at the White House daily briefing on Thursday.

Trump made the remark after Bill Bryan, a Department of Homeland Security official who leads the department's Science and Technology division gave a presentation on research his team has conducted that shows the virus does not live as long in warmer and more humid temperatures. Bryan said, “the virus dies quickest in sunlight," leaving Trump to wonder whether you could bring the light "inside the body."

The Intercept is reporting that the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, set up to help survivors of rape and sexual assault, refused to fund a #MeToo investigation into allegations against Joe Biden. The charges were brought by Tara Reade, who worked as a staff assistant for then-Senator Biden in 1993, when she was in her mid-twenties. Reade told journalist Katie Halper in an interview published Tuesday that Biden repeatedly touched her without her consent and sexually assaulted her. A warning to listeners and viewers: Her account is graphic.

Trump Commutes Blagojevich’s Sentence, Gives Clemency To 10 More

President Trump has commuted the sentence of the ex-governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, who has been imprisoned since being convicted on corruption charges over his attempt to sell the Senate seat vacated by then-President Barack Obama.

On Tuesday, the White House announced that Blagojevich is among 11 people who will be receiving clemency.

Those individuals include Edward DeBartolo Jr., former San Francisco 49ers owner convicted in a gambling fraud scandal; convicted Wall Street financier Michael Milken, who became known as the "junk bond king"; and Bernard Kerik, the former New York City police commissioner who pleaded guilty in 2009 to tax fraud and lying to federal officials.

1,100 Ex-Justice Officials Call On William Barr To Resign Amid Roger Stone Case : NPR

"Such behavior is a grave threat to the fair administration of justice," the former officials wrote. "In this nation, we are all equal before the law. A person should not be given special treatment in a criminal prosecution because they are a close political ally of the President. Governments that use the enormous power of law enforcement to punish their enemies and reward their allies are not constitutional republics; they are autocracies."

It’s a terrible idea to let President Trump go unpunished over the Ukraine ordeal

It’s a terrible idea to let President Trump go unpunished over the Ukraine ordeal …

While it’s true that being impeached is hardly without consequence — it’s a formal rebuke forever in the history books — he’s not going to be fined or forfeit his office for exploiting his office for political gain. If he is re-elected, it’s unlikely he will have learned from his mistake and do something just as stupid again.

Trump Broke The Law In Freezing Ukraine Funds, Watchdog Report Concludes : NPR

A federal watchdog concluded that President Trump broke the law when he froze assistance funds for Ukraine last year, according to a report unveiled on Thursday.

The White House has said that it believed Trump was acting within his legal authority.

Trump's decision to freeze military aid appropriated by Congress is at the heart of impeachment proceedings against the president that are shifting venues this week from the Democrat-controlled House to the majority-Republican Senate.
