John Boyd Thacher State Park

John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

Weather Update – July 4, 2022

Should be about perfect for Independence Day Holiday πŸŽ†

Heading out to the parents house mid-afternoon then I might hike Bennett Hill or maybe an undisclosed location in the evening for a nice hike and then to watch the evening’s fireworks. I probably could do a hike somewhere else or some fishing, but I’m kind of moving slow today. I bought some sparklers and fountains yesterday, but I won’t be shooting them off until a future weekend when I’m up in the wilderness and nobody cares.

Daily Update – July 4, 2022

Good morning! Happy Independence Day. πŸŽ‡ πŸŽ† πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Looks like a really nice day ahead for the Independence Day Holiday. A nice day, unless of course you hate America and want it to rain and be cold. But for the rest us, should be a great day.

Sunny and 63 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 Calm wind. The dew point is 52 degrees.

Earlier tonight I was looking at an advertisement for trash bags made out of “ocean bound plastic”

Earlier tonight I was looking at an advertisement for trash bags made out of “ocean bound plastic”. The whole concept seems patently absurd — in much of world there isn’t much strategic dumping of waste plastic into the ocean. Recovery from plastics, from the ocean, seems kind of a joke too, as any resin is likely highly contaminated with dirt and debris, to say nothing of the damage to the material from salt and sunlight. All things that video I posted earlier confirms. Like so many green-marketing products these days, it’s pretty much a scam.

It’s the gas prices stupid β›½

It’s the gas prices stupid β›½

It seems like lately Democrats want to talk about anything besides gas prices and inflation. As the party in power, the buck falls on them but they know there is little they can do about the high price of gas in the short term.

But I don’t think there is no shying away from the problem as high gas prices are super obvious any time you go past a gas station. Maybe Democrats would be better off if they faced the problem directly – made an honest plea for people to conserve fuel by avoiding driving and consider buying an electric or hybrid automobile when that time comes.
