Onondaga County (/ΛˆΙ’nΙ™nˈdɑːɑə/ on-Ι™n-dah-gΙ™) is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 467,026.[1] The county seat is Syracuse.

Onondaga County is part of the Syracuse, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Anti Virus Rant

I don’t understand what the purpose of anti-virus software is or why you should have to buy it. Shouldn’t an operating system be secure and provide automatic upgrades, so you don’t need external software just to ensure your computer is secure ?

Then again in 2016, I don’t know why anybody would use anything but Ubuntu Linux on their computer. It takes care of the all upgrades itself and you never have to pay for add ons. The software is quite well developed at this point and unless you have special technical needs, there isn’t much of anything that can’t be done using.

But McMullen’s second mystery remained: How did odorata get here? The seeds are microscopic and generally spread on the wind, but a breeze wouldn’t convey seeds 350 miles, especially against prevailing winds. The seeds must have hitched a ride. On whom or what?

“Our hypothesis is that Onondaga Lake used to be a major stop for migrating birds, and probably still is,” Hough said. “We think that probably they’re the ones that brought it up there. In water, seeds would stick to the feet of waterfowl.”

A bird’s journey from Delaware to Syracuse would take just a few days, Hough said.

While the plant’s seeds are tiny, the stalks can rise to nearly 3 feet, a giant among the Spiranthes genus. One plant near Onondaga Lake was nearly 31 inches high.
