Late Afternoon
Daily Update – July 3, 2022
Good afternoon! Nice day for a hike.
Sunny and 75 degrees at the Pittstown State Forest. π There is a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. π. The dew point is 48 degrees.
A pretty nice day for a hike in the woods. πΆ Decided to check out the scenery up at Pittstown State Forest this afternoon, especially the newer Grumhan Parcel with the great views of the valley below. Very clear day, with low humidity, though a lot of haze in the distance. And kind of buggy.
I thought about hammock camping π tonight but I’ll probably just head home. I sleep π΄ better in my own bed. The thing is I left my hammock in the truck and I parked a ways from the forest as I wasn’t sure how rough the access road would be or if there would be trees π²down on the road. But quite clear and nice. I also don’t really have anything with me for breakfast or dinner. Very dry and windy so I wouldn’t want to risk a fire π₯. Maybe later in the summer.
I noticed a bit of a squeak in one of my wheels on the truck β so I’ll have to decide if I need to get it into the shop this week. I decided not to drive up all the way to the trail head, in part because I didn’t want to beat a wheel bearing too hard. Which is too bad, as I was hoping I could keep my truck away from the shop. Or maybe it’s nothing new, I just had the windows down. But still it is concerning. Not sure with the 4-day weekend if I can get my truck into the shop.
