John Boyd Thacher State Park

John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

Daily Update – August 27, 2022

Good morning! Happy Saturday.

Made it to the last weekend of summer. How fast the date come and go.

Mostly cloudy and 66 degrees at the John Boyd Thacher State Park. ☁ There is a north breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 62 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 am.

I woke up last night feeling kind of sick 🤮. I think it might have been the tuna fish salad I made up with some kind of stale sweet corn 🌽 that I used in the mix. But I made the toilet 🚽 my friend and didn’t get back to sleep 😴 until much later.

I thought about going out to Schoharie but ultimately decided Thacher Park 🏞 was just an easier option. I got my lunch at work yesterday so I saved my packed lunch from yesterday and brought that today. I thought about doing North Bearpen and Roundtop but I figured that I wasn’t feeling great this morning so best to wait until the autumn colors are better. 🍁

Next weekend at any rate I’m heading up to Spectulator ⛺ to camp up there for the long weekend. I’m pretty certain that’s going to happen based on the weather. I will probably try to get set up early Friday morning where I have cell reception for work and then do some hiking in the West Canada Lake Wilderness on Saturday or Sunday of next week.

It’s the gas prices stupid ⛽

It’s the gas prices stupid ⛽

It seems like lately Democrats want to talk about anything besides gas prices and inflation. As the party in power, the buck falls on them but they know there is little they can do about the high price of gas in the short term.

But I don’t think there is no shying away from the problem as high gas prices are super obvious any time you go past a gas station. Maybe Democrats would be better off if they faced the problem directly – made an honest plea for people to conserve fuel by avoiding driving and consider buying an electric or hybrid automobile when that time comes.
