The Weekend

The best part of the week by far.

The Upcoming Weekend

Might be in the 50s next weekend. That is a little bit above average, although not super-above average. But at some point, we need warmer weather to pull up the average. Looks like Saturday may be rainy at least early, but Sunday should be sunny and warm.

weekendI will probably be on-call next weekend for work, probably so I will not head out camping or go too far from town, but would still like to spend a lot of time outdoors hiking or exploring. Might have enough snow left to do some snowshoeing or skiing — although hopefully this will be the last week where we have snow in the lower elevations.

Garnet Lake

Hopefully by the weekend, I will have my solar panel for camping and CB radio, so I can start working on building the storage/mounting box for the solar panel — and start running wires for the radio and solar controller in my truck. Some of the parts may be delayed, and I still have to purchase some small little things like fuses and crimp-on ends locally, but I should be able to get moving on things by the weekend.

Looks like we might finally get some great weather this weekend to enjoy some of the remaining snow in the mountains and be able to do stuff outdoors.

Went Out to Thacher Park and Schodack Island State Park

Left my camera home so no pictures of Thacher Park, but I did get some pictures of Schodack Island State Park, before I upset one my contacts and couldn’t see much of all, and had to limp back to my truck.

Alfred H Smith Bridge and Thruway Bridge

I am actually running low on contacts, and despite all my delays, I really need to schedule an appointment with some eye doctor – which because I always delay, I will probably end up seeing another guy in a cardboard box on the roadside to get my vision checked, and they will give me a prescription that I can’t really see out of the glasses. I really should plan things out a little better.

Sparkling Sun

Snowshoed at Schodack Island State Park, and for the first time in a long-time cross-country skied at Thacher Park. At Thacher Park, I went from Ryan Road up to the Nature Center via that trail that crosses private land on an easement. It was nice to do some sking, and it’s much faster and easier on the shins then snowshoes, especially with warm sticky snow.

The next time I go to Schodack Island State Park, I will use skis rather then snowshoes. With the sticky snow of Saturday, I kept hitting my shins with the front of the snowshoes, which started to hurt after a while.

A good weekend of snowshoeing and outdoor adventure, even if Sunday was a bit nippy and Saturday was somewhat cloudy.

Today is Friday

That is what the calender says. After an ungodly long week, Friday is here. I knew this morning was going to be cold, but I refused to wear a winter coat to work today, because it’s going to get up to 40 degrees today. And after the recent cold weather, that’s like a heat weather, even if that’s typical for March 7th. Certainly nothing like early March 2012, but so be it. Currently it is 18 degrees.

tgif-catThe weekend is pretty much not work. I am on call this weekend, but I don’t think much is going to happen this weekend. Saturday looks pretty nice, although probably my big thing of the day will be to get a haircut and drop my blazer off to the dry cleaner. Probably go out snowshoeing somewhere in the afternoon.

Snow Shoes

One more day closer until Spring. I know I repeat this a lot more this time of the year, but I look forward to meaningful weekends in the Adirondacks and wherever else I decide travel to. It’s mostly a matter of the snow disappearing now.

Another quiet and kind of boring weekend on tap, but at least tomorrow it will be 38 degrees, which is much warmer then the below normal weather of recent.

Cool Cloudy Weekend On Tap

weekend

The recent cold snap will moderate but temperatures will remain slightly below normal for the first week of March. Normals are 39 for March 7-8, while March 9's normal temperature is 42 degrees.

Good Morning! Happy Monday.

The week has come back around again. But look at it this way. We are one week closer to spring. The weather is only going to start getting nicer over time, as winter starts to fade away. This next week is going to be cold for late February, but even the coldest days this time of year, really don’t have the fury or long lasting nature of those cold days of early January. The day’s sun is getting stronger, and even the most frigid weather of the nights is quickly faded away as sun comes back up.

Across Blueberry Hill

This weekend was quite wonderful. Great weather all day on Saturday, although a big soggy on the Save the Pine Bush Hike without snowshoes. I had them, but I didn’t strap them on, because other people there didn’t have them. I probably should have worn them. Then I went down to the library for a bit, which turned into a session trying to debug some code relating to geocoding and photos, which turned into much more of the process and pain then I had initially expected.

Sunday morning I went grocery shopping, then baked some cupcakes for dad’s birthday. Then I went out for a nice evening hike up Bennett Hill, then out to Mom and Dad’s for dinner. It was a nice weekend.

It was a nice weekend, although much to short. It's good that we are finally starting to get some better weather and things aren't as cold, even if winter continue to drag on.
