Personal

Dark morning, warm day ahead ☀️

The weatherman is saying it might reach 80 degrees. Even nicer then yesterday, though today I am working in-person both downtown and in the office in Menands. Wearing shorts and t-shirt in today, and going to definitely be riding.

Maybe not quite as nice of a day as yesterday, 🌅 working the balance of the day at Glimmerglass State Park and then driving home on US 20, with the leaves such great color, with the windows down smelling that ever sweet smell of silage. 🌽 Yum! I didn’t stop for pumpkin 🎃 ice cream 🍦 though the dairy bar outside of Esperence had a big sign for it, and was open and looked pretty darn good.

Should be a nice day to ride into work. 🚴 Sure I wish I was still out in Madison County or down in West Virigina, but I have in-person meetings today, so I got to be in the office. So be it! 🐮 They pay me for work, and I can’t always be doing stuff remotely. 💻️ 80 degrees days in October is nice but it doesn’t really add much daylight to the day.

Tonight I get my COVID and flu booster. 💉 Getting vaxxed! I remember when this was a big thing, like super patriotic, how they checked off your card ✅ , and you were some kind of patriot. 🇺🇲 You know kind of like of buying an AR-15 but for liberals. But I really did not like that cold I got a few weeks back, 🤧 and I certainly don’t want the COVID or the flu, and the shots are relatively painless. My appointment is at 7 PM, 🌃 it will be dark out by then, but it’s going to be a nice night so I’ll either ride or walk down there. 🚶

It’s nice working here at Glimmerglass 🏞️

Lots of sunshine for solar, and I got out for a nice little paddle on Otsego Lake, though the water is choppy but the breeze is nice to be sitting at the park, banging away at work. The trees are colorful, the water is glistening, I am quite relaxed on this most beautiful of autumn days, around 70 degrees. Posting pictures shortly as time allows of my paddle down on the lake.

Two weeks out to Election Day 🗳️

Having some coffee, taking down camp, watching the sun rise over Lost Ponds. A very mild October morning for sure, going to be a nice day.

It’s a remote work 💻 day, and I plan to spend the balance of this beautiful day working down at the shore of Glimmerglass. Going to be in the seventies later on. My hope is to find some time for a quick paddle on Otsego Lake 🛶, head home and finalize any outstanding label 🔖 jobs down at the library tonight. Tomorrow it’s back at the office in Menands and downtown meetings.

It’s funny how fast a three night camping 🏕️ weekend goes but some of it has to do with the work never stops and the days are so dark and short this time of year. Really you don’t have much sun until almost eight o’clock and by the five o’clock hour it’s obvious that night is approaching. Still it was nice to get away when there is a bit of color left on the trees. 🍁

Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane 🐲

I used to be a big marijuana enthusiasts after I bought my first few pre-rolls. Smoking pot was a lot of fun. But as I’ve smoked more over time, and it’s become a more normal thing, it’s kind of lost it’s specialness and novelty to me. The colors aren’t so vibrant, the leaves not so fascinating to watch flutter or the ripples on the lakes and steams as interesting.

I’ve tried mixing cannabis with caffine to retard the sedative effects and enhance the europhia. Too often when I’m high it’s actually hard to be creative and think clearly. But that’s what I want – more insight into the world around me. And I’m not convinced the drug is doing that. I don’t smoke every day, it’s more something to enjoy up in the wilderness, by the fire and in the hammock, still I wish it could give me more clarity and discover who I am. Maybe my hope for the drug was mostly just a pipe dream.
